What are you doing today 2023

We're at the Tampa zoo today. There's a water ride where you get in a "boat", go up a long ramp, around a track and then down a long incline hitting the water where a huge wave breaks over you.

I had the 4-year old on one side, cackling in anticipated delight and the 7-year-old on the other side, howling in terror and trying to burrow in between two of my ribs.

We hit the bottom, get drenched and the 7-year-old comes out from under my armpit, grins and says, "Let's do it again!!!

So, we did....four more times. I am wringing water out of my clothes....literally...and they want to stand on the observation deck that also gets drenched when a boat goes down the chute.

So, we do. For 15 minutes. I mean, why not. There's not a square inch of me that's not beyond sodden. It's hotter'n hell and it feels good. It's Florida, after all.

Then it starts raining. Of course.

Altogether a great day. I'm exhausted.

I had a lab appointment this morning. I hate having bloodwork so I'm glad the lab tech was gentle and got what she needed on the first try. Since I had to fast, after we left there, my son took me to Dunkin Donuts where I had a muffin (well...half) and decaf. I ate the rest of the muffin later. Then it was on to Costco. My son's new GF had given me a $50 gift card. It felt good leaving Costco with a bunch of stuff that I only paid $35 for. :D

When we left Costco, I told him to take me to Shoprite, which was sort of on the way home. I was looking for Ralston cream of wheat, which is about $3 cheaper than the name brand and just as good. My local supermarket (a Shoprite affiliate) hasn't had it for months and SR didn't have it either. I wound up getting quick cook grits; I'll see how that works out. I was able to find Starburst Pink Strawberry water enhancer, my favorite. The SR in another town that my son had gone to did'n't have it. I got 8 of them..$3.19 ea. Amazon is selling them for more than double the price!

I'm going to the mosque with my son tomorrow. I had in mind what I want to wear. Tried on the jacket and the sleeves were almost to my fingertips! Yes, I've shrunk since the last time I wore the outfit on a cruise in 2019, so I had to alter the sleeves (I must've partially rolled them up last time). I also put the outfit in the dryer with wet items so the heat would take out the hard wrinkles (the material is made with a slight wrinkly effect).

I really didn't have to make dinner because my son made bean soup and I have other quick to warm up meals in the freezer, but I was in the mood for penne with broccoli and mozzarella. It's so easy and relatively quick to make, so that's what I had.

All day I’ve been doing little things; couldn’t tell you what any of them are. A couple of walks. Love when fall is still hot. A quick trip for bread and then we watched a Netflix movie, Insomnia. Squamish BC filled in for much of a little town in Alaska.

Yesterday was wonderful, tiring but well worth it. We met up with some friends whilst at The Ringwood Carnival, quite a few of us will be going along to the Swing Unlimited Big Band at Milford on Friday. One of the couples we met yesterday live near Milford. They suggested lunch at a lovely watering hole called The Lighthouse. So after church service this morning we shall join others for what promises to be a very convivial lunch, I might even get the old MG out and give it a run.

I'm feeling better getting rid of my head cold, still take antibiotic pills until Tues
On my early walk around 6:15,went to store bought local paper temp was 59
I can't go to church today,I'll be watching the service online at 10:30. Our church has been doing this ever since Covid started, its a great help for those who can't make it to church each week.

I'm still at my granddaughter's house as I'm spending another night here to watch the girls so she and her husband can go out on a "date" tonight.

I promised the girls that we will play "hotel" tonight. That involves turning the living room into a "hotel" with a blue blanket becoming a pool and couch cushions, blankets and chairs becoming rooms.

I am, of course, the long-suffering Front Desk Clerk, dealing with unreasonable requests like extreme room service and guests who sneak unauthorized pets into the hotel.

I am, of course, the one expected to disassemble the hotel later, as the guests are "too tired" after their luxurious stay to do any work.

Did I mention I am also the pool attendant, the room service waiter, the maid, the masseuse and the gym trainer? Oh, the golf pro, too.

These guests also sneak out on the bill, expecting to pay with hugs and kisses......which I accept gladly.

Today is the annual picnic at my Mom's church. We are going to go to the gym this morning, and then head over to the picnic. It's a beautiful day and I'm looking forward to it.

I hope you all have a beautiful day, too!

