Not going to start a thread about it because Admin prefers we didn't unless we've tried other avenues first... so I've sent a PM earlier today to @Remy , because she's not been here for 6 weeks and the last time she posted she said she felt poorly... so I'm a little concerned about her
@Remy She hasn’t responded to me either and it’s been a few weeks. She’s a good person and hasn’t reacted to any threads about cat care. I worry for her.

I'm up because it's morning again. It's not real cold yet (48) but not going to get much warmer today.

It's time 🚙🥐. TL is supposed to be back today at 11 so I'll only work until 11 in order to avoid her...11 to her means between 1120-1130.

On the way home, I'm gonna have DD stop at the liquor store to get brandy.

Off to London hospital for blood test and consultation today.
Wishing you well and a good result. I shall be in the seaside town of Bournemouth later. The garage that services her car needed some replacement part so I'm off to the VW dealers to collect the component.
We shall be in Bournemouth for New Year's Eve, at The Pavilion, so whilst I am in the town I'm planning to collect our tickets.

Happy Halloween! Bye for now!

@Michael Z 12" in my hometown in the UP this morning!

I'm home. It was a busy morning, but I'm done for the day and resting my Self. Being a glutton for punishment, I'll go back tomorrow.

See if you can guess who texted Sir this morning and said she couldn't come in because her plane just got in, and she was too tired after being up all night. Did I call that one? I should have bet money on it!🤣 Yanno, she's gotta rest up in order to take her kids trick or treating as soon as it gets dark. Dark starts happening around 5-530. She was scheduled to work until 6. Mmhmm.

Stopped after work and got the brandy for cranberries. It's darned cold so I think I'll make them today and warm up The Hovel. The recipe only calls for 4-5 tablespoons of brandy🥃, but I always double the recipe. And...some for the cranberries, some for me, some for the cranberries, some for me;)

Spooky Hallowe'en, y'all🧙‍♀️🧹👻💀🐈‍⬛🎃

Although I was more south than your stated location, @Trila, it probably was pretty chilly there in Hot (Not) Springs... got out just in time, sounds like.

Lots of catching up today... laundry, cleaning, shopping...

Another day. Another pocket knife decision. Stay Hungary my friends.

This Fejesgörbe, translation: round head or curved head, are handmade one at a time in Hungary by Tibor Szanakovits and his son Örs, following their forefather’s traditional techniques.

These pocket knives are hard to come by. There are no dealer or internet sales from Szanakovits. One must visit the shop to purchase a knife unless lucky enough to wander upon the rare available one on the secondary market. Tibor states, “We personally sell our knives only in Szentendre. We believe that our costumers have to touch the knives to get a closer relationship with them before they can choose the best one. Choosing the right knife is a lifelong decision.”

Szentendre is a very nice old village, north of Budapest in the Danub's loops, very traditional and preserved, well worth a visit. It used to be a place where Serbs and Greeks found refuge when their countries were invaded by the Turkish Empire.

The blade steel is stainless, bolsters brass and the handle material is Hungarian Red Deer Stag. This pocket jewel is a favorite in my collection.

Poised here on my kitchen counter for a photo to be cropped.

Just playing with a picture and a plug 'n play photo app. Not me nor anyone I know ...

I don’t speak Hungarian (Magyar) but the music is fun and shop tour interesting in the video below … at least to me.

A friend that speaks Hungarian says Tibor explains in the video that he was born into a family of blade-smithes and makes only traditional knives, with traditional ornaments (sun, moon, his trademark rooster, etc) and scrimshaw (great plain's horsemen, scenes of an inn, farm, etc) and uses only "noble" materials for the handles.

It was 30 degrees here at7 AM and even though the sun was coming up, we had a few snowflakes-
I got my garbage out by the road into the disposal canister ,and checked my mailbox- many years ago some young kids drove around here knocking over some of our mailboxes on the night before Halloween, but with the price of gas so high I dont think they do that any more.

I went to the local dollar store for a few items and when I got back and checked my email, I learned that a good friend of mine who had heart surgery 2 months ago, fell at home ,and they rushed him to the Hospital.

He is 75, but aside from the heart surgery, he seems to be in very good health.

I hope he didn't fall on slippery wet leaves. I dragged a few into my house myself today.

I sort of ruined my broom by using it to clean snow and leaves off my car- but it is a little longer than my actual car broom, so I figured I better buy a new broom at the dollar store. When I put it on the counter, I told the cashier I needed it ,
to ride on it tonight! 🎃

Well, it's 7.30pm pitch dark.. very damp out having recently stopped raining, and for the last 2.5 hours the streets has been alive with trick-a-treaters, and their amazing costumes... ...

My neighbour put out a real fancy display to encourage the tricksters to knock... it is the best display in the road... and after they got their first couple of visitors... they went out... they went out ..... can you believe that?... I watched as dozens of children, and mums and dads knocked on their all decorated door.. . and didn't get a reply...who does that ?

Why???? Why do I keep reading recipes, doing a c/p and sending them to myself for my recipe file? Why? You know I'm not likely to ever make any of them! In the olden days BIT (before internet), I'd clip them from newspapers and magazines. Most of the time, I didn't make those, either.

Am I the only one? Is it a flaw in my character? Maybe just wishful thinking?

My mother and grandmother did it before you GG ;)

@Naturally mother didn't do it except for two recipes she found in the Parade section of the Sunday paper. One was for tomato soup cake (delicious!) and the other was for corn sausage pie. Yup. Both sound weird, but they were good. I haven't had either of them in dogs' years! I dunno about my grandmothers.

If I didn't still work, I'd try new recipes. (Who am I kidding?)

Now I'm hungry after reading the recipes and remembering about the tomato soup cake and the corn sausage pie. So. I'm gonna have a bowl of ice cream instead.
