I'm back, with the car... it's quite a walk from the bus stop to the garage which is in an industrial Area, and it meant crossing over the Dual carriageway.. not to be taken lightly at rush hour believe me.. and then when I got there I was out of breath from walking so fast, and my hip was killing me.., most of the places were closed, and everything was pitch dark.. and for a minute I thought he'd shut up shop and gone.. .. but he was there all alone, and as I approached he said he'd just rung my landline.. well that was already after 5pm, so if I'd waited for his call it would have been too late..

Anyway for those who wish to know, it cost £660..

Itemised...

Full check & Diagnostic = £60.00

Rear exhaust silencer box and clamp £110.00 ( incidentally he said they clamped it and not welded)

Rear exhaust Silencer and clamp fitted and centre pipe repair.. = £80.00

Front Brake Discs x2 & Front Brake Pads x4 replaced =£300.00

Total £550.00
Tax= £110.00

Total = £660

He's booked it in again for the first week of January for the other work including the MOT to be done... cost will be £300

Vehicles can be expensive critters.

The only solace I would tell myself , is that it would cost more to replace it, by buying some other used car at present prices.
Ugh.... at least it is drivable, now, and it's scheduled for the rest.

Went out this morning, just to CVS, only a block from me. Went out again after Young & Restless, but had to turn back. Felt not good, and couldn't push myself. Will try again tomorrow. Obviously, not well enough to have gone to grandson so I should just stop feeling guilty.

Seeing son tomorrow. He is coming over early am, before work, to get cats to take them to vet for spay/neuter; then after 6 pm he will pick them up at vet & drop them off back here.

well tbf.. aside from the exhaust it was drivable before he got it.....but that's precisely my thoughts, even with the extra work .. it will only have cost £1000.. and I couldn't buy a new or good second hand car for anything near that... , and tbh .. I'm happy enough to keep my car because it's in very good condition outside and inside...

..now watch someone bash into it now I've said that...let's hope not...

Whenever I think I want to buy a car, I see something like y'all's expensive maintenance and repairs, not to mention the cost of insurance. Then I'm grateful to not have to support a car.

DD went grocery shopping. She brought back stuffed mushrooms for me. I heated them up. I ate them and called it supper. I feel better now than I have all day.

It's jammie time. I bought ice cream today. Stuffed mushrooms for supper. Ice cream for dessert. And I get to stay up "late" tonight. Life is good.

I always found that when it was my day off the next day and I wanted to stay up late, I was just too tired....

Yeah. Me, too. But "late" to me is about 9pm.

I forgot to mention that my paycheck deposit in the morning is gonna be a big, fat one. Yippee. It's all going back into savings so I can recover from Christmas spending.
You know I was counting tonight how much I've spent since just last Wednesday (7days)... almost £1800 and none of it was on me....

Not bad except for the 20% tax!

After questioning my memory about which courier I used to send back the coat, I sent an email to Eddie Bauer. They researched it, apologized and my refund is being processed.

Tonight I had a small bowl of the Nuts N Bolts I made. They were very good and I won’t ever make them again. I forgot there was a reason I hadn’t made them in years. They have too many processed cheese crackers, etc and my lips are tingling now.

wet and windy here, gonna finish wrapping a prezzie,,,maybe brekkie out,,then potter around doing bits and pieces,,,,,,
good luck to day Holly

Daughter arrived safely and on time yesterday. No plans for today which is fine - we could do with a day doing very little.
Very windy here. Whenever the wind comes from a certain direction, it 'howls' in the chimney. Woke me up a couple of times last night.
It's 7:45 and just getting light. After brekkies (porridge today) I'll go down the garden and check for any damage.

thanks Virtual Sis....... I'm told despite getting the injection this morning the pain relief won't set in for 2 weeks...
DGD was told the same thing about injection for her back, but got relief in about an hour. Fingers crossed for you.

I'm up. I'm even awake. I'd probably have slept longer, but Maggiecat had a different idea.

Thinking about spending the day in jammies.

And my paycheck has already been moved to savings 💰

Me too... 😊

Just lately, I've had several visitors, 4 days running, so the big teapot has come into use and I know for a fact that I may only get just the occasional caller now.
Anyway, this morning (half asleep and empty headed) I made a full pot of tea in the big teapot which holds 6 large mugs of tea instead of the small 2 mug teapot, so here I am, on my third mug of tea, a bit afraid to move too quickly incase I pee myself, or worse, create a massive tidal wave in my belly..... well I'm not going to waste it. 😊
