. Nevertheless, they opted for yet another repair. It didn't work. Therefore, we have no heat. No news about how soon we might have heat.
Are you serious, @Georgiagranny ? (Rhetorical question from shock... of course you are serious) Sheesh...

Today has been fun... kind of, lol Went to chiropractor appt this AM, put the phone on charger and just grabbed my driver's license and car keys-- I mean, I'm only going to be there like 10 min, right? Get home and son has gone out, locking doors like a dutiful, conscientious son... Haha, joke's on me. (No I don't have a hide-a-key) Fortunately, able to get to Ed's house and use his phone to call son.

Stayed at Ed's to visit til son was home... we're currently reading C. Dicken's "A Christmas Carol" Great story, we are enjoying it. I love doing the voices

Got home, picked up purse/phone and went to Walmart for some Jesse Tree gifts for a little girl. An actual *pleasant* WalMart trip. Couldn't locate one of the toys requested. Hold onto your hats, now-- a sales person actually made eye contact when I asked for help, walked me to the right aisle and pulled the toy off the shelf 0.0 I 'bout fell out! Along with finding all the stuff requested, went to the bakery and found a single serving size of Tiramisu I have been craving this for months. Brought it home, cut it in quarters and am enjoying a portion with a cup of tea. The rest is in the freezer =D

Rest of the day is this-and-that. Have a lovely day, whatever you are doing...

@CinnamonSugar Yup. Dead serious. When money is spent it's a minus; when money is made it's a plus. Money spent equals smaller bonuses for management. Guess we'll be cold until spring because fixing the heat in the spring is cheaper than fixing the heat in winter.

I thought I'd watch a movie. I don't recommend Hallmark movies. Sappy. And predictable.

I bought myself a smart watch that is too smart for me ($15.99 from temu.com.) When I asked my kids to explain the instructions to me, they already knew how to use that darn thing. I couldn't even figure out how to charge it with the magnetic charging points; my daughter connected it without even looking up. HELP ME, I am living on the moon.

I bought it as a watch. Now I start wondering whether it actually can be used as a watch. Aha, it must be used with Bluetooth, Android, etc., and I have none of them. I probably end up giving it to my grandson.

And more about electronics. My oldest daughter came home for Christmas before the classes she is teaching in China were on vacation. Now she is teaching her classes in China online via laptop and iPhone, timewise16 hours ahead of California. Being myself almost 88 years old, I have sometimes difficulties understanding the world in which I am living. Somehow I missed out on some things since I retired from work.

I rather enjoy old-fashioned things, like going hiking with my three Boxer dogs two hours a day, or helping my son-in-law cleaning up our garden (he was cutting today a tree with a chain saw.) And I am studying for my written knowledge test next week to get my driving license renewed for another five years.

If there was a real thumb's up I'd have strained my thumb on this post.

Cookie cutter crap, I have no idea why they make these things. They seem to be getting dumber now if anything. Not just the ones labeled "Hallmark" you can smell everything these hacks put out.

Grr.. grr... fire... fire... arrgh. Hulk smash!

heloooo...I'm back.... through all the floods and biblical rain.. what a nightmare drive....

...anyway... you wouldn't believe how packed the pub restaurant was.. there was no chance of walk-ins so it was a good thing we booked....

This is where we went...

The Plough Coton | The Plough restaurant Cambridge

delicious lunch.. but there was so much of it I got mine to take home.. I can make another 2 lunches out of what I brought home.,

We had the A La Carte menu,...

DD and I both had the Scallops.. which were really big, and had a mushroom duxelle roll, included...

She had the minted Lamb chops... and I had the Monkfish in Pancetta.. with Caviar and Prawn mousse

The table on the right under the horse pictures is where we were seated today...

I couldn't take pictures because the places was full up with people, so it would have been an imposition...

What a great menu. I'm hungry!

Well that horrible drive yesterday obviously tired me out...I slept 8 hours.. wow, first time in forever...except during the night I got horrible painful cramps in my left thigh 😫😫..but otherwise I really slept well...

Yesterday on top of the terrible drive in the heavy rain and winds.. my exhaust blew... I didn't hear it on the way up,. but when I got in the car to come back, OMG what a racket.. I was so embarrassed drive it back home. I didn't know if it would cause me to break down or not...so I was very concerned that I'd end up broken down on the motorway far from home in the Lashing rain, and chock-a-block traffic...

I'm going to have to ring a garage to get it fixed, but this close to Christmas they'll doubtless be very full up with work..

Other than that.. no plans for today...

A nice day here and we'll risk hanging out a load of washing. At least there's no shopping today.
I'm off to feed the birds. There's a resident blackbird in my garden. When I go to fill the feeders, I say "good morning Mr. Blackbird" It sits at a safe distance until I've put out the seed and nuts, and then it comes down and starts to eat.

Other small birds just seem to materialise out of the blue.

Got up at 2am. Remembered there was a meteor shower which could be seen in my area, so I stayed up but saw nothing except for Jupiter, I think it was Jupiter. Anyway, stayed awake. Want to stay awake all day and go to bed normal time or only a little sooner.

Today, my DIL might be in the audience for Kelly Clarkson Show, 3pm ET on NBC. It's not a show I normally watch. It seems Kelly is giving away massive gifts to her audience for Xmas and DIL hoping to score. She is going with her mom, her cousin, and mother of grandson's friend. If she had invited me I would have dropped dead from shock. I have covid anyway, but she didn't know that in advance.

Yes, you finally heard a DIL complaint from me. Stay tuned, there may be more.

Well, in spite of lack of sleep, I have things to do today...have to
make a bunch of calls to medical providers, to convince them to honor the 'zero" balance due the hospital gave me last week....I just don't seem to have the energy or the "want to" to get things done this whole week, I've really been super lazy....I guess this COPD is part of it and of course winter time blues.,...
ah ell I'll git er done today!!!! (I hope):po_O Oh and my new laptop comes in today, so will see if I have the brains left to learn a new system....win 10....

the COPD will definitely be part of it Hawky... but you gotta watch that by doing very little, it's perpetuates itself... and you feel like you have less and less energy.

However I do understand when it comes to the COPD..my ex husband ( long ago ex from 40 years ago)..now lives alone, suffers badly from COPD.. every move exhausts him now...his flat is so messy that he won't even let people see it now.. and altho' he makes the right noises about getting someone in to clean it he just never feels up to having it done..

if only he'd not been so tight and paid for a weekly cleaning service before it got so bad.. he wouldn't be in this position now which has got to be very stressful...