Latest and (hopefully) last update. Somebody up there is making sure that I don't lose touch with SeniorForums. Lots of damage from Lee to the left of us (looking north) because of drenching rain, lots of damage because of strong winds to the right of us and we, sitting right in the path of the storm, had practically no rain, and wind gusts no stronger than those of a medium winter storm! Now let's hope winds won't strengthen too much during the night!
And that's how it ended. Lee was a pussy cat in my immediate area. The damage is extensive in other areas but being in the direct centre of the storm must have been a blessing to all of us who lived in his path. If it had remained a hurricane, I guess the winds of the eye wall would have been a problem! And there I cut up my gigantic tomato plant for nothing. It wouldn't have moved an inch in Lee! Ah, well, how can I complain when we were spared flooding and wind damage! Nothing but gratitude here!

After yesterday afternoons lively street music fun, got a long night of sleep, so arose at dawn. Went to 7am mass. Completed some HTML programming creating 2 web pages I'll review and still tweak some before loading to the web. Will watch at least the first half of the 49ers Rams NFL game (only a minor football fan), then will return to the Los Gatos Art & Wine Festival to enjoy two rowdy rock/pop cover bands.

Update - baby grandson seems to have recovered completely. Ah, the magical resilience of young bodies! Thank you all for your kind words and concern over this. He's so precious to me. 💙❤️💙

Now that autumn is edging in, business obligations are slowing down. A few specialty orders will come in over the next few months, but the big pushes are over for 2023. It's the same rhythm every year. Early spring: gear up for summer sales. July & August: replenish out-of-stocks.
I came to specifically check for an update on him, and am very glad to find this one!🤩

I just tried to catch up on reading posts in this thread, which I would like to do,
but I am not able to do it.... I will try again, later.
My focus and concentration have not been good, the past couple of days.

I have been struggling with many difficulties, of mine and of DH's, and mainly trying to repeatedly prioritize on doing whichever small things, that are the most important, at each moment.

The big storm went by us, and we kept our power, which I am very thankful for.

I've been home for a while. It's a perfectly gorgeous day so I hauled my bony butt out to the iris bed in front of the house and started cutting them back. Only finished about a third, but tomorrow's another day, right? There's another bed of iris in back, but it's somewhat smaller than the one in front.

I ❤️ having a/c off and the windows open.

Doing laundry so it's not waiting for me tomorrow. Lunch was biscuits with leftover beef gravy. Tasty😋.

Now I'm gonna go outside and sit down with a glass of tea and admire the flowers.

@Georgiagranny As a last request I would love to try Southern Cuisine, just once. Every time I read about biscuits with gravy I drool! Add "Chicken Fried Steak" "Fried Green Tomatoes" "Hush Puppies" and I wish I lived south of the Mason-Dixon line!

Since I don't, please send some of the above by courier ... immediately! Along with croissants, of course, even though we get those here as well! But I know that yours HAVE TO BE BETTER!

Wut wo! Learned that nobody told TL to change her shift yesterday; that was her own idea.

I didn't work alone this morning. Sir came in (his day off) because TL called out. She and I are both off tomorrow, and it's her plan to call out Tuesday and Wednesday. She told me about Tuesday and Wednesday and swore me to secrecy. Sir said this morning that she told him yesterday about Tuesday and Wednesday. What????🤷‍♀️

She also told him that she wants to go back to the store from whence she came. Swore me to secrecy on that, too. Huh?

Also learned today that the cake decorating part of her job is 20 hours a week; the other 20 hours are supposed to be spent doing the same things I do. They aren't.

I dunno what's going on with her, but this ain't looking good.

All very strange, but in the words of Hercule Poirot, all will become clear. LOL

Needless to say, I have been fascinated by your continuing saga but wasn't in on it from the beginning, so it's bugging me: Who is TL? If it's an abbreviation of someone's name discretion would be the best thing but if it's anything else, inquiring minds want to know! :)

We've been painting Halloween figurines and decorations all afternoon.

I had a wooden plaque of a ghost and instead of painting him white, I painted a patchwork quilt.

The girls were scandalized until I explained that he didn't have a nice white sheet to wear and had to use his grandma's old patchwork quilt.

Now the 4-year-old wants to be a patchwork ghost for Halloween.

Sigh. I just made more work for myself. But isn't that what Meemaws are for?
