What are you doing today 2023

Hollydolly, I have been to Bournemouth, but off-season, so it wasn't so busy. Can't say I was terribly impressed. Portsmouth & Southsea, as you'll know had primarily shingle beaches, so I had to head east for a sandy beach - Bracklesham Bay, The Witterings etc.. They could be horrifically busy on summer weekends with people coming down from London and surrounding areas.
At least here, I have easy access to nice quiet beaches.

Back to reality - shopping today in Fraserburgh (which does have a great beach). I'll take the campervan instead of the car. More space, and it needs a good run every now and then.
When I was first married, in 1800.. :D.. and DD was about 3 years old and we took our first holiday as a family, it was to Bracklesham Bay and an onsite Caravan.. out of season,. It was all we could afford....and it was very quiet. I;m not a fan of shingle beaches, so for that reason I 'm not keen on brighton either . In fact Brighton being the next if not the first most popular beach in the UK.. I don't get the hype.. ..

Southend on sea is our nearest beach, and I used to go there a lot.. it took 40 minutes to get there.. but now they've messed with the road layouts, and it's over an hour to get there now.. and again due to our Vastly increased, friends from the East.. it has become a very crowded place to go.. and tedious to get there..

This year for my day trips.. I'm heading north and going up nearer to my Daughter, to Norfolk.. and Hunstanton and Wells- Next -The Sea .. etc..

That is just TOO many people! How can anyone relax on a beach like that?!
this is the problem with having too many people on a little Island. The whole of the UK is smaller than Oregon.. we have 70 million people...

This is why I prefer to go abroad for a Beach..., but here I'll visit the beach towns for a day trip and shopping.. but not to go on the beach !...and I never ever go during the school holidays.. it would take hours to sit in traffic trying to get out at the end of the day

I will spend the day preparing tomorrow's AccessARide for my Wednesdays with my grandson. I'll be venturing out this am to CVS for a drug run. I will read my kindle download of a book whose title I forgot but the author is Kate Atkinson. Watching Young & Restless which I love to do. They have a good plot going on.

On my early walk around 6:45,temp was 28, sidewalks had some frost on them, walked halfway down my street
This morning I'm going over to close friend's Marcia&Dave's house to dog sit with my 'buddy boy' Tag. Marcia is going to our church for this months adult program'Passages'. I told her last month I wanted to do this, she was most appreciative, probably be for 3 hrs. When I was at the house this past Sat,he was so happy to see me as usual wagging the tail. Last yr,we bonded when I sat with him for 4 hrs, this will be the highlight of my day

I've just come back from getting my yearly mammogram (strangely apropos for this day). ♥
Good for you! As an aside, three girlfriends and I are getting together for lunch next month, trying to pick a date.
The one we settled on happens to be when I get my mammo in the morning, and another gal gets hers that afternoon.
So we are "squeezing in" lunch between appts and different towns. Like minds, weird!

One of the favourite desserts back then was lemon squares. Or cream puffs.
Jules - Bless your terrific (and practical) memory for 70s foods! I'd actually put lemon squares on an early written and misplaced menu list, then promptly forgot about them. They're light, a snap to make, can be done the day ahead, and my lemon tree happens to be fully fruiting right now. Ticks all the boxes, as they say.

Cream puffs - love 'em, but can't add anything fiddly or needing last minute attention (like filling). Rain is in the long range forecast. If it comes to fruition, I'd by worrying over droopy puffs.

I'd originally promised DH that I'd cater this event, but came to realize how difficult it would to find a local caterer specializing in 70s foods. Heck, I'd be lucky to find a caterer BORN in the 70s, never mind one who remembers the foods. So, as usual, I'm the party caterer.

My lists are all on the computer now, so no worries about misplacing them.

p.s. I'm designating you as my menu consultant for future parties!!! 💓

Well, lesson learned. Restarted adding apple cider vinegar to my drink. Not much (or so I thought) but it obviously was.

I'll be ok, just fast walking to the bathroom.

Containing that extra special something from back in the 70s??? Just kidding.

I think she means : chocolate pudding. It made the brownies moister, plus added even more sugar.....;)(y)

What? She didn't mean chocolate pudding? o_O:rolleyes:☺️😊

T'would be nice if they'd at least offer to lend it, whenever we'd like..... one of mine had a vehicle beyond any name or description I'd ever even seen elsewhere!
Never even asked beforehand, if I'd wanted to help him to purchase it!o_O:eek:☺️😄

re starsong's post 2116: how about fresh (or can) fruit salad with marshmallows (there was always one of these at summer bbq/picnics in the "old days"!!)

Well, you won't be lacking for conversation. :) lol And good for you guys too. :)

My therapist just told me that, after hearing about my morning (and that my last mammogram was close to Valentine's), she's now thinking of the mammogram machine as my valentine. LOL - We were joking about, next year, my bringing a construction paper heart to tape to the machine. 😂💕
