What are you doing today 2023

@Mizmo I'm making brandied cranberries today. There will be more than enough cranberries left so...I see cranberry scones in our future.
Brandied cranberries?!!!! Please share how you make them! I have a feeling that I would really like those! And what do you do with them....eat as is, put them in recipes?

Why???? Why do I keep reading recipes, doing a c/p and sending them to myself for my recipe file? Why? You know I'm not likely to ever make any of them! In the olden days BIT (before internet), I'd clip them from newspapers and magazines. Most of the time, I didn't make those, either.

Am I the only one? Is it a flaw in my character? Maybe just wishful thinking?
You are not alone! I do those same things....but I'm trying to learn restraint! (....not really working, but still, I'm trying!)

Just dull and miserable here with light rain which is forecast to stop around 17:00. No forecast for severe weather.
Spent another fortune on shopping today. Some prices up and a few down. Some good deals on gin, port and sherry , so I'm getting the "wine cellar" stocked up.

Right - off to put the groceries away and prepare the Chilli con carne for dinner.

got a job again and this is day two........

I heard from neighbors who saw the problem one crying and throwing fit in her yard.... when she got the legal notice she has 4 days to do what she was suppose to get done by 10/25 or will be sued for breach of contract and pay far more then if she had it done herself and legal fees on top ....
it is sad so many young ( she is 35) that they can do whatever and get a do-over ........again and again no consequences for items it seems to destroy them when faced with it.
i think this entitled behavior really accelerated when we quit keeping score in kids games and everyone got a trophy just for participating.

@Trila Go to the "Recipes" subheading on the Food & Drinks thread. I bumped up the recipe yesterday. I always make them ahead because they keep forfreakingever. They're served at the table just like you would any other bowl of cranberries. The only problem here is keeping DSIL out of them. If left unsupervised, he'd sit down with the bowl and a spoon...

I couldn't agree more...

Oh. I forgot to tell y'all that I'm home. Did you already guess?

Looks like it's been a bizzy morning here so I have to go back and see what I've missed. I sincerely hope that @hawkdon didn't make biscuits and sausage gravy and forgot to invite me.

Golly geez Louise... The month of November begins with a downpour of rain. It cancelled our plans to go up to the big city and shop for new leggings for daughter and a few hooded fleeces for the colder days.

We finished the sewing of my triple flared pants set, thereby saving me near £25 again. They were size 18 Long and with the near 3 stones lost after healing my thyroid gland, they were hanging on me.

So, daughter and I got the sewing kit out and went to town. Tada! All three pairs are now down to size 14 and fit again like a glove.

We've hoovered the house from top to bottom. Did the dishes for the day and updated our Christmas list on Amazon.

Now stuck waiting on service provider to answer the waiting call as someone at their end forgot to transfer one of our subscription to new service. Bummer!

Showers taken, hair washed, we were ready to go but rain stopped us. Reorganising outing for later on. Oh and finally removed the magic eye lamp that even with new batteries doesn't work anymore.

UPDATE: Finally have missing app on. Someone had forgot to transfer that subscription to new stream service. All done! Phew we'd been worried at possibly having lost our watchlist on that lovely channel 🤣🤣🤣

What a relief. All's ticky boo. Appropriate after All Hallows Eve day...

PS: Friends in UK, question, have you turned and updated all your clockwork to losing an hour on Sunday... An hour will be fighting to regain until Christmas eve, yes? LOL

@Widow of Vietnam Vet I have that same settee and the same red cushion! We have such good taste:)

@Purwell Results of your medical visit yesterday? All is good?

Y'all in the UK...check between your toes to make sure you're not getting mildewed and/or moldy from all that rain.

@hawkdon Your friend is going to bring Thanksgiving dinner to you? Dandy! All you have to do is eat it, no cleanup!

@Supernatural Glad you have sewing skills and a machine. Anymore I only use mine for mending stuff, but it certainly does come in handy.

@Jeni I'm with you and @hollydolly thinking that the entitlement cr@p started with everybody getting trophies/prizes/ribbons just for being there.

When I left work this morning at 11, guess who wasn't there yet even though she's on the schedule at 11? I swear that she's another one who looks at the schedule as just a suggestion. You know, if it's not too inconvenient, c'mon in. If it is inconvenient, just show up when you please.

Can we say cold?🥶 OMG, it's cold and windy here. Says 43 and also says "feels like" temp is 38. Wind is from the north. Brrr. Counting my blessings, though, at least the sun is shining.

@HoneyNut, love your outfit. Orange is a very good color for you, a phrase few will ever hear from me.

Halloween was lovely with darling kids, but way too much candy remains despite us giving out generous amounts.

Housework is on my list today. Out of town friends will be coming Saturday and spending the night, so I need to change the sheets and spiff the room up a little. (DGD uses that room when she spends the night and I don't change the sheets between her overnights, but do when someone else will be using that bed.)

I had a nice Halloween, I walked over and watched the Hocus Pocus movie at one of the clubhouse auditoriums, walked home to get my purse, then walked to the grocery store to buy pitta and hummus to make a snack dish to take to our building's Halloween party. It was a nice party but very low turnout (maybe 20 people, tho a few more showed up right at the end). I had a super simple costume of cat ears, fuzzy paws (fingerless gloves with paw print markings), and a clip on tail. This has been the most Halloweeny year for me since my kid was little.

Oh my gosh, you're so cute!

Britain is preparing for the incoming Storm Ciaran 'weather bomb' as dozens of schools are set to close tomorrow and flood barriers are put up outside homes.

The low pressure system has sparked a red warning in the Channel Islands as locals brace for winds of up to 100mph with ferries and flights axed. Pupils in Jersey were told to stay at home amid fears of destruction rivalling the 1987 Great Storm.

Southampton City Council has advised all schools in the area to close, while three Fareham schools and another in Stubbington will also be closing among others across the south. Headteachers have blamed the incoming storm for the closures.

Environment Agency workers put up flood barriers in areas such as Brighton, Exeter and West Bay in Dorset - while business owners in flood-hit parts of Northern Ireland were putting sandbags in front of properties in an attempt to minimise damage.

The Met Office warned flying debris and flooding will bring a 'danger to life' while the storm could also cause 'structural damage' to buildings, with roofs potentially blown off, power lines and trees brought down, travel disruption and power cuts.

A yellow rain warning has been issued for southern and western England and Wales, from 6pm today until 11.59pm tomorrow, and north east England and eastern Scotland from 6am tomorrow until 6am Friday.

Meanwhile a yellow wind warning is in place for southern England and south Wales from 9pm today until 11.59pm tomorrow as well as amber wind warnings in the south west and south east from 3am until 11am tomorrow and 6am to 5pm tomorrow respectively.

I was thinking I might go out after all to pick up some essentials.. before the storm gets worse..

It's dark and 6.15pm now.. however there's a big chance of aquaplaning in the dark... so maybe not a good idea..

This is Wednesday, November 1st. I just turned the month over on my calendar. Noticed that daylight savings here in California ends this coming Sunday November 5th. A as of tomorrow November 2nd Thanksgiving is four weeks away. And, that there will be 5 Thursdays in the month.
