two things:The ozone layer has been healing because of laws enacted to outlaw the chemicals causing the problem. This is a success story!
Global warming is an average measurement but it’s rise causes variation in normal weather patterns. It also impacts ocean currents and temperatures. Granted that over the eons the planet has gone through many cycles of warming and cooling but the current issue is that the disturbing patterns are man made and will effect us dramatically. However, it’s a symptom caused by the rising Co2 levels. That’s the real problem and its directly related to our burning of fossil fuels, or for that matter burning anything with carbon.
The rise in Co2 levels has been quite dramatic since the early 1900’s – Global Co2 Levels. This rise will severely impact the planet if it continues on at this rate. Besides the erratic weather and ocean conditions the rise in Co2 levels are lowering PH levels in the oceans wiping out many species, especially the coral. This is happening right now.
Unfortunately, most of society cannot comprehend the act of doing something now to have a favorable outcome down the road. How many people actually have a savings account for a rainy day. Most live from paycheck to paycheck.
So there are lots scientist that know what is going on. It’s just the politicians are in between them and the public causing this mess because no one what to upset the status quo. If we keep ignoring the data one day it will hit us in the face. As the Co2 increase the everything gets worse and eventually mammals (us) will start having a difficult time to breath. The plants will be happy. There is a tipping point like going over the edge of a waterfall. Once we go over that point we may not know it until we hit bottom and that’s what the scientist are trying to avoid.
People can spin it any they want but the data don’t lie. Since this type of problem is difficult to model scientist cannot say for certain when this or that will happen. This really reminds of the recent movie “Don’t Look Up”.
This is something that will effect your children and grand children.
Anyway, I just hope I’m not reincarnated and have to deal with this mess in the future.
You support my post where I said the debate is over the imminence of the threat. At least that's a logical debate. One that makes the most sense to contest.
I'm old enough for none of this to matter. Unless I'm concerned about the ocean creeping up close enough to my gravesite to cause problems there. I never was a swimmer.
