What are you doing today 2023

Hi, kids. I'm home. We're having an all-day rain. It's the nice kind of slow rain, and now they're saying our high temp probably won't even get to 70. Suits me. I love having the a/c off.

I dunno what went down in the bakery yesterday because I only worked until 11, and Sir's schedule showed him from 12-8 today so he wasn't there to tell me.

TL was there at 7. She wasn't on the schedule until 11 today but was called at home yesterday and told about schedule change today from 7-2. Hm.

She and I are both off Monday, and she told me that she's going to call out on Tuesday and Wednesday (oh, swell!). She also said that she's going to talk to the bakery manager at the other store where she worked before coming to ours and ask to go back there. She hasn't been replaced there yet. We're five minutes away from her house; the other store is 25 minutes away, but her schedule there was set to accommodate her kids' school hours.

Speaking of...my 6-10 schedule is back to 6-11, dammit. I didn't ask, but it's probably because the work isn't getting done (yet when anybody asks about working in the bakery, they're told that we're "fully staffed"). Oh, well, it gets me more vacation and PTO hours and a bigger paycheck.

Well, I don't know what to think of things at the moment. I got up, looked out the windows and so far Lee is no worse than our average winter storm! I hope the worst is not to come but am happy to have lights at the moment. At least this allowed me to have my usual Cuppa to help me wake up! (y):)
I guess I spoke too soon since Lee has yet to make its landfall and over 170.000 people are without power already in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. It will certainly be interesting later on today since the eye of the storm will go directly over where I live! If the power doesn't give out I will keep you updated!

Well this morning had a good start to hand HTML coding another web page. But am increasingly excited about this afternoon's event, a short 6 mile drive away.

Here in the San Francisco Bay Area with ideal, cooler end of summer weather, we are now into prime fall season art and music festival mode with events every weekend. Because of the area's wealth with many upscale small downtowns ideal for street fairs, it is a magnet for national art show crafters. Last weekend I enjoyed 2 days of too much freestyle dancing at the huge Mountain View Art & Wine Festival. Today by early afternoon will be at the weekend all day Los Gatos Art & Wine Fieste de Artes with an excellent line up of rock/pop/jazz cover bands.

Next weekend is the vast free multistage Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. In 2 weekends is the big naval Fleet Week Airshow in San Francisco. In three weekends is the large Santa Clara Art & Wine Festival. Into October are Oktoberfests in several suburban downtowns including the walk to event where I live with multiple music stages.

This morning we took Likkle Grandson to a local park. Then this afternoon I drove up to Garsdale to photograph a steam train. It was a bit windy!!!!
Goodness me there's a lot of steam trains in your area... much as they're beautiful things.. have they not invented electric trains up north yet ?:sneaky::D

Sounds like lots of fun. Enjoy yourself!

Funny. Didn't want a very dark one or an orange one. He's not too orange though. Just wanted what I never had before so they would be different

BTW
This is what I am doing today. Today and tomorrow.
@Georgiagranny
Take the "orangey" one, Pepper! He looks sweet! Of all the cats we had the male ones were the most affectionate! Imitating life, I guess! :)

Here we stood at the door and listened to the meowing of a tiny feral cat! I sternly turned to my wife: "No more cats!"

There was a good reason for that. Our previous cat, a female, had been insane! The walls of our parsonage had been plastered with wallpaper upon wallpaper until it was thick enough to make it quite easy for our dear cat to climb. And she loved nothing better! A running leap and then straight up to the top of the wall. What's not to enjoy.

Inevitably the large inch thick layer would pull away from the top of the walls and she would love dangling from the whole mess. I spent hours trying to make the walls look decent again! Therefore, NO MORE CATS!!!

Anyway, back to the unwelcome little beastie at my front door! Five minutes later I was on my way down the hill to our local grocer and bought cat food and milk! One last attempt to keep the promise to myself.

"Okay, we'll feed her! Him? But we won't let him into the house." One disapproving look by my better half and the tabby ended up inside ... and stayed there for the rest of his short life.

He was the only cat I ever had who would climb on my chest, look me in the eyes while pumping away with his sharp claws while purring like a Harley-Davidson! So sweet, I even forgave him the claw marks all over my chest!

Alas, we could never take the feral out of him. He couldn't stand staying in the house. He was a natural born roamer and, sadly, months later we got the news that he had been killed by a car that hadn't seen him on the narrow country road! R.I.P. Darn, the only cat I ever loved!

My daughter just called and asked what we were watching. She said I'll bet Dad has on MSNBC. I said I wish he was . He has Pimple Popper on and they are removing 2 large things from a guy's nose. She said to make him go watch it in another room. I said I tried but he said I would enjoy it.

Today was a "fix it" day. First, I replaced the fuel pump on my riding mower....it had been almost "dying" the last time I cut the lawn., I ran it all over the yard for about 30 minutes afterwards with no sign of trouble. Then, my big backpack leaf blower has been running rough, so I went through all the routine stuff...spark plug, etc., and when I got to the exhaust spark arrestor, I found the problem....it was almost clogged. After fixing that, it runs like new. It's kind of satisfying to fix stuff without having to spend a bunch of time and money taking things to a shop/dealer.

I did a little work in the hot garden this morning... took delivery of some parcels this afternoon.. and then spent the rest of the day clearing and transferring files and documents on my computer from one Ext HD to another...long laborious work,, There must be a quicker way but I can't see one... still doing it now.. and it's almost 1am..

I did however get to see the start of the New Season tonight of Strictly Come Dancing... while I was having dinner. I love that show, and we had a whole 2 hours of it tonight

Latest and (hopefully) last update. Somebody up there is making sure that I don't lose touch with SeniorForums. Lots of damage from Lee to the left of us (looking north) because of drenching rain, lots of damage because of strong winds to the right of us and we, sitting right in the path of the storm, had practically no rain, and wind gusts no stronger than those of a medium winter storm! Now let's hope winds won't strengthen too much during the night!

Dear @Don M. I am filled with admiration for someone (anyone) who can fix things!

Sometimes I feel so stupid when it comes to practical matters. I have a beautiful little flashlight that seemed to last forever, but that has been flickering a bit lately. I looked for one of those small removable plates, high and low on the grip, to see if there was a way to replace a battery.

Never found one and told my son-in-law: I guess that is one of those limited things that lasts for a bit and then you get rid of it because there's nothing on the darn thing that will allow you to install a new battery.

He looked at it for a moment, took the top of the flashlight, twisted it to the left ... and voila ... there sat an "AAA" battery, ready to be replaced! I shouldn't leave myself open to ridicule like this but I might possibly be a masochist!? :ROFLMAO:
