What are you doing today 2023

Hope tomorrow is better for you, Deb.
I am not going out on Friday, except to get the mail if the truck stops.

I wish they'd put a sign on the items on the free table if there's a limit. No sign to me indicates "take whatever you want".
At one time, I had to go to another meal center to pick up the food when I delivered on Mondays and Fridays. Baked goods were brought in on Fridays and that table had a sign "ONLY TAKE ONE PLEASE". By Monday, the table was full of moldy bread - so there!

I agree with you...what's up with not just having a sign on the free table....

When it comes to fresh food, then people should be allowed a max of 3 ...

Yesterday evening we started to take down the last electric fence. It is a 4 strand fence, and we only took down one wire. For the most part, everything went smoothly. Except for the part where I got stung by a yellow jacket. Yep...it was my turn to find the nest this time!!!!

Image
We always have the red wasps and the black wasps around here, but they are not very aggressive and are easy to ignore. We hardly ever have yellow jackets. We can usually go 5 years (or more) without ever seeing one. This is the third nest this year!!!!!

We did completely finish the job, last night. Now, it's a 3 strand fence.

Today will be a typical Friday.....not much going on. We usually take it easy on the day before going to the rink.

.....wishing sunbeams to everyone! 🌞

Yesterday DH & I had a date to meet #2 son and his wife for dinner. The restaurant isn't far from the (very large) medical center DH & I belong to. Their website said members could get the Covid vaccines via drive-through, so we left the house early, got our shots and proceeded on to the restaurant. Had a lovely evening with DS & DDIL.

At 4 am, I woke up with a splitting headache and DH had some body aches. We each took a single ibuprofen and they did the trick and we both fell back asleep until 7. This morning we're both a little achy but with no plans today, we should weather this minor storm easily. So glad to have the vaccine crossed off the list of things to do!

well that was a very eclectic day indeed... but it's the sort of thing I would have done also, so I understand. Hope you have a very restful day.. and hubs.. and you feel better over the weekend 🤗

Well I didn't get the hedges done... it's now 5.30pm... so I won't bother now, and apparently it's going to rain tomorrow, so maybe Sunday...
Delivery has arrived a couple hours earlier than the ETA... I like this driver, he always lets me know if my ring doorbell isn't working.. so I take it off and recharge it..

Got the laundry done today... it's in the dryer now. I felt I needed to do it today because our already Very expensive Electricity is going up yet again in price on the 1st of October (Saturday) and the washer and dryer use a huge amount of energy...

Since I've been on my own..I just do the washing now every 2 weeks.. I have so many clothes and bedding etc.. that I can easily wait 2 weeks to have a full load to wash , so as to save me the cost of the electricity..on a twice weekly wash as when the O/H was still here

I've not ironed anything in a very long me , no need, I buy clothes that don't need ironing nowadays and those few that do go in the dryer and come out unwrinkled..but I have 2 linen Handkerchief style blouses... which are new and arrived very wrinkled, so I'm going to Iron them in a little while, so I get to use the iron again before the increase in cost..

I'm home. TL came in on time. Yay. She was busy working so didn't talk my ear off. Sir came in, too, on his day off.

Sir, TL and I all have the same opinion of the contractor lady, and it ain't good. She told Sir that she'd be back to make sure that we comply with the changes. Fine. I like what I do. I don't like being there anymore but won't leave Sir to the wolves. Just another year before he can retire.

It's yet another glorious day with plenty of sun. Plenty of sun means that my new watering can solar light will be all charged up when it gets dark tonight. Woohoo. (Doesn't take a whole lot to please me!)

@Rich29 That model train setup looks like fun. May I come over and play, too? 🚃🚂

@hollydolly Love the Drop🍁 pix. Keep 'em coming.

@RadishRose Leftovers? The roast is in the freezer? There would be no need to take up freezer space if you'd just shared dinner with the rest of us.

@Naturally You're not paranoid. You were being watched;)

@Pepper You did what? No shame in asking for help. I play the old lady card whenever possible! Don't break any bones or you won't get kitties! Is tomorrow still the day?

Oh my gosh, electricity is going up AGAIN? People must be stressing out with worry about staying warm this winter.
yep. it's going to be hell for many people... especially those on fixed lower wage incomes, and the elderly on basic pensions... another winter of death no doubt and or hospitals being filled with the elderly who then bed block, simply because they can't go home to a freezing house... and the knock on effect of that is that genuinely sick people are prevented from admission to hospital for much needed surgery due to lack of beds.... :(

How terrible. Is the government talking about any help or solutions?

there's a scheme for small financial help for those who are on the very lowest incomes, but it's drop in the ocean toward these high utility bills.. but other than that there is no... help available for anyone... Another problem effect of it of course is that.. people are now having to spend less on food for their families so are having to use food Banks. The food Banks don't have enough supplies.. not by a long way.. because those in the past who donated can no longer afford to..

I watched a documentary the other day.. I was stunned to hear just one food bank.. and there are hundreds if not more around the country .. and especially in the northern cities.. that this one FB has over 2,000 people arriving at their door every week...every week... just beyond belief... and this is being mirrored all around the country...

Well that's it all done now at 8.40pm .. all the laundry washed and dried.. all the ironing done..I ended up ironing 3 shirts, 2 pairs of combat jeans.. all the dish towels.. and bathroom towels...

Cleaned down the machines... put all the clothes away... ..then swapped 4 drawers of stuff over between themselves.. upstairs I have 32 drawers... and all of them have 'stuff'' in them along with the walk in closets ..etc.. .. so to maximise space. I chucked out some things.. and rearranged others into more manageable drawers...

Got the Ring doorbell charged.. up... the motion sensor lights charged up too... then took the meter readings..

Back is killing me I tell you.. not been this painful in a long time, but it was all the bending and the ironing that caused it.. 😣

Last night I upgraded my Mac to the latest OS Version...Senoma 14.0... and today it's not playing nicely.. my photos are not transferring automatically to the cloud, and I'm having to do it manually, and even then it's struggling so..I don't know what to do next... I wish I was a techi..🤓🥸

Did part 2 of 3 appointments with this ophthalmologist. It’s a good thing I live in town; this would be a real pita if not close by, especially since most patients are older or elderly. It’s a lovely fall day. While I was out, I shopped for a bit and couldn’t find anything to buy.

How many times can I ❤️ this? I'm so excited!
I'm a nervous wreck! A happy one! This almost didn't happen. Had to get son on the case to move things forward. He's more excited than me. Foster mother has Covid, didn't want to give them up yet, thought they 'needed' her a bit more, then shelter stepped in, wanted son to pick up cats this past Thursday night. First no cats, then pushed on us too early for son's schedule, but my human baby worked everything out!

Going to a pear festival today. All kinds of food stuff made from pears (Jams, biscuits, puddings, pies, muffins, smoothies, and everything else you can imagine). It normally draws large crowds, food vendors, several bands, craft booths, etc., but weather is showing about 50% chance of showers in the afternoon, so may have to change plans on the fly. Hard to dance with an umbrella I would think, but never tried it. Might be kinda fun.
