Weight Loss Accountability/Support Group Thread

I responded to this when you posted a few days ago, @Wayne ... I'll re-paste in case you didn't see it.
(y)๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿป๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿป๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ†๐ŸŽŠ This is great to hear, @Wayne ! Celebrating with you for the weight loss. Editing here to say that I looked back over old posts and see that it was leg surgery... I hope that's healing well for you! yes a total new knee job,

I am doing better every week especially with the pt thrown in. It is not sure for the weak at heart I promise you or as I see it. The weight loss was not ever thought of as a by product, it just happened. I am just not hungry like I used to be, even for my #1 food steak, all I can do now just to finish a small one and used to eat 2 med-lg size ones easy.

Down 2.25 lb now. In all honesty, I was expecting more since I got serious about a month ago. I've never told this to a soul until now, but sometimes it's really tempting to just stop eating until those 16-18 lb. come off... and be done with it. (Well just enough to stay alive, I mean.)

A few years ago I got extremely sick with a flu and food poisoning from a restaurant at the same time... could barely eat a thing for two weeks and went down 11 lb. that fast. Thats why its tempting... I've seen it happen.

Closing down now to get some work done. I'll check back in the morning.

You lost 2 1/4 lbs in a week.
Thatโ€™s really good. ๐Ÿ‘
Iโ€™ve considered fasting also but I enjoy eating too much. Lol

No... in a month. last Tuesday it had been 1.5 since I started... and now it's only 2.25 and I've not messed up at all. That first pound and a half happened in four days... water weight, I'm sure.
At least itโ€™s not going up. ๐Ÿ‘
Itโ€™s still a success. ๐Ÿ†
I just hope we are all starting this challenge on the date you started this thread which was July 17. Weight loss before then should be irreverent.

I finally hit 40 pounds lost today from a 42 jeans to a 32 just by cutting back on the amount of food intake. I just do not have the appetite I used to since my surgery. My new 42 jeans just fall off me, I am still dropping pounds here. All this was not planned but I am so glad for it. My surgery date was 4/6/23. I had Physical-therapy several days a week and in facility almost every day after surgery 6 hrs from 0700 -1400 time frame every day but 1. Then to a gym 3 days a week and just got back home from it and doubled my time there non stop while there. Started on my back muscles today with 100 LBS weight. I have never done anything like this before. I have plans to go back Wednesday and Friday this week for more workouts.
I totally missed this post of yours. It answers my question about whether you had physiotherapy. Thatโ€™s incredible progress. You must be feeling great and to start at 100 pounds is impressive. Are you saying this is the first time you started weight lifting? Itโ€™s a GREAT start if thatโ€™s the case.

Like most people, I am also struggling with weight loss. I was 210 pounds, came down to 160 before last Thanksgiving, and am 170 pounds at 87 years. I have not yet given up coming further down. My ideal would be 150 pounds.

Exercise, dieting, will-power, and no stress are the essential ingredients of weight loss for me. Most people fail short of will-power and the inability to avoid stress. So, I am walking every day for two hours with my 3 Boxer dogs for stress control and better health.

Walking at sunrise is so uplifting when you hear the birds singing. They have so little but seem to be so happy. We could learn from them. For your mental health and sanity, be satisfied with what you have and donโ€™t try to keep up the Johnsons.

The stomach is trainable for the better or worse. After two weeks of eating smaller portions and less frequently, I start feeling full even with smaller portions. Just one cup of oats in the morning, a small can of sardines at noon, and a greater meal around six in the evening. I am fasting between 6 pm and 8 am. I am also taking nutritional supplements.

It helps to avoid calorie-rich food, and eating instead fiber-rich veggies and snack on fruits.

I used to eat for all the wrong reasons, but not because I was hungry. I now have learnt that it is perfectly all right to feel a little bit hungry at times. You have to control your stomach, and not the other way around (and that requires will-power.)

My main incentive for losing weight is that I want to reach the magic number of 100 (thirteen more years to go) while staying mentally and physically in a relatively good shape.

