This mobile museum, is so interesting. πŸ€“
Love the bus!πŸ˜ƒ
I've been told that in the USA most museums restore their items before public viewing so everything looks in perfect condition.. dunno if that's true... but here in the UK, our museums like us to see everything in the exact condition they were in when they were last used.. so if everything looks a bit rough and ready, that's the reason. Also our museums are free entry so there's no extra money even if they wanted to restore them which they really don't.. :D

this is a knife Grinders kit...which would be in the street for people to bring their knives and implements to be sharpened..

I'm looking online now for a new Hand held rechargeable Fan. I carry one in my bag at all times, and today was definitely a day when it was needed..

The sweat was pouring off my face, however as I stepped into the cafe, I saw a young couple with a little baby maybe 6 months old, and the mum was trying desperately with a paper fan to cool the baby down. I could see her arms were tiring, but she kept on trying to cool the little one.. so I asked if she'd like my rechargeable Fan.. she was delighted to have it..

I was leaving to get in the car anyway to go to the pub to get dinner.. so not a problem to leave them with it, but I need to get online and buy a new one..

Well after yesterdays 90 deg temps and blazing sun all week , we were promised a cloudy day today.. with a little lower temps..at 87..... but nope... it's Blazing sun again.... πŸ’₯ 🌞πŸ’₯🌞...

It's horrendous trying to sleep in these temps...with no AC.. they've forecast a break in temps by Tuesday..I hope so...

No plans for today after yesterdays jaunt, and a lot of driving and walking around in the heat..

I'll get the rest of my photos uploaded onto the photo forum today

I'm home. I'm worn out.

@hollydolly When we still lived in the frozen north, from time to time there'd be a sweltering summer day. For those (rare) occasions, we had a portable AC on casters so it could be rolled around from one room to another. It had a vent hose so it could be vented out a window. Think it was called a "Penguin." If only used in your bedroom at night with the door closed, of course, surely it wouldn't drive your electric bill up a whole lot.

I realize it's a little late in the season but maybe such a thing could be found there? Ask Mr. Google!

Ours was pricey...around $500 about 20 years ago...and worth every penny.

Good morning SFers!

@hollydolly, reading about your kindness toward that mom and young baby warmed my heart. It's something she will long remember. When she hears friends moan about strangers' abysmal behavior toward babies in public she'll counter with her story of a lovely woman's unexpected compassion and generosity. ❀️

Am about to zip to the Asian grocery store to take advantage of their sale on yellow onions: 33Β’/lb. They're more than double price elsewhere and I depleted my stash of frozen, chopped onions earlier this week. Will buy 10 lbs or so to replenish that stash plus have some fresh onions on hand. Will undoubtedly find some other things to fill my cart a bit while I'm there.

After that, I'll take yesterday's laundry off the drying rack in my garage, fold and put away, and take out the load that's in the washer now and put it on the rack. Sure does cut down the natural gas bill to use that rack instead of the dryer!

Off to the store.... catch ya'll later!

After a long lively 7 hour Saturday with much outdoor street freestyle dancing, art walking miles, food, and crowd mingling to 3 bands yesterday at the huge Mountain View Art & Wine Festival, too much fun for an old guy, arose this morning somewhat groggy.

But still managed to get up put on a brand new pair of Levi 511's (Throttle) and attend a 9am mass. At 10am the NFL season began and now at half, the 49ers are just killing the Steelers on both sides of the ball, 20 to 7, with Brock Purdy making a huge statement out of his rehab. Just mic'd rice/corn/peas for lunch. After the game will drive off back to the Festival and catch the last rock/pop cover band at 3:45pm.

yes Gigi we can have that here.. but I'd have to have the window open for the hose and surely the whole point of an AC as I have in Spain is to have the windows closed while it's on..

I’ve been using dryer racks for years…..only use the dryer for towels and underwear.
Did you get yours at Walmart, StarSong.
I think we’ve had this conversation before, right……these racks are the best.
On nice days, I put the rack on my balcony…..things dry almost instantly.

On my early morning walk at 6am,was cloudy temp 63 wearing my yellow reflector vestsince it was still a bit dark outside. I walk couple blocks to buy the local paper. When I came back, watered plants/ flowers in our community garden
The highlight of my day will be this afternoon around 5pm when I walk over to my friends,Marcia&Dave's house to dog sit with my 'buddy boy' Tage{pharoh hound} Marcia&Dave are going to Lewiston,NY{ north of Buffalo} to have dinner with friends,I'll be with him for couple of hrs.He gets so excited whenever I walk in and release him for his crate, starts running around, jumps on the sofa waiting for me to give him some TLC as his tail thumps wildly He's such a sweet, loving dog
@moviequeen1 , I've been interested each time you mentioned Tage, Marcia & Dave's dog. I finally looked up Pharaoh Hound as I don't recall ever seeing one. What a beautiful animal!

