Dixie Chicks (now just known as The Chics): Goodbye, Earl

Love that song! And the video is so great, I've gotta post it! The cops "searched the house high and low" makes me laugh.

Don't think I'll ever be able to think of the group other than the Dixie Chicks ...like maiden names stick for school friends long after they marry and take their husband's names. Thinking the name change was probably an attention seeking thing anyhow since they're from the South and other than the song Dixie, it doesn't have a negative connotation. One of my black friend's email addy is DixieDarling@ ....

Hit The Road Jack...

Throttle, the Australian DJ from Melbourne has a new single. It is an upbeat throwback to a cliché that's been used many times but not quite like this. Back in it's heyday, the song won a grammy award for best R&B single thanks to Ray Charles.

My favorite type of break up song is sung by a woman who is happy to have gotten ride of a sub-par man. Here's a favorite of mine that I'm sure no one here will have ever heard of. I'll take a look for some more of these chestnuts because there are definitely several I like.

There is an ironic song written and performed by Brad Paisley entitled "I'm gonna miss her", (and includes lines where having claimed how he was gonna miss her, then says: "looka here I got a bite", as he was enjoying a days fishing! ;):giggle: ).

Remember the first time you heard "It's a Heartache" that must have been in the 80's
I thought it was some time of joke, that gravely voice more gravely than Ron Stewart.
I'd never heard of the girl. DJ's keep playing it, i liked it.

Dixie Chicks, burns my hinny that they had to change their name. Really!

Thanks for posting that wonderful video, Annie! I have the song on a CD, had never seen the video.

I also laughed at the cop searching for Earl behind the picture frame. But my own favorite line is: "It turned out he was a missing person who nobody missed at all."
