I went to the volunteer luncheon and they gave out these little starfish lapel pins to the attendees. It's attached to a card with an inspirational message.

An Atlanta charity for homeless children that I was involved with had that poster on the wall of their office. They have made a great difference for many children over the years. Some come back to celebrate and show off their college degrees.

What a beautiful collection you have!

@Naturally Have I missed it or do you not have a Swiss Army knife?

I survived the day, and it was a long one. Our friend lives on the other side of the city, a side of the city that I really don't like because it's too peopled. Bumper-to-bumper traffic. Wall-to-wall people. Strip malls everdamnwhere. Oy! There's nowhere to breathe. We left home at 1, got there at 2, didn't get back until just after 5. Too much for me after working six hours (and getting up at 4am). And it didn't make Maggiecat happy, either, because she wants her supper at 4. Or else!

And our friend's choice of where to eat? The food was good, but it was very "hipster"-ish. Everything on the menu was noted as gluten-free, keto-friendly, vegan, vegetarian or whatever all else is trendy. I guess few people actually enjoy just eating a good meal anymore without first having to sort of parse it, like a sentence, and what's the fun in that? It's gotta be "good" for you.

I didn't ask Sir to trade days off. He's already so stressed (and I am, too) that it was just another thing to add to the list. I can do one more day.

It's supposed to be 80 again tomorrow and Monday but turn pretty chilly Monday night. Tuesday's high temp is probably not going to even hit 60 with a light freeze Tuesday night, then about a week of cold days and nights. That's quite a drastic difference from what we've had.

Guess I can kiss my flowers goodbye for the season :( and start whining about winter. Can't handle the heat anymore, hate the cold. What's an old lady to dooooo?

buy an Oodie... sleeved blanket.. Slanket ...Snuggsie.... you''ll be as warm as toast in winter...

It's absolutely torrential rain here tonight... it was freezing here earlier..so I put the oodie on.. and sat and watched tv in the TV room.. which is the coldest room in the house... and I was warm. Had it on for about 2 hours.. came upstairs and within minutes I had to take it off cuz I was too warm.. and that's with no heating on at all...all day long, and it's now just past midnight ( altho' I've just put the clock back so it's really 11.23..)

..a real slap ?... what did you do ?
A playful slap really. I took her out, not quite wined and dined her, she's on antibiotics so no alcohol, I took advantage of that and finished the bottle. I did offer to get a cab but I knew that she would drive, not having had an alcoholic drink, so for my pretence she admonished me. My fault really, letting the wine do the talking. It does get me into one or two scrapes now and then.

@ holly,, He didn't say where.
Some of the pictures were of the London Bridge.

Sort of hectic day,, trying to get downstairs rooms clean.

Hubby came in with bad news that the steering went out of the backhoe he's using to move & load logs with.
Don't know if he expected me to help or what.

I don't like to operate the vacuum when he's in the same room as I am. 🙃

Finally told him I don't have the strength to help with it.
I'm small & have lost weight.

He did get an order for firewood, which we loaded & he delivered.

@Georgiagranny ... On this episode of "Swiss Army Saturday Night"
These are the few Victorinox knives I have. A couple of Mikov brand Fish Knives from the Czech Republic for good measure.
All are Victorinox with the exception of one Wenger brand pocket knife ... The Handyman.
The Handyman is just like the one MacGyver used in the old TV series.
The Wenger Handyman is no longer made and hasn't been for long time.
Shown below with a Western brand F66 Black Beauty from the 1960's. Good as new and ready to work.
With the Black Beauty and the Handyman, most bases are covered :)

@Naturally Very nice! Mine is like the one top left of the first picture. It goes everywhere with me and has come in handy many times.

I'm up. It's finally Sunday. Didn't seem like it would ever get here, but it really is and once I'm done at noon, I'm done until Tuesday morning. Yay.

With the help of the melatonin in tart cherry juice, I slept the sleep of the innocent last night. I'm rested and ready to lick my weight in wildcats. Sort of.

This rain is relentless.. been torrential since yesterday.... the floods are back again in town.. . I honestly have never been so glad that I live high up as I have this past month. I just can't ever remember this much rain...

Had to rush up to the outbuildings this morning in my Pyjamas with just a coat thrown over and boots on to turn on the dehumidifiers before everything gets soaked through and it rusts the tools and the freezers . I have one small dehumidifier on 24/7. in one shed.. but the one in the Barn is large I can't afford to have it running constantly..
