What are you doing today 2023

I'm finally up after sleeping the sleep of the innocent last night. The big storm we were expecting must have happened because everything outside is wet, but I didn't hear a thing. It's supposed to be sunny and cooler today. Maybe we won't even hit 80. Suits me.

Except for a trip to the bank today, there's no particular plan. However...the bank is right across the street from one of the garden centers, and there's still $55 left on one of my gift cards:). Stay tuned.

Believe it or not, my apartment has the original locks from 70 years ago. Tumblers were changed a time or two; a top lock was added a decade or so later. Everyone else, everyone, has deadbolts. I'm the only one with the original locks! Never been robbed, it's a pretty safe bldg. Last night dreamed I was being robbed. Didn't sleep well. My stomach hurts. I'm complaining, sorry.

Very humid this morning.... It's 80 deg.. at 11.30am.. the Thunderstorms never arrived... I'm hoping they will today... Last night it was 87 deg in my bedroom, so I had to give in and put the fan on, and I slept better, but it's a concern for me because I can't afford to have it on every night.. or even during the day when it's really needed.

I have as always. all the windows open.. just keeping fingers crossed the rain arrives today.. One month's worth in 12 hours they were predicting.

Staying home today.. tomorrow I'm going to take a 40 mile round trip to an Open air pool.. and keep my fingers crossed there's space to swim.. we're so short on public pools here, they're always packed full when it's summer

The weather here is as fine as it can be, and the promised storms were a myth. So wifey has hit the shops with my sister and I sit here in the conservatory listening to the water splashing in the pond due to noisy fish mating in earnest as they have been for the past three days. The magic of nature and new life being formed against the background of birdsong, the downside being the pond will be over run with fish next year. The Pigeons are in the bird bath, shame folk believe Pigeons are stupid creatures, when in fact they are the most intelligent after humans and chimps.

@hollydolly If it's not too humid, wet towels and wring them out, hang in windows if there's a breeze. If no breeze, hang in front of a fan when you dare to use the electricity.
thanks Gigi... no breeze here at all.. but I'll do that with the towels when I can put the fans n...DD told me the same thing.

She's ok with the heat .. she's at work in an Air conditioned office.. and when she gets home in the evening. she feeds and exercises the dogs, comes back has a shower.. eats and then goes to bed.. she's in bed by 9pm and up at 5am ..she says she keeps her curtains and blinds closed all day to keep the cool in...she's used to trying to keep things cooler after living in the hottest part of Spain for many years.. she had no AC in her finca either but because it was a 200 year old building the walls were about 3 feet thick, and the windows were small and even the outside door was metal.. so it was kinda self cooling..

Morning breakfast clubbers..!!! Global warming??? where did
that go, it is 55 deg F now brrrrr...only up to 75f later today...
Had to call a handyman to come cut up and haul away two
large tree limbs, one fell yesterday off my tree, and one that
fell off neighbors tree last week....may do a bit of laundry today, can't think of other projects....

Not much of a breeze today and very humid. "Just Weather App" says it's 22°C and it's RealFeel as well.

So, it's Monday, once more 😒and the waiting game is back on. Waiting for someone to return a message left on Friday.

You know, the worst part of losing your better half is not being able to discuss what's troubling you, without consequences. As these are private.

Then, the ultimate is contacting someone who finally provides concrete help in resolving the issues.

Argh! Ooh that feels better already... Later, soon it'll be Tuesday and extractor fan in bathroom due in the day. Managed to clean the worst of the black (dried) mould on the walls and bath. Phew!

Lunchtime and breaktime...

yes and that's in Scotland where the temps rarely ever get above 65 lol... so you can imagine how hot it is here down South.... right now it's 82 deg ( 28 deg c)

I'm sorry you've got black mould in your home.. what's causing it ?

Yesterday……got a lot of things brought up from downstairs, no furniture, just under the bed type storage containers, full…..a lot of other packed stuff as well.
I will cost me less if everything is on the main floor.
Did some packing……thinking. 🤔.

Today…..coffee with a friend this morning, after I drop off a few things for donation.
If the wind doesn’t get up too high, maybe some spraying.
Packing.
1 week from today…..movers are here. 😮😲😳.

Today, right now, I am trying to talk myself into taking my duvet cover down to the laundry .
I luv my queen size down duvet but I hate changing the covers.
Chilly weather again and we have no heat on in the building so I have been using my heating pad on back of my chair to keep warm.
Good for the achy bits too.
Got my macular eye jab coming up on Wednesday so trying to keep busy.
Always feel a little 'antsy' for couple of days before so a fight with the duvet cover might be a good idea.
Been up since 5.30 so time for a coffeeCOFfEECUP2.gif

Have the best day you can peeps !....(y)

For the last 25 minutes I've been doing battle with bureaucracy on the phone... I go through the whole 9 yards, they then ''deal with it'' and suddenly find a little caveat.. so they pass me to someone else.. and I'm put on hold.. now I'm on hold for the third time.. with the dreadful music.. and the continuing ''your call is important to us'' bilge every few seconds.. I was perfectly pleasant to these people .. but now I'm starting to get a bit of a red mist..😖

Doesn't matter if you're pleasant with bureaucrats @hollydolly

"What is a Kafkaesque Bureaucracy? It is “a surreal world in which all your control patterns, all your plans, the whole way in which you have configured your own behavior, begins to fall to pieces, when you find yourself against a government force that does not lend itself to the way you perceive the world. You do not give up; you do not lie down and die. What you do is struggle against officialdom’s commands with all your ability, with whatever you have. But of course, you do not stand a chance. That is Kafkaesque.” Kafkaesque is a description of government oppressive behavior through official processes that result in absurdities, offensiveness, charades, shams, bureaucratic pretentiousness, deceit, trickery, and duplicity. It is in many ways a farce. It oppresses with red tape, official procedures, and regulatory authority by decree."

Kafkaesque Bureaucracy and the dubious morality of ..

Very humid this morning. I got a couple of errands done, more for the walk than anything. Almost home and the storms started - rain and thunder - was great actually; no one else around, just me, happily walking along in the rain :)

Weather brightened up a bit earlier but we now have thunder and rain. I don't mind if it rains all night, I'm home and the fans are doing a good job of keeping us cool.

Trish where are you...roughly... I can't remember.... We've not had a single sign of rain today..the skies got grey for about an hour then the sun came back out, and blue skies again.. but the humidity is awful
