What are you doing today 2023

Was in a state of numb collapse yesterday. Best thing was napping with my cat sitting on me. Today I hope to get to some of the chores I didn't do yesterday. Laundry, taking down holiday decorations, dishes, UGH.
you shoulda been around my house today.. It's sunny.. 2.30pm.. I've got laundry washed , dried and put away.. Vaccing, and kitchen, stove, and , bathroom and toilet cleaned.. .....and dusted all this office down.. as well..

Been in the garden sweeping up the leaves...gently.. but it got them all up from the paths, which were annoying me because it was really thick after all the rain this week ...

Made a flask of tea so I don't have to keep boiling the kettle all day.. and now got Orange chocolate Pofiteroles, defrosting on the counter...

See.. Peps.... if you'd been here you would have it all finished now..:sneaky::LOL::coffee: *cheers* everyone...

Even this cloudy day is destined to be another fine day for me. Lunch invite with a friend, then checking out a volunteer program to help students (mentoring again for me).
First, the usual, laundry, tidying up, getting the place ready for ice cream and Bailey's when we come back from our mini adventure.
Love today, and it's Friday the 13th! I like this day.

Finally got some retail therapy done yesterday.
Didn't buy a lot ..
I bought a rack to hold our medical files upright.
They are too tall for the corner of my desk.
Time to rearrange my desk?

Went to the furniture store .
I was hoping for new small sofa.

Somehow my poor confused husband, thought I wanted a new bed for the guest room.
We are getting new queen size bed for that room.

We got home & I tore apart the old bed,,moved things around so the new one can be delivered.
Now I have the old but new looking mattress down here.
We are wondering what to do with it.

sounds like fun RN …..have a lovely day !
baileys and ice cream, sounds yummy…👍

I can't believe I have 2 loads of laundry in the dryer! Really surprised myself. Good for me!
It's not laundry I hate, I hate schlepping it down to basement praying I'll get the amount of machines I need. I never had a washer/dryer in my home or apt.

I'm home already. I guess they'll send me results on the patient portal.

@Mizmo I thawed and ate the last blueberry scone this morning. Thought you'd want to know...

It's cold here. Really, really cold and not supposed to get any warmer all day. Of course, when I go to work tomorrow, it's gonna be much warmer and sunny.

Update on big gaping hole in wall: It's still there. There has been a trip to Lowes for wood to rectify the problem but I'm sure a new problem will pop up at any moment.

I'm not sure the installer knows what he's doing. I KNOW the Spousal Equivalent doesn't know what he's doing. Good thing he's not doing it.

So far, it hasn't turned into my fault....but the day is still young.

I'm hiding in the bedroom with a book and the laptop. It's safer in here.

Oh, did I say it's raining? It's raining. I can hear pounding and ominous muttering in Spanish.

The air conditioning tech is supposed to show up any minute to do the routine maintenance. Please, God, let him not find anything that needs fixing. I can only take so much blame in one day...LOL.

Sorry, here's clearer picture. I was recommended to call for a form and told they'd do the work (housing association) but I was given the wrong form by the person online. I filled it, thinking they were standard forms and added letter of wanting bathtub changed to shower wall (the whole bathtub area changed to shower see pic attached).

It was the wrong form but I just found out after chasing the outcome after the standard waiting time of 12 weeks. Now, I've to call somewhere else, fill the correct form and wait another 12 weeks...
Thank you for taking the time to explain.

I've always detested showering in bathtubs. IMHO it's crazy unsafe at any age to step over the side of a tub, meaning at some point your full weight is on one foot that's on a wet slippery surface. No thanks. A moment of being off balance can have catastrophic consequences and the older we get, the poorer our balance becomes.

My house has 2-1/2 baths. We added space to have walk in showers placed in both full baths in addition to their tubs.

When booking hotels or AirBnB, we make sure there's a non-tub shower. When we shopped for our RV, tub showers were absolute, no-need-for-further-discussion, dealbreakers.

Aye, I hear you! The minimal groove in the bathtub for natural draining angle means that standing up in bath you've an uneven surface to stand on. I suffer from anaemia constantly so I'm like a candle in the wind sometimes and inner ear problems causes imbalance occasionally. Got good news today, there was a huge mix up and they're coming next week. Only downside today, my back's killing me due to heavy rain again.

I won't lie, the last 18 months have been hard, I quit smoking so have been not good with my diet. I also had slacked off on exercise because of the hip replacement.
Congratulations! Quitting smoking was one of the biggest challenges I ever faced. Did so when I was 30, but remember well what a bear it was to get that monkey off my back. Hate to admit it, but cigarette smoke often smells appealing even after all these years.
Oh, the cooking when you live alone. I am learning to freeze left overs if I don't want the same thing for multiple days. At least then, we can pull something out of the freezer when we don't want to cook. I have actually found I like that pretty well.
Same is true for cooking for two. Waxed paper, plastic wrap, ziplock bags, the freezer and I are very close friends.

Hey, kids...about freezing leftovers or portions from batch cooking, those FoodSaver things are heaven sent. Really. Spend the $$. They are definitely worth it because the food doesn't get freezer burn and because all you have to do is throw the package in a pot of boiling water to thaw it. The nuke box, works, too, of course, but then you have to puncture the package and it can get a tad messy if it's soup :D

DS/DSIL were here. They brought me one of those magnetic knife holder thingies and put it up next to the stove. I've wanted one forever but just never got around to getting one. Yippee.

I have rubber bath mats in both tubs that are about 4 ft long just to be safe. These days I tend to use the shower in another room, a walk in. I also have a mat in it but now I understand why so many have replaced tubs with walk in showers. I am not going to remove the tubs because when the son has to sell the house, I am sure it will go to a family with children. Who knows, they might decide to keep it for themselves.

@Sassycakes , call your primary physician's office and speak to the receptionist. My friend forgot his password, he called, and they asked a couple of questions to be sure it was him, then gave him a temporary password, sent it to his email, and it allowed him to reset name and passcode to his portal.
Try it.

That's why we added showers rather than ripping out the tubs. They've also occasionally come in handy for our grandchildren, though we shift them to showers at a young age to be water thrifty. Quick showers require far less water than baths.
