Yabbut...why do we keep getting them in the bakery??? We had one last fall who was an absolute genius. She'd watch Sir or me do something once or hear instructions once, and bingo! She had it under control. She was also extremely dexterous and could whiz through laying out anything for proofing or baking in a heartbeat. After two days, she was faster than I ever dreamed of being.

Sometimes she'd show up for work. Most times, she wouldn't. She called out the whole week between Christmas and New Year's, then called and quit the day before New Year's Eve.

It's way past time for us to get a good one.
I remember...

Yesterday, I went for three walks, two different appointments, laundry, a little thrift shopping and finished up the second half of The Burial. Got my high dose flu shot.

Today is going slowly. Vacuuming, laundry, blah. Will even do some ironing. The car has to go in to have the winter tires put on. A quick trip to the drug store is planned. It‘s boring, because I haven’t had a walk yet; I never realized how addicted I am to this.

I went in to see the Doctor today. Just routine.

Got the ol' "Medicare Feeb Test" where they ask weird questions, tell you to remember a list of 3 things (apple, car, chair), ask more weird questions, have you march around the room, go over you with the stethoscope again, etc.

At the end I was like "But, but, what about the 3 things? Apple, car, and chair?"

He goes "Great! You remembered the test!"

Did I pass, fail, or make everyone involved uncomfortable?

I was just remembering a young Irish mother I was talking to yesterday..I tell you she was Irish because like us Scots they chat to strangers.. the Southern English don't...

..and she was/is a mother of 4 girls 4 years old and under.. .. the middle 2 girls are identical twins at 2 years old.. and she made me smile when she told me that the twins have just starting noticing themselves in the mirror.. but they still don't realise it's they themselves they're looking at , and point at the image and remark .''ooh isn't my sister pretty'''...

..that so cute...

Good morning, Invisipeeps. It's gonna be a mostly pleasant day with the possibility of rain later this afternoon.

Maybe I'll bestir myself to do a little tidying up in the garden.

After all my complaints about the lack of quality peeps we get in the bakery, I remembered our Retired Lady, the one who moved back to her home country. We only had her for four months, and she's sorely missed😿 She was so fun and smart and talented, all that and on top of everything all the time. Sigh. She turned out beautifully decorated cakes, cupcakes, cookies. More sighs. And I learned so much about baking how-to's from her. Repeated sighs.

@StarSong TL's concern about anybody else's time/work ethic? Maybe she thinks that making a lot of noise about it deflects from her own shortcomings. Who knows?

Hi all... it's sunny this morning but everything is soaking wet after the torrential rain yesterday and all night long...

No damage to my property that I can see.. but there's been damage elsewhere...

Welp, I slept in till 7am today, a miracle.....I am noticing more
difficulty breathing when i get up lately tho, copd of course,
doubt anything will improve it....today not much going on, my
Barberess will be by at 6pm to skin off all my hair...No real plans for the day otherwise.....so make it a great day gang!!!!:giggle:

Oh my goodness, @hollydolly, what a mess! Are those floods very near you?
some are because our town sits in a valley so always affected by floods.. but fortunately I live just out of town and up high... but those in the pictures no...they're in other towns...mostly Northern towns.. altho' the trees down are in the county next door... where I went yesterday for my consultant appointment..

So yesterday I actually DID get to Costco. Left $178 in the store, plus $47 to fill my gas tank. My last gas purchase was when topping the rental car's gas tank at a Maui Costco last week before turning it in. Wonder if Costco is figuring I got really good gas mileage between fill-ups...

Bought way too much Halloween candy - that's what I get for taking DH shopping. I put one large bag (over 100 pieces) in the cart and he swore we'd need two because he's sure there will be a ton of trick-or-treaters this year.

I'm still working on ridding myself of the last of my vacation weight gain and now there's 11 lbs of my favorite chocolates in perfect snack sizes calling to me from the garage fridge? Not the wisest strategy.

Fortunately, we have a longstanding rule of not cracking open the Halloween candy until the night of. (Don't ask me why we came to that decision.)

When the magic night arrives, I plan to give every kid a generous fistful to minimize the leftovers...

Today I've packed up a big black sack with donations for the charity..including my Blue and white striped leather tote bag which I've had for a good few years.. but since I bought 2 new handbags this month , that's more than enough given that I rarely go anywhere..

I've got another bag to fill with coats , jackets and boots and shoes.. .. everything is in very good condition, and there's a brand new Hospice charity shop opened nearby , so I will let them have all the donation.. usually I split the donations between charities, but this hospice shop need to get off to a good start..

Also today I had to book my dental check-up.. the only date they had available was the same day I'm having my pneumonia vaccine... what a fun day that will be..:D

Star... that's a nasty habit you've got lately.. leaving large amounts of money in Costco like that... it's not good for the psyche...or the Starsong household economy.... you'll have to address these issues.. 🧐
The bigger Costco bill will be coming in a few weeks when I prep for holiday baking. Happy to say, I've done a little shopping over the course of the year and already have a stash of 16 lbs of frozen butter of the roughly 24 lbs I'll need.

As luck would have it, my produce store has walnuts on sale this week for $1.99/lb! I'll pick up about 8 lbs sometime in the next few days.

That's a very thoughtful thing to do. ❤️

24 pounds of butter... ?.. I only asked for little cake...

During the night, another Eucalyptus tree branch came down that I cleaned up this morning instead of going for my usual walk with the pups. Well, they get never tired of cheering me on no matter what I am doing. The fire marshal wants tree branches cut up to 6 feet because of fire hazard. OK, something to do for tomorrow, and the fence also needs some mending.
