Total bad falls in your lifetime?

I spent a lot of years re-schooling horses other people ruined, so I’ve had more falls than I can count, including a couple where the horse decided to go down with me.

Then there was a couple of doozies off the snowmobile.

Three concussions — two of them a miracle I can still think🤓🤓

As a single digit kid living in the Sacramento urban hills, oak trees were everywhere. At least before all the vast housing projects bulldozed it all. We kids climbed oak trees everywhere that was a huge sport. And that includes to heights any fall could be lethal. As an adult, I've extensively backpacked in the Sierra Nevada, especially away from trails where there are frequently places like with large boulder talus where even a single fall could be lethal. And ski Tahoe recreational moguls every winter, where I do occasionally fall. The last fall a few years ago didn't seem that bad initially but required over 5 months before I could lift my right arm above my head. The above noted, have never broken any bones.

My three most painful falls were:

Tripping on the curb causing me to fall-face first and land on the pavement with bridge of my nose and breaking it.

Slipping on some sidewalk ice and slamming my right hip joint into the pavement..

Slipping with my left foot and submerging my right foot into extremely hot bathtub water and being unable to remove it for about twenty agonizing seconds because of lack of traction.

I’ve always managed to get up and get on with it so I suppose that the official answer is none.
😉🤭😂

It seems like I fall at least once or twice each winter. Last winter I took a particularly bad fall that sounded to me like a watermelon or pumpkin hitting the pavement with a sickening squish/thud.

I managed to get up and get moving again but it made me realize that I need to become much more careful in picking my battles.

I still go out for a walk most days but now I do sometimes skip a day or two when the weather is bad.

This winter I’m going to try a pair of these spiked creepers to see if they help.

The good news is that I don’t seem to have any problems in my little apartment.
When I was working, I had to walk up and down several slopes - not quite hills - and I bought similar to those (from Amazon) after seeing people slipping over when it snowed.

They were good in the icy weather but, I used to take them off before I went inside. Our work reception had polished wooden floors and I thought the chains might scratch the floors. Good for outside though.

Two. Apparently, I fell out of a moving car when I was about four. And a few months ago, (I'm 60 now), I passed out while stepping over the doggie gate. The jagged wooden spike that resulted nearly impaled me. But I woke after a minute or so and life went on. :)

Edited for grammar. Of freaking course.

Medusa, you just reminded me of a fall out of a truck when
I was may 6 or 7, riding with my dad , turned a left corner
onto hiway and out I went....course I hadn't latched the door
properly....had some skinned places but that was all...went
on to dad's work with him, slaughter business...

We certainly were more durable when very young. ;) 🤗

I’m wracking my brain, but I don’t think I’ve had any! I’ve certainly never had any broken bones.

The most recent thing I can think of was tripping over my dog’s leash when I was out walking them, put my hand out when I went down, and skinned the heel of my hand. It wasn't dramatic or anything, I stood back up, brushed myself off and continued with my walk.
