I did the dishes! I may even dust! Somebody Stop me! o_O
You would have been handy to have around this morning. Our vintage MG had a spruce up and polish, we then joined about a hundred and fifty other MG car owners for the 2023: "Run Through The New Forest." By the way, The New Forest is thousands of years old, for an explanation just look up William the Conquerer.
Always ready to dress the part, we got photographed as much as our car.

It's almost 7pm now..it's been the hottest day of the year so far. I took a ride out to a little artisan Food/drink and music fest in a town about 20 miles away....

then I took a little wander around town..which was very quiet given that it's still a holiday here and the beaches were crowded... keeping most people from being inland.. I know many of you like to see pictures from here... :D

@hollydolly It's been nearly 40 years since I was in Jolly Olde England in and near London and don't remember a single day when the temp was more than 70F. That was for more than a week in July. In Bournemouth it struck me as odd that there were so many people at the beach lying in the sun when it was so cold.

Was that an odd year of cool temps or is your heat now a result of climate change? I know you haven't forgotten how hot it was in the UK last summer.

well believe me it gets a lot hotter than a mere 70 degrees in summer.. It wasn't just last summer when the temps were extraordinaly high.. 90 deg plus , but it's been that way for several years now here in the south.. anywhere else it wouldn't be a problem, but here the vast majority of people don't have AC in their homes...

I am glad I got some things done yesterday. Made a lasagna, brownies, baked a pound of bacon and made pancakes for the fridge. Went to Walmart for sodas, dog food, and a few other things. Did some laundry.

About midnight I was in the kitchen clearing up the mess. I had purchased a container of whipped topping that I decided just to freeze. Took it to place in the laundry room spare fridge. I did not turn on the light. I opened the freezer door to throw it in. Well, I had a container in there with frozen milk for emergencies. That thing fell out and landed on my toes. I do believe it has broken my second toe. It hurt like #Y&*. It is very painful still this morning and looks like a sausage. Strange thing it has not turned purple, like a bruise.

I have broken a pinkie toe in the past. I had swelling and bruising all the way up the front of my foot. This one hurts so much more than the last time. I guess because it it used so much more for walking and balance. I know I won't be get anything done for a couple of days. At least I won't have to worry about cooking. LOL

oooooh owwwwwcccchhhh !!!

We decided to take Mac with us this morning while we watered flowers at the cemetery.
Its all fenced,, as he ran round it, found a hole to escape through.

The cemetery is in the country,, weeds, tall grass, trees, brush,, horses.
Near by house has no trespassing signs.

We called him,, clapped my hands .,walked all over near the cemetery

Ready to figure he had become coyote dinner,, when there he was !

He would not.. come to us, did get back inside the cemetery fence.
Finally he settled by a headstone to cool off,, I caught him.

We probably have so many birds because we and our neighbors have many bird feeders, we have a pond that is a reliable waters source for the birds, many flowers are always in bloom for the hummingbirds, trees for building nests, and so on. Minimum is one acre of land per house in outer suburbia. It feels like living in the boondocks yet it's only a short driving distance to larger cities with shops and malls. With more development, skunks, raccoons, possums, and horses are gone (when we moved here, some people still went shopping by horse) but we still have our birds and regrettably also coyotes, snakes, gophers, rabbits, and so on. Many streets have more dogs than people living there. Well, we love it and have been spending most of our lives here. BTW, I love mockingbirds because they have such a variety of beautiful songs. Often they get carried away and start jumping up into the air full of happiness, as I caught one below on a picture. Well, I also observed a mockingbird picking the back of a cat, and the cat flipped over without catching the bird. The agile mockingbirds can harass slower raptors in flight with impunity. And I actually saw a raptor, like the one below, flying off with a three-foot long snake. Luckily we still have some open land in our area that harbors wildlife. Walking in nature and observing its wonders fills my heart with joy, especially when accompanied by my loyal Boxer pack.

The New Forest, where we live, is home to Britain's only venomous snake, the adder, (Vipera berus.) Adders feed largely on small rodents and lizards, but at The New Forest Reptile Centre, they warn about allowing pets to roam, especially cats. Adders hibernate from around October to February, depending on local conditions, thankfully the only one that I have seen was at The Reptile Centre.

When I lived in Hampshire, a work colleague was one of a team who would safely remove adders which had moved into peoples' gardens.
I never saw one in the wild, but I did see quite a few grass snakes, which could grow up to 5 feet long.

Adders are also native to Scotland, though I've never seen one here either.

Loved the photo of the you and the car. How about smiling the next time :) ?

Ew. Snakes. Ew..

I'm up. Afraid to go to work after Saturday's sh!t show that I didn't mention because it was so complicated and stupid. Nothing I could have done about it. It was a technical problem that could only be solved by someone from the company that provided the equipment. They were informed about it sometime during the Friday night shift and gave a trouble ticket # because it wasn't anything we could fix on our end, but nobody ever showed up while I was there or before Newest Lady left at 2pm. Wut wo.

Sir was off on Saturday, which we didn't know. Newest Lady called him at 6:30. He didn't say a word about being off, just that he'd "take care" of it and would be in "later." Found out around 10 that he had a day off.

Store manager wasn't concerned enough to do anything about it so there we were with shopping carts full of product that we couldn't put out on the shelves until the problem was solved.

And today is Inventory Day. Sir would have come in at midnight and will still be there when I get there at 6.

Is it okay to call and say I'm too sick to work?

Today I will be going back to the park. I was there for two hours yesterday, not sure I will be there that long today. My friend that I walk our hall with here will not go to the park to walk. So if she wants to walk it has to be inside. I am torn....I would rather walk outside now but I know she needs the walk too. She said she is not a park kind of girl. Her husband said she doesn't do outside or warm weather. For me though getting outdoors is essential. Before I moved here, I was outside every day regardless of the weather. I had to adjust and the parks have helped even though it is not the same as living in the forest.

@katlupe, knowing NY weather, better be outside while you can... surely there will be rainy days when you can't walk outside.

Slowly doing prep for my visit to Seattle. As I know they have *fantastic* yarn shops there, I want to shop for a project, maybe a knitted sleeveless vest (same word in UK? or does that mean an undershirt... verbal landmines lurk everywhere, lol) So there is no room for doubt, like this:

Anyway, all you knitters know how it is... you shop in a distant location, you see a pattern you like, and the question comes up... "Do I have the correct size of needles already?" ( expensive enough without purchasing duplicates) So I took pics of all the needles I currently have, so I'm prepared.

If this is OCD, then so be it...

Off to get my hair trimmed at the salon this AM, then lunch with Ed. Y'all have a great day!
