What are you doing today 2023

@packleader oh yes we got the tail end of Storm Babet last week.. so we know all about that... I was saying then.. that I have never known as much rain in the south as we've had here in the past month. This part of the UK is the driest... compared to the rest of the UK we get very little rain..

A couple of walks, but made them shorter than usual because of the inclement weather. We’re desperate for rain. Some cars have the white stuff on them.
Tore the pages out of my record book for meals. It went back to Jan. 2020 and I quit using it sometime this year. Read DH some of the meals. Bought a new one at the $ store today. Having a general plan for what I’ll be serving makes meals easier.

I received a new dead bolt set for the front door. Son had broken his key off in it, wanted to replace it because the door knob lock does not seem that strong to me. I am too tired today to attempt to tackle it. I have never done it before but I think it should be pretty straightforward. I can always youtube if I need help.

I have managed to get in the kitchen. Making a chicken and stuffing casserole. Already made some dinner rolls and a cake, this should take care of the next few days of dinner.

Of course, I do this in steps or wouldn't be able to do it. It is nice to have some good comfort food when it gets chilly.

I don't know what is going on around here the last few days, things have been so noisy. Big dog has been barking all day long. Neighbor next door has gone crazy working on her front porch. She is up at 4AM out there with a radio blaring, hammering, slamming doors. Normally not a problem but that is about when I go to bed. All her outdoor noise is really making it had to sleep and my dog is not making it better. I am going to look for earplugs next time I go out. I wish they had them for dogs too! LOL

I had a nice Halloween, I walked over and watched the Hocus Pocus movie at one of the clubhouse auditoriums, walked home to get my purse, then walked to the grocery store to buy pitta and hummus to make a snack dish to take to our building's Halloween party. It was a nice party but very low turnout (maybe 20 people, tho a few more showed up right at the end). I had a super simple costume of cat ears, fuzzy paws (fingerless gloves with paw print markings), and a clip on tail. This has been the most Halloweeny year for me since my kid was little.

LOVE that orange and you look cute. 😍 Glad you had a nice time.

I took an Uber to my optometrist, whose office is in the next town. I got an RX for new glasses. My son had to make an unplanned dental appointment to get a tooth pulled. His dentist is not far from the eye doctor so he picked me up but didn't feel up to taking me to Costco's eye center.

I didn't do much else today. Had a couple of phone conversations, took a nap, watched the news & part of a TV show.

Talked myself out of buying another Case pocket knife Thursday.
Guess I'll have to choose one of those Case knives I do have, for Friday tote.

We're just starting to catch the tail end of the storm. Forecast is for some heavy rain but not much wind. The East of Scotland is relatively dry and so far the weather hasn't been anything unusual. I hope everyone in the south is managing OK. I remember the great storm of 1987 when the weatherman Michael Fish assured everyone that there wouldn't be a hurricane! I lived in Hampshire at that time, and while many houses that sat E-W suffered a lot of damage, houses like mine which sat N-S were OK. Only damage was to one fence panel.

Anyway, have to go into town this morning and hopefully the road will be OK. Occasionally it suffers minor flooding when a lot of water runs off the surrounding fields.

Given all the weather excitement & anxiety some members are experiencing, this won't amount to much, I suppose. But a bit before we were going to turn in for the night yesterday, there was a mild clunk sound—seemed to come from down a little ways on the basement steps. But a glance revealed nothing. However, when I went into the bathroom 15 minutes later, I spotted a fat grey squirrel on the rim of the bathtub. My wife came in to see the scene, but by then the squirrel had scaled the corner of the tiled wall above the tub.

What ensued was my wife getting a fishing net, and me getting a yard-long stick. Then we went back in, and the squirrel was now on the long tube for the o-rings holding up the shower curtain. I maneuvered the stick, my wife held the net below. After some doing(!), we got the terrified fat, bushy-tailed rodent into the net. Took it out the side door and let it go into the night, and watched it racing away until we couldn't see it beyond the reach of the outdoor lighting.

Not a frequent sort of occurrence. Our MaineCoon cat once brought a live one in about seven years ago.

I've been into London today. I needed so much , and not been able to get out because of the storms for over a week ...

I felt as it was dry today and no wind... and the forecast said there was no rain for today.. off I went ... I rarely ever drive into London on a Friday , because it's choc-a-block with traffic.. but more rain is forecast for the weekend... so I really had little choice...

I did what I went to do in the city .. then off to the superstore for groceries and into M&S as well for specialist foods.. and other stuff... came out of M&S.. and the sky had opened and it was persisting down..absolutely awash.. .
The skies were navy blue... thick with rain and cloud.. the exact opposite to the sunshine when I went into the store 30 minutes earlier...

On a lighter note, I got a thick roll neck jumper from M&S...

I've been home since noon but feeling increasingly more resentful of TL and her shenanigans so spent a few hours calming myself down by self-talk: "It's not my problem." Unfortunately, it is my problem because it affects getting my work done.

Had to leave a lot undone today because there was so much to do. Why? Because TL didn't do stuff that she should have and left it for me. One of her fun things was rolling a cart full of frozen cookie dough and individual servings of frozen desserts into the cooler and leaving it there. Everything was thawed this morning, of course. Can't refreeze that stuff.

And we got a new gizmo for making labels/pricing sometime during the night. No instructions! I figured out features that I needed to use, but then it ran out of paper about five minutes before time for me to leave. I just left it sitting there because I didn't have time to fool with it.

TL might take the time to figure out how to load new roll of paper, but it's more likely that she'll decline to do anything at all in regard to pricing and/or labeling products because it's not her job...

I left at 10 past 12. She's on today's schedule 12-8. She wasn't there when I left. Friday is almost always Sir's day off, and he was. Off tomorrow, too.

ETA: "Cooler" is like fridge, just not as cold.

Sigh.
