What are you doing today 2023

My typical weekday day today, off to my job/work in minutes, lightly snowing, meetings today for morning
staff stuff, then back home, I'm just slightly spent, been busy a bit with family stuff, then grocery shopping
and all that, taking some outsized clothes in for donation at our thrift shop, and ...

I didn't get as much done yesterday since I had 3 different visitors. I don't mind so much but it does get me behind (then I remind myself that it is not a job and I do not have to answer to anyone. So I can take as long as I need or even wait till tomorrow).
How nice to have visitors, Kat! A day that includes time with friends or loved ones beats a day of chores by a country mile. ❤️

remember once getting an MRI, they asked me did I have any metal including my underwear, I said no... so they said that's fine you can get scanned with your clothes on.. . They'd just started moving the scanning bed with me on it when there was an almighty banging, and nurses scrambling to stop the machine.. The culprit was a Hair band in my pocket which had a tiny metal tag on it.. *sheesh!😦

Something similar happened to my wife's sister. She thought that the white clips of her bra were plastic, not so. She said the noise and panic were similar to that which you described. I
It's surprising that your MRI centers permit you to make that call.

I recently had an MRI at a testing facility. As has always been my experience with a few hospital and outpatient MRIs, I was ushered into a dressing room, told the only clothing of my own I could wear was underpants, and provided a hospital gown and hospital socks.

Everything else had to come off, regardless whether I believed there was metal in it.

What kind of work do you do, Lady Em? You've probably mentioned it numerous times, but my brain doesn't always hold information as well as I'd like...

I continue my work as a nursing assistant/caregiver, but not any more in facilities,
mostly I work within private home settings, and for an established Senior Care
agency in my location, they provide care of all levels for those who need and request
assistance.

Hey my brain does not hold infos as well, as I'd like either ;)

I feel bad about canceling last night's trivia game. My cohost (who is also my language partner) is so reliable and punctual. I've told him how much I appreciate that, and how much I can't stand irresponsible slackers. Now I feel like I'm the slacker.

Oh well, if I can't keep up, I can't keep up. Everything changes. Maybe I should change the game to just once a week.

I woke up around 5:30, which is early for me. I had my customary 4 cups of coffee. Coffee intake notwithstanding, I think I'll go back to bed for a few hours.

No sense pushing myself too hard. Some things do need to get done though.

Random musing: Why are so many activities, clubs, committee meetings, etc., canceled in the summer? Summer is when I feel like doing things. 🤷‍♀️

Oh yes as long as we're not wearing any metal.. we can get scanned with our own clothes on as I did today..even with my boots on..lol.. seriously..

I wore sports underwear ( not clasps).. and made sure I had no jewellery or watch on.. .. I 've had probably 8 or 9 MRI's in my life and several Cat Scans so I know the drill.

If I was having something lower down my body done, then they would probably want me to change into a gown.. not always .. but today it was my head.. very long MRI today.. good thing I don't suffer from Claustrophobia

On several occasions when I've been in the Radiology department, I've heard grown men screaming and begging to be let out of the machine.. never yet heard a woman tho'..

My back is bloomin' Killin' me today.. I had to ask the radiologist to help me stand up from the scanning bed.. 😟

Before I got to the hospital I did some shopping.. goodness me.. one of our biggest discount hardware type store.. had almost nothing on their shelves.. and then I thought I'd have my hair trimmed at the cheap salon.. but I stood at the reception desk in full view of the stylists for almost 10 minutes and no-one came over, so I left. Not going to pay someone good money and a tip to be ignored.. so that was waste of car parking charges... didn't help that it rained all day.. and windy...

Then after I left the hospital, couldn't even get a coffee in the Hospital Cafeteria.. it was packed solid, not one table to spare mostly people waiting for other people to have their procedures done.. .. so I got a drink and a sandwich from M&S.. and ate it in my car.. then drove over to the Supermarket and bought Chocolate of every description..and Haagen- Dazs Strawberry and cream Ice cream, and Red velvet cake Ice cream.. and red velvet cake Souffles... :p:LOL::LOL:

Also got a several new pairs of leggings and exercise shorts... from H&M...

Now I need a hot pad on my back...

Good morning. Toay's a day off, and if I had bedding plants we know where I'd be :) 🌷🌺🌼🌻

Gonna do some laundry today and just sit around, I guess.

@hollydolly Have you got your computer sorted yet or found someone who'll come to your house to do it?
No..and No.. is the easiest answer to this great problem I have currently..

Firstly.. for anyone who isn't aware, it's a software issue that I have... I can't fix it myself, tho; for the last few days I've tried.. but the problem is that my estranged O/H is the one who set this computer up for me in the first place, and he has some relevant passwords which are needed to get into the bowels of the Mac...Trying to get info from him is proving difficult to say the least but he did reply with suggestions of what I might do.. however.. I finally found the password I needed ..on my own.. but I found it just before I was leaving for the hospital this morning...so unable to do anything with it yet..

All that said. I have been in contact with someone who repairs Macs.. and they are expensive.. ( ok I am willing to pay ).. but they want to take the Computer away to do the work... I understand if it's a hardware Issue, but software?.. I'm not keen on the idea... But we'll have to see now if I can fix the issues first, now I have this password...

Bet you wish you'd never asked Madame..Gigi..

During yesterday's weekly evening zoom with a small group of friends from high school, I made a little over a hundred mini calzones - some for the party, some for future meals/snacks.

Calzones and pizzas fall under my category of "as long as you're in the mode you might as well make extra," because they're a bit of a fuss: make the dough, let it rise for a couple of days, prep filling or toppings, heat the oven, etc. ;)

While I was elbow deep in calzones one of my zoom buddies was making scones and another was putting her hair in rollers. We're as comfortable with each other as siblings but without the rivalry baggage.

Today I'll focus on desserts: Hope to get all done: brownies, carrot cake, lemon bars and amaretto mousse. A lot of baking means a lot of dishes, too. Fortunately, DH is great about keeping the sink clear when I'm marathon baking.

My other task on today's agenda: set up the music on an old iPod. Will just let it run on shuffle through a couple of wireless speakers.

Working up the energy for today’s walk. It was really miserable yesterday. Today the sun is shining; it makes a huge difference in my mood.

The first sighting of a robin is a sign of spring. This winter started early, had record setting cold and lasted into early January. There’s been a robin, maybe two, hanging around here all winter. I’ve never, ever seen this before. The poor little fellow was huddled up in one spot for a couple of hours. I would have fed him something, if I had anything safe and healthy for him in the house.

See how different that is between here and there ?.. we have Robins all year round... :)

@StarSong I'll take two or three helpings of amaretto mousse, please.
Let me tell you, it's so freaking sublime that I nearly licked the metal off the bowl when I finished making it!

Heaven help me when I cut up the brownies and remove them from the pans. Those errant crumbs won't stand a chance!
