The Best Thing To Happen To Me Today...

Watching the deer come in to eat corn.
Chase each other around so they could get some corn.
First to arrive was a small buck with short antlers.
Later a larger buck came in.

I think there 10 or 12 , chasing each other around.
is this the time of the rut?

@OregonGuy Yes the male deer are in Rut.
That starts after the first 'hard' frost, in Pa.

Archery season starts in Oct. in Pa , deer should be in rut by then.
With climate changes it was late.

The buck that was in had 4 on the left & right side looked like the points on that got broke off.

I got some photos of him.

The buck walked through our yard, looking across the road.
Turned around to go back to feed ,, thought he was going walk up & look at me watching him .

Have to reprogram my photo site.

Finally killed this darn fly!
It has been buzzing around here since the warm days..three days ago.

Always feel bad when I do kill anything. I try to imagine the germs on the fly's feet is what am killing, not the fly.
Sadly, a shoot the vector, not the disease....scenario.

I unraveled another mystery re my great and grand parents +as to why they kept moving the sheep into Canada in 1923...
I took a small-bus ride about a year ago... woman driver, spoke excellent English with an accent. Turned out she is Swiss, and her mother tongue was Swiss-German. At one stop, I told her my maternal grandmother was from a sheep-herding region in Ticino, Switzerland. As the seasons changed, the driver told me, the Italians herded their sheep northward into the region where her family had their farm.
