Never been into sports that I didn't participate in directly. Baseball, Boxing, racketball. I have a hard time with the outrageous amounts of money involved over something as simple a game. Just imagine all the good that could be done that kind of money. I have seen quite a few of them, as we have friends at our winter home who have a big party every year. I would guess that maybe half of the people there actually watch the game. Mike

True, they do spend a great deal of money on it but they generate even more revenue in return. This means massive increases in tax revenues that go into creating jobs and financing municipal projects. Player and team organizations donate many MILLIONS of dollars every year that finance schools, hospitals, charitable institutions such as Police Athletic League and Salvation Army. This unlike the military industrial complex that generates billions in untaxed profits that are sheltered in overseas accounts and do not benefit society in any way.

In Canada they’re not permitted to broadcast the Super Bowl commercials. My husband will have the tv on and I’ll glance at it occasionally, so I don’t consider that watching. For a couple years they permitted the commercials and I made sure to watch them.

Canadians are smart. As for me, I NEVER watch those commercials. Do crossword puzzles or do some stuff on my computer instead.

Amazing that a thread about watching the Superbowl turns to talk about the Military Complex, Corporation spending
and the like.

Guess you can find evil in any gathering now a days.

As for me, I'll be watching and trying to enjoy it for what it is.

My husband is watching it as usual, we both would like Cincinnati to win, but are okay with the game results. Good luck to both teams. Unless my husband calls me in for something of note, I am not watching.

What's not to like? Big sweaty guys in tight pants beating the tar out of each other.......lots of excitement......I don't care who wins so there's no disappointment......a spectacular half-time show......people having a good time.

It beats the heck out of watching Olympic curling.
Olympic curling! Now that is a riotous, entertaining sport !!!