Last not least, a positive attitude towards life helps -- today is the first day of the rest of my life -- God loves you and so do I -- Today is the day God has made for you and me -- happy is who forgets what cannot be changed -- Niebuhrโ€™s Serenity Prayer -- be grateful -- and so on.

Well, the above are merely my personal experiences. PS, on the first picture: no, I don't have a big belly; the T-shirt is hanging out loose.

I am still doing the intermittent fasting and having one regular meal and sometimes a short meal or snack most days, and a day every now and then where I just eat normally and do not fast.
I believe that I am feeling better with doing the intermittent fasting, even though the weight loss is still slow as a snail. Part of that is maybe because we are going to the fitness center almost every day now and i am swimming for an hour, plus walking about 2 miles over the course of each day; so I am making more muscle. Muscle weighs more than the same amount of fat, so if I am losing fat but gaining muscle, it would slow down what i see on the scale.
My clothes are starting to feel looser again, which encourages me.

Here is one of the graphs that I have from the Lose It app that shows how my meals are broken down , as far as macros. I have several other graphs that measure things like calorie intake , meal timing and other stuff. This one is the last 3 months.

Everyone doing okay these last few days? I've not gone over my 1200 kcal, so doing well. We're having another heat wave and I find that I want a lot more water than I do food, so it works out for the best. ๐Ÿšฐ
Tonight's meal was turkey and gravy over mashed potatoes and mixed veggies for the side.

You have 3 boxers. They look very healthy and for 87, you arenโ€™t doing too bad yourself.
When I see people like you still out and about exercising, it gives me much inspiration. Your walking places look nice and so does your exercise equipment. Good for you.

Truthfully Iโ€™m having a bad day today.
I didnโ€™t walk. I didnโ€™t care what I ate.
Itโ€™s a total FAIL for me today but Iโ€™m just going to try for tomorrow. I think I pushed myself too much yesterday.

Anyway Iโ€™m not even logging in what I ate. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Later guys. ๐Ÿ˜…

I'm back and plan to start posting here. Ate too much whilst on vacation, will try to do better today. It's early, nothing to report yet, off to the gym soon.
Glad to see you back safe from vacation and it really wouldn't be much of a vacation if we didn't eat too much on them. :giggle: Looking forward to your posts. I haven't any more close calls with wanting ice cream for dinner and I'm glad for that! Enjoy the gym. @Alligatorob

The gym? What do you do at the gym?
Today was a near record, almost 4 hours. However I do not do a lot of aerobics and don't push myself real hard. Don't take breaks, just keep moving the whole time. Going more for stamina than fastest or strongest. Today I did about 2 hours of weight lifting/exercise band kinds of things on my own, a Tabata class and ended with a yoga class. This afternoon I have a Physical Therapy session for my neck/shoulder that will be another about half an hour workout, I don't count the easy stuff. Do you go to a gym, or do planned exercises?

Thanks for the absolution!! ...not looking forward to stepping on the scales tomorrow morning.

Good work on the ice cream.

Holy smokes Rob. Youโ€™re putting us all to shame here. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ Thatโ€™s a major work out.
I couldnโ€™t do all that. No way but good for you.

In the pictures you uploaded while on vacation, you didnโ€™t look overweight at all.
Is this merely for strength training and cardiovascular reasons?

I used to go to the gym at the military base where we used to live. It was a beautiful gym with an Olympic sized pool, indoor running track, strength training and aerobics training exercise equipment as well as yoga and other types of classes. I got a discount due to DH being ex-military. It was a great gym which I really miss. Itโ€™s probably how and why I gained all this weight.

Anyway, now I usually drive to go on the nice walks that I prefer which is completely fine and I stopped doing yoga which I used to totally enjoy.

Iโ€™ve got some exercise equipment downstairs Iโ€™m bringing up so I am more apt to use it if I see it. Iโ€™ve got a bench and some hand weights. Iโ€™ve also got a climbing apparatus piece of equipment as well as a 200 plus lb. boxing stand / bag for boxing ๐ŸฅŠ which will stay downstairs but Iโ€™d really like to start that.

So ToDAY I will start a regular routine and add pictures of my exercise equipment later.
