What are you doing today 2023

Had a doctor's appt. this afternoon. Got a regular flu shot. Must book appt. elsewhere for Covid shot. Blood-sugar good, everything else good. The only problem is that I can't take Metformin anymore. Forget the name of the new med! It will be online at my pharmacist's site. I hope there are no side effects with it.

I had a podiatry appointment at noon. I was going to walk there but started feeling myself get hypoglycemic. Feeling kind of weak, I ate a quick bowl of Cheerios because I was starting to run late. I ordered an Uber instead. My podiatrist says I'm his favorite patient and he loves our conversations. I enjoy them too. He's a very nice man who's demeanor reminds me of my PCP.

When I left the office, I felt well enough to walk home. I stopped at the supermarket to pick up a few items. One of them was Marie Callender's fettuccini alfredo with chicken and broccoli. After I ate that, I returned my BFF's call then took a nap. I'll update my budget spreadsheet, have a fudge pop, play more WWF, maybe watch a little T.V. then call it a night.

tomato soup cake (delicious!)
With cream cheese frosting? I haven’t made that in years. Perhaps I should. Pineapple cake was popular too in those days.

I used to clip recipes and only make some of them. When I switched to saving recipes in Word, I reviewed them and then I copied or took a photo. Sometimes I read them and would say WTH was I thinking. Now I have oodles and oodles of online recipes saved. I could never make this much food in the rest of my life.

@Naturally mother didn't do it except for two recipes she found in the Parade section of the Sunday paper. One was for tomato soup cake (delicious!) and the other was for corn sausage pie. Yup. Both sound weird, but they were good. I haven't had either of them in dogs' years! I dunno about my grandmothers.

If I didn't still work, I'd try new recipes. (Who am I kidding?)

Now I'm hungry after reading the recipes and remembering about the tomato soup cake and the corn sausage pie. So. I'm gonna have a bowl of ice cream instead.
I love tomato soup but never heard of tomato soup cake! Intriguing.

I had a nice Halloween, I walked over and watched the Hocus Pocus movie at one of the clubhouse auditoriums, walked home to get my purse, then walked to the grocery store to buy pitta and hummus to make a snack dish to take to our building's Halloween party. It was a nice party but very low turnout (maybe 20 people, tho a few more showed up right at the end). I had a super simple costume of cat ears, fuzzy paws (fingerless gloves with paw print markings), and a clip on tail. This has been the most Halloweeny year for me since my kid was little.

@Jules That tomato soup cake recipe is from the 50s. Yup. I'm old.

It's cold and gonna get colder before the sun comes up. The wind is howling and makes it feel even colder. At least it'll be a sunny day.

It's time to throw on my bread-making duds and get going 🚙🥐. I expect that TL will show up today. Yanno...now that she's had a good night's sleep.

I just read up the side effects of Empagliflozin .. and have decided I don't want to take it. Far too many nasty side effects that I don't want to deal with at this point.

Getting ready to head out for a short road trip this morning. 🚗 It's a cold one 🥶 but the ol' jalopy has a good heater. Freeze warning ❄️ out for tonight, but I'll be in a hotel room with the heater cranked up. The hotel has free gourmet coffee and hot chocolate in the lobby (perfect for cold weather!) so looking forward to a relaxing couple of days.

going for my flu and covid jab this a/noon,then out this evening for a meal,at the moment waiting for the storm to arrive
Storm has started here...Rain is steady and getting heavier...wind is getting up....

Not going anywhere today.. really needed to go and get some things done, but I'm not going out in the storm..I might get stranded in the floods somewhere

We didn't get the snow they predicted for Halloween and we might have a few dry days , even though it is cold out, I might be able to finish a few outdoor projects I need to do. This is a summer photoand my deck has a roof , so I cover the settee and chair pads with clear plastic and put all of my pillows in clear plastic bags, and store them on another roofed deck until the spring. That Crown of Thorns plant was just a twig when a friend gave it to me to see if I could pep it up. Miracle grow did the trick.

I will get those throw pillows stored today.

If someone comes to my home, who I do not know, I ask them to sit on the deck,(whether sun, rain, or snow) instead of letting them in, to see what they want. Sometimes they are actually a neighbor I had never met before...but who know others in this locale so I often feel comfortable to let them in for a cup of coffee and a snack.

I am Not antisocial ,but all of my neighbors do the same thing!
I plant zinnias from seed, and get sets at a locale garden shop of impatients, snapdragons, and petunias and I put flowers on every deck but it has gotten very expensive however ,so I have cut back a lot on that.

that's a pretty porch. :)If I was your neighbour I wouldn't be offended to be asked to sit there. In fact in summer I more often have my visitors sitting outside in the back garden... I prefer the outside..

Thank you!
ME TOO hollydolly! I love being outside!

I like this topic !
Being in a farm community ( I raised livestock for many years) when we built an addition to my house, I bought a small bay window at a yard sale to put near a small table near my front door, because I noticed when any farmer visited us, they didn't want to track barn boot dirt into my living room or dining room ( I didnt care if they did because I tracked barn dirt in myself every day, and it didn't take long to vac it up) and they always wanted to look out side when they visited us.

My father was born in Chester, Wales. I wish I had asked him more questions about Wales before he died.
I bet it is Beautiful!

Sorry to disappoint you, but Chester is in Cheshire England, it's not in Wales.. altho' it's close to the Welsh border...

I live near London... but we have a couple of Welsh posters here on the forum...

Like everywhere parts of Wales are horrible, and some are beautiful...:)
