What are you doing today 2023

We had changed plans and did errands throughout the week because of "the big snowstorm" coming on Saturday. It's Saturday and there's just a light dusting... with nothing at all on the walkway & sidewalk... dodged another one! We'll see if we're lucky a third time on Monday when a few more inches could fall. I'm so over this! ☃️❄️

Anyhow, good morning and happy weekend, everyone! 🌹

Had to go out to pick up a prescription. Yesterday's belated Dr. visit gave me an A1C of 9.3!!!! It should be around 5.

I'd talked myself into believing my Type2 diabetes had magically disappeared for quite some time and had not taken medication, ate all the carby stuff and just blew it off.

I feel fine, but my Dr. was aggravated. Soooo, the drugstore had to order my Rx and today I picked it up.
Ooh, please take care of that @RadishRose !

9.3? No, no, no my friend, take those meds. I was fooling around not taking my cholesterol stuff, as I always had low numbers, but seems now hooked on needing them. We must behave, let's not kid ourselves, we need this crap. (((RR)))

Well….the sNOw did find it’s way here…..started about 3am…..about 6 inches so far.
Did some shovelling on the deck and the pathways for the guys to do their jobs.
Great news……supposed to sNOw till 6 tomorrow morning…..so shovelling will be on the addenda.

Today…..1st day of 3 day poop test…..just what you wanted to know.😉.

Will I hear from my foster daughter….maybe, offer to help with sNOw….NOPE.
Last contact was, I was called upon for oldest boys birthday, February 16, did the gift thing, conversation was all about her as usual, all she asked me was if I had a moving date.

Before this it had been 3 weeks, since I heard from them, and only a brief message…..and before that, since dropping off Christmas gifts December 28…..only a few words messaged a couple of times…..her messages consist of “ cold out hey…..lots of snow hey…..don’t shovel too much…..and all that type of CRAP.

No offers of help with absolutely nothing…..why don’t ask…..have…..she doesn’t answer.
Oops……sorry……I forgot…..says she doesn’t have good communication skills……REALLY.😏😕.

So…..I will not be called upon till Easter, now…..treat time for the kids.

I spend far too much time getting frustrated over this…..BUT…..I can wear off the frustration shovelling sNOw today.

Hard truth……I am only a gift giver for the kids…..and someone that sends stuff from my house to theirs.

Venting over for now…..going to continue with my day.

Well Finally Finally.., I got out today... only 10 miles west to the next major town for supermarket shopping.. but at least I got out at last.

It was sunny when I went out, but now at 3.30pm it's overcast. Very warm tho'...

Had a little walk around the ''variety store'' which is what B&M are called who sell a variety of discounted stuff from cheap furniture to baked beans .. , bought a couple of Notebooks, and a Garland for the front door..
I rarely ever go grocery shopping on a Saturday, so I was taken aback for a second when I walked into Tesco, and it was PACKED... the reduced clothing racks had so many people around it you could have mistaken it for Black Friday..

..anyway I got everything I went for, except Basil.. and grapes

Got a cuppa tea now and a slice of Raspberry Coconut cake.. :D

Now lovely people, I want your help.

I want to make an anonymous donation to this youth club, so how do I go about transfering money into their club without them knowing it's from me? 😊
Call the organization and ask. Or, look on their website; they might have info on how to make anonymous donations. Or, ask at your bank.

If you don't want to do any of that, purchasing a cashier's cheque from your bank might do the trick. Your name will not appear on the cashier's cheque.

What will I do today? (My father explained to me about will and shall, but I can't remember the difference.)

Meeting my local language partner at a nearby cafe (walking distance). I think I'll take my car anyway, and do a couple of errands. I said the same last week, but I ended up walking.

I'll see how much exercise I can get done before I go out. I'll be too exhausted when I get home. Yes, talking in a cafe for an hour wears me out!

Talk to my long-distance language partner after supper. Maybe a bit more exercise. Then read in bed.

Today I met up with a photography pal who lives in my old home town and has been a member of the photography forum I run for some time. He caught the train here and we met up for a coffee, then we drove into Lancaster to Williamson park for some pix and lunch. Good to see him (we've only met once before) and had a good natter :)

First and foremost, dear, dear, @RadishRose, please take care of yourself. We love you and want you to remain healthy.

