That is one I have not tried to make at home. I always order it when we go out (son and family) that have it on the menu. I have learned to make a decent cheddar bocolli, a good potato, chicken noodle, beef vegetable soup. I guess like you said seems like it takes a good while to cook those onions down slowly. Might be in my mind not everyone one like it. I also like recipes I know will freeze well. Do you ever freeze your french onion?
I never have. Last time I made it was over 20 yrs ago for husband #2, and there was nothing left to freeze. lol

I imagine that it would freeze ok though.

It's a beautiful morning! The rain has gone (for now), the sun is out and the windows open! I will be visiting mum today but first, I need to buy cake - you can't go to see your mum without taking cake :)

Have a good day everyone x

Weather is lousy here - cold, windy and frequent showers, so it looks like another day watching snooker. It's the final of the "Masters" tournament today and so far few of the matches have gone as expected.
There was a bright spell yesterday afternoon so we went to Banff for a stroll and buy some things in Tesco. Guess who we bumped into at the checkout - Elvis. He's an Elvis impersonator who's been around for many years and always dresses as Elvis when he goes out. People just accept him as another local, though visitors are surprised to see him.

Plan is to bake cookies and dog cookies, do laundry, read my book, and do a bunch of chores, plus take a nap. I got up at 2 a.m., so eventually I'll get sleepy. It is pretty freaking cold out, so if I go anywhere (which would be 12 miles away -- otherwise there is nowhere to go), I have to check the road conditions re ice.

I just dropped my phone and the screen is filled with cracks. I vaguely recall that I have a protection plan on it, and that I was going to cancel it, but decided not to. I'll check. The screen just needs to be replaced. And now I see why, after having cell phones forever and dropping one just this once, I should get a screen protector.

Not sure what the day will bring yet. Having coffee and just gave my bunny boy his morning banana. I know for sure I will be washing dishes since I did (2nd time lately) not do them last night. Sink is full but I could not stand at all. Had to get my feet up and keep them up. I don't like doing that and especially when I have a lot. Normally I wash them through out the day right after I use them. I will be taking my morning walk with my friend and other routine household chores.

It's almost 6:45 am, I have not yet slept. Made coffee to perk up some, but I really am getting tired.
I'd planned on doing more cooking for the freezer, but I dunno, now.

I ordered new dish towels from Amazon and they stuck them in large mail lockers up the road a bit.
Most of mine are little better than rags at this point.

Maggiecat thought it would be okay to let me sleep this morning. Good kitty.

DD and I are going Walmarting this morning. We don't have anything else that needs doing so I suggested that we dress weird and spend the day there so that we would be videod for a segment of People of Walmart. She nixxed that idea.

@RadishRose You probably won't believe it, but I have three dishtowels that are more than 100 years old. Yup. For sure. They were made from muslin flour sacks as a bridal shower gift for a friend of MIL. When her friend moved to assisted living, she gave them to MIL and told her the story behind them. When MIL died, I got the dishtowels. They're still going strong with no thin spots, and the only signs of wear are along the edges where they were hemmed. The initials of the giver are embroidered in a corner of each one.

@Georgiagranny — Girl, you ain’t right! 🤣🤣🤣

I was informed that despite todays' sun , tomorrow we're getting the snow back.🌨️🌨️❄️.so I've just been up to the Barn to cover everything in tarpaulin in case the roof leaks again , and get as much food from the freezer, and store cupboard to stock up in the house in case it last a while..

Glorious day.. I've got all the windows open.. I can hear people doing some D-I-Y in their gardens..

I'd go out myself, but I'm waiting for a delivery.. .. won't come until between 3-5pm by which time it'll be dark..

Of course I believe you, GG. How interesting and rare! Thanks for sharing that.
