The Queen - why is she not retiring?

Even as a child, I have had a deep respect for the United Kingdom. This was influenced by my early understanding of how they stood ALONE, against the Nazi attempt to take over the world. We finally came in after Pearl Harbor was bombed. Together with other allies we defeated the Axis powers, but if England had not 'Stood Strong' things may not of went down as they did. For sure many more lives would have been lost.

In her lifetime Queen Elizabeth ll showed much of the strength and character that was demonstrated during the war. My wife and I have followed her over the years and at this point in our lives, we have an extreme amount of respect and reverence for who she is and what she has accomplished in her lifetime. God Save the Queen!
They did not stand alone, Canada, and other Commonwealth members joined the fray. Canada was there from the beginning. As for bravery, the Brits are a very stalwart people.

Yes, I corrected that on my post number 44. 'Forgive me, I wrote the 'United Kingdom' I should have referred to the British Commonwealth."

She is not going to Church tomorrow???? That speaks volumes. Tired, ill and does not want to put up the pretense any longer. I feel sorry for her.

People will read into this as they will. I think she has done her time and her time is up to move on and pass the crown.
Her mobility problems are causing more problems than the press are reporting. I don't believe it is pretense for the Queen, she has picked up since involving herself in more 'duties', that speaks volumes.

Lee... this was the Queen today after the procession and on the Balcony... looked like she was having a fab time

I'm always fascinated by Her Majesty's choice of brooches.

"For Trooping the Colour, a ceremony steeping in tradition, Queen Elizabeth led the way by wearing her Brigade of Guards brooch. Worn for every Trooping since 1987, except three, this could be the Queen’s way of telling everyone she is pleased to see the pomp and circumstance return for this annual event and that the world is on the path to a return to normalcy.

The Brigade of Guards diamond brooch encompasses the badges of the five regiments of the British and Commonwealth armies: Grenadier, Coldstream, Scots, Irish and Welsh Guards. Each regiment rotates yearly trooping their color. The Latin phrase, “Quinque Juncta In Uno” (“five joined as one”) is in the oval surrounding the badges. A crown is placed atop the oval.

There are two possibilities as to the origin of this brooch. Queen Mary, the Queen’s grandmother, had a similar brooch and it is possible Queen Elizabeth inherited it from her. The other origin story could stem back to the 19th century. In 1863, the officers of the Brigade of Guards gave Queen Alexandra a diamond badge at a ball they were hosting. Queen Alexandra is Queen Elizabeth’s great-grandmother. It is plausible that this brooch was passed down through the generations and The Queen wears this family heirloom in her role as Head of the Armed Forces." - Cara Artman

I recorded just over an hour of the parade etc., via our CBC channel and after watching I just have to say that the Queen looked absolutely marvellous. Yes, tired when she turned to go back inside but who wouldn't be at that age.
She was interested in everything that she could see from the balcony and that wonderful smile flashed often.

This is no tired out worn old lady.....cheers majesty🍷

That is great information Aunt Bea, thank you for passing it on.

The brooch that the Queen normally wears and has been seen
with it on at most "Queen's Christmas Message", is the one that
was given to her by Prince Philip, in 1966, he also designed I believe.

Well I've seen it all now, and they do say there's a first time for everything, but look here at the video of the Golden coach today...with a Queen Hologram instead of the real person...

Ultimately she must be in a lot of pain if she can't even sit in the carriage for a once around the local roads and a wave to the crowd. I do believe she said years ago that the Golden coach is extremely uncomfortable

Covid plus her age really weakened the Queen.

Is the golden carriage normally available for viewing?

A point..........The Irish and Welsh Guards were not established until the First World war was going on, so the brooch is newer than the 1914 to 1918 time period. That means that the brooch is not from the 19th Century. JimB.

God Bless her! I hope she is enjoying being the queen. It certainly fills her days and now that she is a widow perhaps that is just what she needs.
Wishing her good health 🙏 🌹
