What are you doing today 2023

Seems every year it needs a major repair, then I feel I have to keep it that much longer to get the investment back out of it.
A car, unless it's a classic car, is not an investment, nor are maintenance and repairs. With an investment, there is an expectation that it will be worth more than it cost.

Car ownership is expensive. Repairs and maintenance are part of ownership. Get the repairs done. Remember the old saw: A stitch in time saves nine. In your case, a stitch in time saves a heckuva lot of money.

While you're at it, when's the last time you had your transmission serviced? Maintenance is waaaay cheaper than repairs.

What am I doing today……
This is what I did this morning…..

Are you all ready to hear about this…..HOLD on TIGHT.

Was on the phone over an hour……securing an apartment for myself for the 1st of June.
It’s in the same place…..an hour away.

This is not the “ 55 plus and Age in Place facility that i’v been posting about “
This a regular apartment with a mix of all ages.
Pets are welcome.

I decided I am to young for that type of facility……plus…..it didn’t leave me a lot of money to do other things.

Are you all passed out on the floor. 😉🥴☺️😁😱😱😱😱😱😱☺️🥴😉.

Stay tuned for posting about this in the thread “ Where will your next move take you “…..Retirement living.

Looking at wedding dresses for Fall wedding.

Our friend's son is getting married.
His mother & I are taking the bride to be shopping.

Bride to be & her husband to be both like out door things,, hunting, etc.
She was talking hunting /leafy colored out fits. 😱 accccck

She's not a girly type, has no idea of what she wants.
Robust build.

I think they want an outdoor wedding ,, too.

So far I've thought short dress & modest type.
I hope you'll support the bride's choices, even if they're accccck!

Okay, today. I have a meeting right at supper time. I needed to cook some meat before it expired, and it takes a while to cook. So I decided to cook and eat "supper" at lunch time, and have something quick after the meeting.

Probably no exercise. I exercise for less than an hour a day, but it seems to take all day.

I'll focus on reviewing some documents and getting ready for the meeting. It's kind of too far to walk, but I think I'll walk, just to get some "outdoor" time. And a bit of exercise too (although my knees won't thank me).

Enchiladas in the oven. DD and I are going to eat early because she has to take DGD to physical therapy at 5:30. DSIL won't be home until later...how much later is anybody's guess...so he'll get leftovers. He likes green enchiladas, and they're not really leftovers until tomorrow, right?

All you wrote is very true.

Most vehicles fall under the category of "depreciating assets" rather than investments, but I understand Deb's point. If you put $1000 into engine work, you want to be able to use the car for at least another year or so to get your money's worth.

Regular maintenance on homes and vehicles is cheaper in the long run, and keeps them safer.

Considering @debodun keeps a car for 20 years, this might be the time to invest in a new one with all the things that help with driving. A new one should last her driving lifetime. With limited vision in one eye like Deb has, I know things like backup cameras, warning lights, etc, etc. are a real aid. If she didn’t have the finances for a new car, I’d be advocating for maintaining her old one.

yep agree in the Main.. however 1k into an engine repair.. then a few weeks later another expensive repair for something else.. and then 12 months later something else. and so it goes on. There comes a time when you have to say there's more going into treating the symptoms than there is to curing the problem

They didn't put what brand of tires on which they quoted a price. I sent them an email asking and I'm awaiting a reply. Whatever they are, they must have gold valve stems.

I have Douglas tires on the front and Goodyear on the rear. I got those Douglas just before the pandemic started, so they aren't that old, but the mechanic said one was "oval shaped" and had belt separation and that was what was causing the vibrations. He also said the Goodyear (which I've probably had about 10 years) treads were getting shallow with 4/32 tread, whatever that means.

If I get a new car and lose vision on the other eye and they would end my driving days and I would have spent a lot of money on a piece of machinery I can no longer use. Then again, I may never lose vision in my right eye. Ah well, life keeps you guessing.

However if the worst was to happen after you bought a newer car.. at least you'd have something to sell..

I slept later than usual this morning. I woke up and used the bathroom and went back to sleep. Rabbit was wondering what the heck I was doing. Yesterday tired me out working in the kitchen because I have to stand for a longer periods of time than I usually do. The good thing though is I have what I need to make meals now.

All my local friends are posting pictures of robins in their yards now. I am just waiting for it to warm up a bit. I am eager to spend some time in the parks. For now..........just hot coffee.

Zoom meeting with my therapist. We are working on my fear & dread of AccessARide. It actually helped for last week's trip, but I have so much more to learn. I Zoom this therapist every other week. AccessARide has been my biggest pain, thank goodness it's not something even worse.

Tomorrow I'm staying over for dinner so AAR will be an hour later. An hour closer to my "I'm so tired I must go to bed" time.....I feel like a hostage with AAR, gives me panic.

March madness is that yearly college basketball big thingy that takes over CBS for a week. Y&R is getting real good, as it is in it's 50th year and there are cast reunions. Today will be fun; there is a big masked ball in Genoa City and you know how parties always go down!
I especially loved Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor) and was so sad when she died. I watched the very first episode of that show and was hooked forever or so I thought. Eventually I had to get a job and go to work when I got my first divorce (my previous jobs when I was single were evenings so I could watch).

I started watching Y&R when All My Children ended about 10 years ago. That was my show, and I miss it every day!
