Total bad falls in your lifetime?

I spent a lot of years re-schooling horses other people ruined, so I’ve had more falls than I can count, including a couple where the horse decided to go down with me.

Then there was a couple of doozies off the snowmobile.

Three concussions — two of them a miracle I can still think🤓🤓

As a single digit kid living in the Sacramento urban hills, oak trees were everywhere. At least before all the vast housing projects bulldozed it all. We kids climbed oak trees everywhere that was a huge sport. And that includes to heights any fall could be lethal. As an adult, I've extensively backpacked in the Sierra Nevada, especially away from trails where there are frequently places like with large boulder talus where even a single fall could be lethal. And ski Tahoe recreational moguls every winter, where I do occasionally fall. The last fall a few years ago didn't seem that bad initially but required over 5 months before I could lift my right arm above my head. The above noted, have never broken any bones.

My three most painful falls were:

Tripping on the curb causing me to fall-face first and land on the pavement with bridge of my nose and breaking it.

Slipping on some sidewalk ice and slamming my right hip joint into the pavement..

Slipping with my left foot and submerging my right foot into extremely hot bathtub water and being unable to remove it for about twenty agonizing seconds because of lack of traction.

I’ve always managed to get up and get on with it so I suppose that the official answer is none.
😉🤭😂

It seems like I fall at least once or twice each winter. Last winter I took a particularly bad fall that sounded to me like a watermelon or pumpkin hitting the pavement with a sickening squish/thud.

I managed to get up and get moving again but it made me realize that I need to become much more careful in picking my battles.

I still go out for a walk most days but now I do sometimes skip a day or two when the weather is bad.

This winter I’m going to try a pair of these spiked creepers to see if they help.

The good news is that I don’t seem to have any problems in my little apartment.
When I was working, I had to walk up and down several slopes - not quite hills - and I bought similar to those (from Amazon) after seeing people slipping over when it snowed.

They were good in the icy weather but, I used to take them off before I went inside. Our work reception had polished wooden floors and I thought the chains might scratch the floors. Good for outside though.

Medusa, you just reminded me of a fall out of a truck when
I was may 6 or 7, riding with my dad , turned a left corner
onto hiway and out I went....course I hadn't latched the door
properly....had some skinned places but that was all...went
on to dad's work with him, slaughter business...

I’m wracking my brain, but I don’t think I’ve had any! I’ve certainly never had any broken bones.

The most recent thing I can think of was tripping over my dog’s leash when I was out walking them, put my hand out when I went down, and skinned the heel of my hand. It wasn't dramatic or anything, I stood back up, brushed myself off and continued with my walk.

This isn't what I would call a bad fall. I was waiting on the Keurig to get done with my coffee. Just standing at the counter. Everything went black and I fell backward. I "woke up" a minute or so later, staring up at the Presa Canarios, who had no clue what to do. They looked so stressed. What to do? What to do? There's only us, you, and 3 useless cats here! I reassured them that I was fine, which was true (never lie to a dog who is bigger than you).

So no biggie, until I recalled two things. (1) I had a boss who passed out like that a couple of times. His carotid arteries were blocked, and he had to have them fixed. (2) My cardiologist told me get an ultrasound of my carotid arteries 6 months ago.

I look up carotid arteries, and they are pretty important aside from being an avenue to homicide in a murder mystery. So I went to see the doc yesterday instead of cancelling the scheduled appointment, and today I'll make the appointment for the ultrasound.

I liked this cardiologist (who presents as kind grumpy) so much that upon meeting him I said I would tell him all my diseases and I wouldn't lie to him directly or by omission. He was so surprised. Do you ordinarily lie to your doctors? Oh yes, I said breezily, whenever I feel like it. It is fun to tease the kind of grumpy guys, although I do lie to doctors whenever I feel like it. It's an art form. But since I promised him I wouldn't lie to him, I don't.

I haven't got the foggiest idea, I've had countless falls from motorcycles plus a few more.
One fall in particular resulted in the impression of limestone blocks appearing on my butt a week later. I've had a few of those deep bruises which take a week to reach the surface.

Two. Apparently, I fell out of a moving car when I was about four. And a few months ago, (I'm 60 now), I passed out while stepping over the doggie gate. The jagged wooden spike that resulted nearly impaled me. But I woke after a minute or so and life went on. :)

Edited for grammar. Of freaking course.
 -- for the grammar remark.

My worst falls have been falling out of trees. I fell while using the tree as my fortress during a acorn fight. Knocked me out. I was 9 and in a well chair on summer vacation! Yuk!
I fell out of a tree while cutting a limb for a friend. It basically accompanied me down the tree.

I have fallen in my older age. I had a couple falls while I was on my walk. I hurt both my hands.:(