Our weatherman lied too! It was supposed to be low 80's yesterday and today but it mid to upper 80's.
I want to give him a pass but I need some cool weather.

Back from Mexico. It was a wonderful trip and I'm broke and exhausted. That's how I KNOW it was a wonderful trip. I feel like I've been run over by a Mexican garbage truck (a very likely thing to happen if you're not careful....)

I used my cane religiously and didn't fall down once. That was a great feat considering that I can fall down in my living room and I didn't fall on the cobblestone streets or the atrocious sidewalks.

The food! The margaritas! The sights and culture! The things to buy!

I especially enjoyed the Frida Kahlo museum and the Diego Rivera murals. The mariachi bands were fabulous.

What a frenetic weekend, The Goodwood Revival was a sell out. Here's a few hats just for Holly.

Goodwood is all about classic car racing. Spectators cannot get this sort of photograph, I copied it from The Revival's website.
ww2 8.jpg
This year's Revival clashed with: "Last Night At The Proms," but along with a few hundred other festival goers we managed to see the last 20 minutes or so, where all the jingoistic songs are sung.

This year The Belmont Pullman were giving fifty mile round trips from nearby Chichester Station, despite it being expensive, it too was a sell out.

Folks, I'm telling ya! Murderers sure are dumb. I'm indulging in my favorite guilty pleasure... watching murder shows. These people need to watch them and take notes before they set out to do their dirty deeds because they keep doing the same stupid stuff that others have done before them. Yanno, like trying to poison their victims with antifreeze or hiring some ex-con nitwit to do the deed for them.

The soon-to-be ex-wife on the one I just watched tried antifreeze first, but when that didn't work, she found a sleazebag who'd do it for $10K. Trouble with that bright idea was that her DH had already changed his life insurance policy and she wasn't a beneficiary anymore. So no $ to pay the hit man. Oops.

Now the wife and the hit man are both in jail for life.

Not that I'm contemplating murderizing anybody.

Despite being hot and tired, sleep eludes me. Following on from The Goodwood Revival we did a festival ticket swap with a couple who missed out when The Goodwood Revival sold out. They had our Sunday tickets to The Revival and we had their's to The West Somerset Heritage Railway 1940's event.

We usually allow about an hour and a half for the sixty mile Journey from Goodwood to home, we did it in just over an hour, the midnight traffic being very light. Some friends had collected the cats from their hotel, so they got fed and watered, litter trays emptied, we got showered then off to bed. In the morning it was much of the same, and then we were off. More hats for Holly.

That last photo is like a war movie where the hero bids his family farewell before going off to war. You may recognise Frankie, the lady in the red dress and Ollie, the fellow behind her. I'm sure that I have put their photo up at other functions, what a lovely couple they are.

Hi everyone!

I think I killed my tablet this morning. Dio will try to fix it since I don't know anything about this stuff. The last time I saw it, I think he was putting it in the refrigerator!!!! 😳. Well, I have another tablet to use, but I'm running out of computers!!!

We spent the entire day pulling out fence posts with the tractor. It was exhausting working, but it's done!

And now, it's time for πŸ˜΄πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€

Look at the Beaches today... and some people were sitting in baking hot vehicles in traffic jams on the motorway for hours to get to the coast..nuts!! I lucked out by going to the museum and gardens

Brighton Beach looks great, just how I like it. Stroll along and take in the life and the atmosphere that a nice bit of sunshine brings to the City. Makes a person glad to be alive.

It's Monday morning, I've been told to get GP appointment asap. So called my surgery. No need until I've done the two weeks course of iron tablets. According to GP at Emergency, should have been the other way around.

Secondly, tried to get prescription delivered, not possible. One needs GP to send prescription to their pharmacy, the other one needs a bar code. So, it's no to both.

Meanwhile, I've been told to stay off my feet for at least three days. So, don't have anyone to pick up prescription and I've no the strength until Wednesday.

Thought I'd found some great all-in-one place, but the closest to me is a ferry boat trip away.

Well, you might understand why after all these years, I hate Mondays πŸ˜”.

Regardless, it's a new week I'm ready to kick .... And wishing you a great week. I'm going back to bed. I'll wait till Tuesday comes around πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

So what you're saying @Supernatural, is that you're skipping Monday. Sounds like that might be a good idea.

The weathernerds lied again. This time it was a sin of omission. Not one word about rain. I work up during the night to the sound of rain lashing against my bedroom window. Now I'm suspicious...there's no mention of rain anywhere close by. Geez. Who can we trust?

I'm gonna fiddle around in the garden a bit this morning, do a load of laundry and then vacuum The Hovel. DD might have a plan to run errands. If she does, I'll go along because ya never know. It could be that I have an errand to run, too, and I won't know it until I get out.
