United States and Israel attack Iran Early Saturday Morning

Members of the Iranian women's football team have been led through Kuala Lumpur airport by 'handlers' on their way home, following their participation in the Asia Cup in Australia where they refused to sing the national anthem.

One conservative commentator in Iran labelled the group 'wartime traitors' and called for harsh punishment, fuelling fears the women would be persecuted if they returned home.

Regime officials issued the stark warning days after US President Donald Trump exhorted Iranian citizens to rise up and overthrow their government.

Speaking on state television, Iran's police chief Ahmadreza Radan said that 'anyone taking into streets at the enemy's request will be confronted as an enemy not protestor.'

'All our security forces have their fingers on the trigger,' he added.

The Islamic republic has also arrested dozens of people, including a foreign national, accused of spying for the country's 'enemies,' the Intelligence Ministry said on Tuesday.

The new threats have sparked worry surrounding the fate of the Iranian women, who boarded their flight from Sydney late Tuesday evening.

I simply don't understand why anyone would believe they'll be safe. It's Iran! They've killed tens of thousands for simple protesting... why on earth would they offer safety to these girls they see as traitors to the country? That first picture is terrifying... I hope I'm wrong about what they're "marching to." 😩

..exsctly...and why do they need ''handlers'' to escort them through the airport. I fear we wil never see these girls again...

In fact. The women in the 2nd picture who have been granted asylum are looking much happier.

Some of those women had children and so of course they wanted to return for them. They were also worried about what would happen to their families if they did not return so what an awful situation.
Even if they return to Iran it's likely that they and their families will be punished. Thus it makes absolutely no sense that they sacrifice themselves.

In order to make this statement, I would venture a guess that you do not have children. There is nothing I would not do for my children, and I would certainly not do anything that might put them in harms way. I value their lives over mine.

You are right, I don't have children. But I would exactly do the same if I had.
If you had children, you would not do the same. Those of us with children value their lives over our own. We protect them always if possible. It’s very very hard to explain to somebody that hasn’t had any children, the overwhelming love that you feel for them and how it’s so different from any other type of love .

The way I explain it to people is that I love both my parents very much and we were very close. You can multiply that love by 1 million when it comes to my kids.

I'm guessing (personal feeling only) that these women will be executed. It's Iran. So yeah, I *am* a mom, and my thinking would be that if I go back, I'm dead. If I don't go back, *maybe* my child would be safe. Pretty sure bet I'd be killed... but there's a chance they wouldn't go after my child. THAT is motherly love.

If Iran were to manage to control the Strait it would certainly give them an advantage . . . but if they get a nuclear weapon, then heaven help us all.
Thanks, I appreciate your input. I don't disagree with your post, but "IF" is the key word. You were replying to my post which was intended to address a completely separate issue, i.e. - control or acquisition of the Strait of Hormuz.

"Iran's nuclear program has generated widespread concern that Tehran is pursuing nuclear weapons. According to U.S. intelligence assessments, Tehran has the capacity to produce nuclear weapons at some point, but has halted its nuclear weapons program and has not mastered all of the necessary technologies for building such weapons." [From a Congress.Gov report, 06/24/25.]

Yet we would be led to believe that everything changed in less than 9 months to necessitate immediate action.

BTW, There are more recent findings than June, 2025, which confirm the statements from Congress.Gov, but I do not include links that contain political commentary. Anyone who may wish to do their own research on this matter can search sites (such as) -> ArmsConrol. [Or, they can enter this phrase into the Google search bar: "did iran have nuclear weapons? arms control association" - Then click on the link from Arms Control Association from the choices offered.]

[The Arms Control Association (ACA) is a Washington, D.C.-based, nonpartisan, non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 1971 to promote public understanding and support for effective arms control, nonproliferation, and disarmament policies. Independent media analysis rates the Arms Control Association as high for factual reporting with no failed fact-checks in the past five years.]

I’m actually shocked and speechless after reading this so I don’t have anything else to say.

It's doubtful this will be a long war, if only because of the extremely short attention spans of some of the leaders involved.
Here's a quote from a Substack subscription I receive, written by an ex-SAS trooper who was part of Operation Nimrod at the Iranian Embassy, London 1980:
Recent reports say strikes into Iran killed the daughter in law and grandchildren of the now deceased Ayatollah. It can’t get more personal than that.
I think the Iranian attention span is heightened right now if the above report is true.

If parents and children love each other, you'll be right, since decisions in such cases are not rationally. The can't be in such cases as they always follow the heart. It's more than possible that I would decide as these women, who are flying back to Iran.

One example happened in 2025 in Germany. A couple with their young boy was playing on the banks of the river Rhine. The child somehow fell into the water and was immediately swept away by the flood. The father immediately jumped in after him, with the result that both drowned.

But in some cases parents don't love their children at all. Ask my wife what she had experienced with both of her parents. In 2011 we cut all contact to them, leaving them alone until their deaths, not even coming to their funerals.

They already put their kids' lives in danger by not singing the anthem. Why would you do that if you're not single, childless and without family that may get in danger because of it.

A woman who fled North Korea with her daughter, a guard wanted to rape the daughter and she said: rape me instead, which he did.

I know all about parents that do not love their children because I spent four years as a social worker in a child protection unit. The type of abuse I saw was horrendous. I saw a three month old baby with a black eye and a two year-old that was sexually abused. I was talking about normal people that love their children.
