What are you doing today 2023

Got up too early thanks to Maggiecat wanting her breakfast.

It's overcast and cool so I've already been in the garden deadheading stuff and pulling some weeds. It got old fast, and I'm already back in...probably for the day. Maybe it'll rain. Maybe it won't.

There's some laundry to do. Not feeling it.

Mind going back in time females were being taken into trades as apprentices including plumbing. From adverts, it seems to be working, but while not wishing to be unkind, I still lack the confidence to hire one. In my working days, and I was not a plumber, my firm took on a young lady apprentice. Made me smile however that at no point in time did they send her out with me for reasons unknown:):D, preferring to send her with the pious worker who was prim and judgemental about all things and fellow operatives. You know, every forum has a few. However, he put her in the family way, so that was a short apprenticeship.
Baking hot here, I want to drive down to the seaside with the top-down and get some fish and chips and ice cream, but wifey reckons it is too hot. So on here, most like off-topic as normal.

Good morning..... I'm still trying to wake up. I've go my

Where did the week go to?!!! Although I've popped in to read your posts once in a while, I don't know when I last posted.....and the days have flown by!

We have had beautiful weather! That means that I've been out in the garden a lot! On some days, I've come in at night with a mild rash. Nothing serious, but....really?!!! 🙄

Our new neighbors have opened a business, right next to us. This is not allowed, per the covenant and an existing court order. So we have hired an attorney to put a stop to it....again. We went through all of this with the last owner. (sigh)

Did I mention that the Summer School parties are starting at the roller rink? Thankfully, there aren't as many what we had in May, but they are still going to be busy. Per usual, each one will have over 100 kids, and the first one is this Friday. Wait! What?! That's tomorrow, all ready!!! Here I go again!

. Have a great day!

Today the water is off for some plumbing work somewhere in the building, so I got up early to ensure I'd get to have a shower and brush my teeth.
Then today is my regular grocery shopping day but I need to make an extra stop to buy some polyurethane to coat the foot rest I built yesterday. I say I built it, but most of the work (all the sawing) was done by the woodshop monitor because apparently my inexperience and ineptitude displays in flashing lights above my head. But I was allowed to use the drill press to make holes, so my contribution consisted of sanding, drilling, and screwing. I'm so proud of myself, ha ha.

Yesterday was awful. I had to take my Maltese to the vet for a heart ultrasound and she also had an anal gland infection. Her brother has terrible separation anxiety so had to take him with me and stay home with him until she returns.

Finally got the call to pick her up and it’s pouring rain which is unusual for Reno. It’s a long drive and about 3/4ths there I heard a loud noise and think maybe someone stole my catalytic converter. No but it’s a flat tire.

So I sit in the car with both dogs for over a hour waiting for roadside assistance while they bark at every dog that goes in and out of the vet. He changes the tire and then tells me that the donut needs air and to get it at the closest gas station since he forgot to put his hose in the truck. So now I have to find a full service gas station because I don’t have an air gauge or any idea how to do it.

By the time I get home I have a headache and the dogs and myself are starving. Won’t have the results for a few days until the doggy cardiologist reads them. I am also about 1k poorer.
Sounds like a terrible day. Vet costs are crazy high - I feel your pain on that front. Our last dog also had terrible separation anxiety so I can commiserate on that, too. Hoping the news is good on your Maltese's tests.

If you've experienced problems with putting on your duvet cover, my kids founds this video a while back, on YouTube. It's such an easy job now to put a cover on any duvet. Here's hoping you'll enjoy this great tip!

This is ingenious! Thanks for sharing it with us. I had plans to strip the duvet cover off our RV comforter this week and run it through the laundry. Will let you know how it works out, what with the attached clips the cover comes with.