It's still raining today. Small drops, but plenty of them and they're falling steady. The weather apps say it hasn't rained for a few hours but my (apparently lying) eyes state otherwise. Between my observation and the forecasts for rain this afternoon, I'm surmising it'll rain all day. Might be clear Sun & Mon, but rain returns Tues and Weds.

I need to get a Walmart pickup order sometime this weekend and might stop at the local Asian market while out, but no other errands are on the agenda.

There's some crushed pineapple in the fridge needing to find a home - thinking of making some carrot cake type muffins in a little while with it. Accidentally opened two cans (eek) of crushed instead of chunk pineapple the other day so I'm now in a use it up or throw them out predicament. It would bother me for days if I wasted the pineapple. Plus muffins freeze well and carrot cake muffins are delish.

I'm home and not exhausted for a change. All that prep I did yesterday paid off so I'm gonna do it every day that I can. Bonus was that because I prepped, I had time to find a computer and knock out more of the training videos. Woohoo and stuff. It could be, might be, that I'm done, but I couldn't figure it out because there's nothing that says "Completed." If our Does Everything person works tomorrow, I'll ask her to take a look-see. Even if not done yet, there can't be much more to do.

I've given some thought to how to work smarter, and prepping everything for the next day seems to be the best idea so far. It might even mean that once my new routine is established, the 25-hour week that I've wanted from the very beginning can happen. Well, except for being expected to train whoever they assign to the bakery next...

DD and DGD took a load of stuff over to DGD's new place last night and took another load after dropping me at home today. DGD has decided that she just can't wait two more weeks to move in, and since the roomie has already moved in, she wants to be there, too. I completely understand...she wants to color herself moved and unpacked and living there. And adulting. DGD adulting should be interesting :)

DSIL is off tomorrow so they are taking her furniture then. While DSIL is there, he's installing their Ring doorbells/cameras and assembling the new vacuum.

When DD gets back later, we're gonna do our Walmarting because it's supposed to be cold and rain pitchforks and hammer handles all day tomorrow. We don't wanna go out in it...not to mention that DD will be deep into moving furniture with DSIL and DGD.

Me? Why, I'm too old to help move;) so I'll just stay home and outta the way.

It's croissant time again. 🥱

Aww, I'm sure your grandkids see you as more than just a gift-giver, but it is totally normal they do see grandparents as gift-givers.

I don't understand the expectation of help with shoveling, if your daughter is busy with children she is probably wishing someone would offer to come help her. Even when my daughter was most sensitive to my need for snow shoveling help, she didn't try to come herself, instead she hired from the guys she knew, a young man whose pickup had a snow plow attachment, and he'd come and take a quick pass up and down the driveway.

Do you have a snowblower? Or a neighbor you could hire? Shoveling is awful hard work at our age.

I broke my right arm 11 days ago. Learning how to cope and ask for help. Scrambled eggs this morning with very little shell in them. My new salad is dressing in the bottom of the bowl, then dipping lettuce in with fingers. So thankful for grocery delivery. Running errands in my car with neighbor who has license but no car. Typing is very slow. Necessity is the mother of invention.:)

Sorry about your arm! I broke my right wrist a few years ago...what a pain, so I know how you feel. Be careful and and I hope you heal quickly.

Sorry to hear…..take it easy…..I’m sure it’s very painful.🌻.

*ouch* how did you break it ?

Update: I made 96 mini pineapple carrot muffins using a mashup of what I found on line, what I know from recent years of healthier baking and my own carrot cake recipe (spectacular but heavy on the oil, eggs and sugar - as were most 80s carrot cake recipes).

They came out pretty good if I do say so myself - used half white flour, half whole wheat, vegan egg replacer (Ener-G), only a cup of sugar so it works out to 1/2 tsp per muffin) and no oil. Plus other baking ingredients.

Most importantly, I used up the crushed pineapple. I also skipped the walnuts because we'll want to share some with toddler grandson will want some when he's here. At 14 months he's getting picky about mixed textures.
