What are you doing today 2023

Toddler grandson will here again today so nothing on the schedule of note besides hanging out and playing with him - and trying to keep him from mischief and injury.

Some of you probably remember my happy posts when he was born. Well I'm here to tell you, time really does fly; he's 17 months already!

Planted the last of my garden this morning, never say done though, there will always be some plant or other than catches the eye.

Back to the silly show Farmer Wants A Wife this afternoon. I think this edition of the show is a new one. But beats me how these ladies get all prissied up, full makeup including false eyelashes, I suspect one of a little false enhancement in the boob department, Surprise the farmer.

mowing with my old reel push mower for the heck of it.oiled and sharpened blade yesterday good exercise and a nice scissor cut.but will take all morning and lots of breaks.trying to get done before it gets hot.

Yesterday, I hung my new Boston fern over the front step, transplanted 2 basil plants ito a large pot and 2 rosemary plants into a matching large pot. I also hung a purple and yellow flowering pant in another area.
Hubby bought a couple of rosemary plants a few days ago and plans to plant them tomorrow. For some reason, our previous one bit the dust late last summer.

We need a Thai basil replacement - ours has become quite leggy. Ditto my beautiful Italian basil plant. Maybe some more mint. A flat leaf parsley plant would be good, too...

the very last thing they'll need if they become a farmers' wife will be false eyelashes....they need to make the most of it before they end up just wearing mud as an accessory the majority of the time..:D

I love Thai basil. I almost bought one yesterday but my space is so limited.

Do you pinch out the new growth on your Italian basil Star? That makes them get bushy. I love basil; I'll even put some on a ham sandwich.

The posts above make me miss all my gardening activity at my old house.

I have to be very careful about plants and their growing history ... a small patio allows only so much. Oh well.
Love growing herbs!
Yes, I miss my gardening of years ago. Like you, Bonee I only have a small "patio", but I do have a small back deck where I've put other pots of shade loving flowers and ferns. I'm thinking of doing it again this year, but think I'll limit that to one large Boston fern and a pot of Impatiens.

Hot again today and sort of sunny.

Deadheaded some flowers, pulled some weeds and moved some portulaca. That's the gardening for today.

When DD gets home from her Thursday morning job, we're gonna do our Walmarting. I used to like to go just to browse. Now I put it off as long as possible.

I don't know how to do that. I do pinch off flowers before they go to seed, but mostly I just water them and pull off leaves as I needed in the kitchen and replace the plants every year or so.

Have you been able to keep basil plants healthy for more than a couple of years?

No, the frost would kill them. I never thought of bringing them indoors, but the rosemary is like a shrub and may do well inside.

Here.. it shows you where to pinch (cut off). Hope it helps.

I never grew Thai basil before, but pinching is the same principle. Prevents "legginess".

I'm headed out to Tractor Supply for a tire tube for the rototiller, then to Mavis Tire to get it put in. This tiller is less than a year old, and I've had to replace both tubes already. I started the area for planting raspberries when the tire went flat, but I'll get that done today. My dear friend and neighbor, Jason, is coming over this afternoon. We are going to lay down a tarp and pull out everything in the big shed and go through it. When I moved back out here last Summer I shoved bags and boxes, dozens of them, in the shed. When I open the door, all you can see is a mountain of packed stuff piled on top of each other. Way in the far back left corner is a ton of beekeeping supplies. Jason just got his bees a few days ago, and I no longer keep bees, so I am gifting him everything. Several years ago a bear came through and destroyed my hives, and that ended it for me. This feels like I'm passing it down to the next generation, even though we aren't related. So, the rest of the day will be garden-related. Get the raspberries in the ground, and I have 2 peach trees and a dwarf cherry to be planted. It's too early to plant the vegetable garden, have to wait about 2 more weeks here. My nephew broke his leg a few days ago and is having surgery this afternoon, so I'll be praying for him (and my sister/his mother).
I am not dead. Just released from West Park rehab facility this morning. Home again. It's a very long story for sure. Two and a half months in 3 hospitals. I am able to walk without any aids now, but slowly. B has been a champion all through this journey. I am glad to be home. I will still be going to a local physio therapy clinic for the next 2 months, to work on building up my muscle strength after 8 weeks of lying in a bed unable to walk. Along the way I got a cardiac pacemaker, so my b.p. and heart rate is normal, as is my O2 concentration level. I will write more in a personal message to you tomorrow. It is so nice to be home again. I hope you are well and busy with your planting. JimB.

So happy to hear all your good news…..you were missed…..hope everything continues to be positive for you. 🌻.

I went to hang some clothes in the spare bedroom closet and low and behold there was a puddle growing on the floor. At first I thought it was the water heater which is in the laundry room. No sign of a problem.

Went out to turn off the water at the street and the meter was under water.
Finally found the tool I need to turn it off but had a hard time to say the least.
Looks like this may be a bad pipe. I called and left a message for my plumber.

I will probably be posting on the what have you bought thread soon. LOL

Nothing planned for today... I'm just having welsh rarebit on seeded toast for breakfast..

Tomorrow morning I'll be leaving early to drive up country to meet up with my daughter, and some friends.. and we're going on a mini river cruise for 1/2 a day.. ..looking forward to that.. :D