The fellow I am staying with here in southern Florida and I were watching some mystery show at about 10:30 last night when there was a quiet knock at the door. It was the lady next door whose husband has cancer and is dying. She said they did chemo yesterday and he must have been sick and got some vomit on his bed linens, but they were to be changed anyway today. She said he is so weak now from the chemo he can't even get out of the bed for her to change the bed linens and if we could somehow help.

I told her sure, that's right up our alley. We did what is called a blanket roll where you roll the victim on one side of their body and place a rolled up blanket as close as you can, then unroll it and turn the body to the other side and now the body is in the middle of the blanket, which acts like a gurney. My friend picked up one end and I picked up the other end and we lifted the body and laid him on the floor until she was done changing the linens and then reversed the way we started. No problem.

It's been 85 deg today, so I went swimming.... 🏊‍♂️🌞 to the outdoor pool I mentioned before. I can't tell you how overjoyed I was to get in that pool. It was pretty busy, and it was lane swimming which I hate, but I managed to get a whole hour of enjoyment..about 20 or more lengths backstroke , ( can't push it any more than that the first time in 3 years) ...before the pool started getting crowded with teachers and their classrooms full of little kids... and the younger teen boys all showing off to the younger teen girls... so it was time for me to leave.but I really had a fab time...just a pity it's so far away..

After the swimming..I drove into the nearest town and had a late lunch and an ice cold drink at the pub...then walked around some really huge Consignment stores ...didn't buy anything but it was just a lovely day...☺️

I used MapQuest to try to get a bird's-eye view of my delivery route stops. To get an idea of the scale, between A and B (bottom of map) is about 1.5 miles (2.4 km). This doesn't include distance from home to the meal pick up site (A) and then from there back home again, but I'm fairly close to K, so add another 8 miles for that round trip.

Went grocery shopping really early so I wouldn't have to do it after delivering meals. On the way back I saw something on a side road that didn't look like trash. I got out and it was a small (about 12 inches long) snapping turtle. And it lived up to its name. I wanted to get it out of the road, but apparently didn't want my help. They are tricky to pick up since that can swirl around and like to chomp at anything that moves. I saw a stick and used that to coax it off of the road.

The meal route today was 28.8 miles long, but there were two cancellations ( C and D on the map). If I add the distance from my house to A (the pick up point) and back home from there, is another 8.6 miles (37.4 miles total - 60 km). When I have the full route distance, I'll post an update.

The lady told us last night that they gave her husband 2 weeks to 2 months 4 weeks ago. This morning, the nurse from Hospice showed up and she started him on morphine and said he is getting closer.

75F today and sunny. Good rain yesterday.

Went for groceries at Aldi, then to Walmart for khaki shorts and tee-shirt for GS's B-Day. He has jeans and a plaid shirt on the way from Amazon from me, too.

Put groceries away, washed produce and now heating water to boil my frozen shrimp for shrimp salad. Planning on shrimp sandwich, asparagus and strawberries in Greek yogurt for supper.

What a beautiful day! I went for a stroll...

All of the leaves in the trees were waving at me
Every blade of grass bowed as I sauntered by
The birds all tittered as I spun in a circle
And Raised my arms to the freshly scrubbed blue sky
It's so good to be alive!

:)

Was supposed to go out of town to a funeral today. We weren't close but he was family.
Big storms here in Alabama and the funeral was cancelled !!!
So sitting at home on SF, drinking coffee and baby sitting a scaredy dog that doesn't like thunder.
And thunder only happens when it's raining

Christine McVie. A reminder that we do not live forever.

Hi @StarSong, I've different types of duvet covers. Some are clear buttons with button holes. Others have wee white clips. I enjoy decorating, so over the years, I've accumulated 4 different styles aka one for each season. It means I've a duvet set for winter, one Spring, Summer and Autumn.

I also have two duvets. 4.5 TOG for the summer months and a 10.5 TOG for the colder months. Plus a cheeky one for the Christmas Holiday Season lol!

The triple head clip set I've got are to put at each corner of mattress to hold fitted and waterproof sheets. These are what they look like:
