Agreed, kudos to Seabreeze and Matrix! I liked this forum the minute I stumbled in. Was great to find members close to my age and talk to them as adults. And I like that the forum is divided into sections and I can entirely avoid subjects that I am not interested in. Great job, great members, great posts!
 

just joined today -like some 'been on a few - one i have been for over 5yrs -but choice of moderator is essential ' and not always chosen wisely ..
but hope to make friends and join in the fun forum ...:D

Welcome toffee. I can assure you that the moderation here is truly great.
If there were such a thing as a site perfectly moderated, if there’s such a thing, then this site would be it.
I’m sure you will make friends and enjoy your stay. :wave:

yes most of us here have been on forums before, some still are ..I have been a member of one forum for well over 7 years...this one for racing towards 5 years ( many of us came here after we found it after a very long standing one closed down)... and many more for several years... There's only 3 that I post on regularly.. a few occasionally.. and some not at all now due as you say to ''poor moderation, and also bullying cliques.

Out of curiosity whereabouts in the Uk are you...? you don't have to say exactly... :D

Of course as you already know Marie, I'm british, but I do understand how it's more comfortable to convey meanings in your own ''language'' so to speak.

Although I have been a member of USA based Forums for many years, I still have to think sometimes about comments I'm making that I know would be met with laughter or would be non offensive on a brit forum, but misunderstood by Non- Brits, so for that reason Emoticons are very useful in conveying a non confrontational post!!

I've got very used to American ways in the many years I've been using forums ( over 20 years now) and have American friends both on and off the forums..and I thoroughly enjoy your openness and friendship...
 
Of course this site is the best. And it doesn't mean that everyone is always agreeable with each other--that would be boring. We are all individuals with different life experiences and viewpoints, which is what makes it interesting. And good, light-handed but strict moderating helps to keep it the best. Kudos!

The site has a nice variety of members whom I’ve grown fond of. Many are high spirited, fun loving folks and most members are thoughtful & understanding.


The site’s moderation is the very best.
It’s surprising that the place is only run by two extremely modest and fair members.
I appreciate how discrete and low key they are in keeping things running smooth and fair all while interacting with others.


The site owners aren’t on a power trip of any kind and do their best to try and make members feel welcome and wanted.


My photos always show up beautifully at this site but since I’m not a techie , have no idea why.


I especially appreciate the balance there is between fun and serious stuff.
Membership is very diverse to keep the board interesting.

I still think this site is the best for all the above same reasons. I think I may have been taking the great moderation for granted but it only takes visiting other sites temporarily to bring it all back. I’m truly grateful for this site and how well it’s run.

Thanks for keeping this place running like you do Matrix & Seabeesze and thanks to all the interesting, unique members who contribute and make it worthwhile.
Yes it’s a ‘suck up’ 😘but you guys are the BEST! 🥰

And what about those that might see things just a-tad differently? Should they just shut up ? Should their view be blocked ? A true discussion on any topic cannot be complete until both sides of it are indeed discussed. Until then it is just a speech really.
 
Before I joined this forum I was on one that closed down and then I went on another. I made a lot of friends until I went into a thread about politics. One person attacked me and every opinion I had. He said many insulting things about me from my spelling and lack of intelligence. I stop in there occasionally just to get him riled up,and to see some of the other people that were nice. Now this is my home away from home. It is a wonderful forum !
