What are you doing today 2023

Those posts always interest me, excepting the type specifically designed to always tout another country by stomping on the US. One SFer does that routinely and it's beyond tiresome.

After some traveling, I've yet to find a country I didn't enjoy or a population I didn't find kindly, helpful and welcoming. Some a little more than others perhaps, but all have been positive experiences. Same with different areas of the US. People everywhere seem to try to be good humans.

I occasionally lurk on a forum of nearly all Brits (maybe UKers?), and find a lot of truth in what you said above. Some of what they complain or rave about are pretty much non-issues here. And what worries Americans is sometimes barely on their radar. Or they perceive the issue differently.

The US is the best country. It's certainly not the UK. :D

Mind you - Australia is very very close.

We went out ahead of the rainstorm, thankfully!

We needed Orange Juice and few others to tie us over, aka the essentials, until the New Year. Unfortunately, we forgot Mayonnaise and Dijon mustard... Bummer!

Thanks to Mother Nature's strange whims, we woke up to a beautiful snow covered landscape. It's resisting the rain, woohoo! 🤣🤣🤣.

Got to wear our new winter boots which Santa brought us. It kept our feet neat and dry, warm as well from the mini rivers and slush we encountered today.

Now, isn't it usual... We've to go back out to get the missing items AND lettuce (just remembered 😂) otherwise them delicious turkey leftovers sandwiches won't be as tasty 😋 ehehe.

Just back from a run to grab a typical Alabama lunch to go ...
BBQ, Greens, Mac 'n Cheese, Cornbread. Git In !!!

Some years back I purchased some Honeybaked Ham products,
whole ham, half hams etc, they were rancid when they came in....got a refund and it all went into the trash....
I had to buy 20 Harry & David baskets one year for corporate gifts, the big pyramidal ones, you know....that cost a fortune. Candies, cookies, yummies, those wonderful pears that they have a monopoly on. I picked them up at the mall, took them back to the office late in the afternoon so that we could start delivering them the next morning.

When I got in early the next morning, the office smelled like a garbage dump. Rotten vegetation to the max, like the bin behind a grocery store on Sunday night. I was in hysterics. We couldn't deliver something smelling like that!

I called Harry & David and they said "we'll have another 20 baskets ready for you in an hour". I said, "OK, I'll pack up the baskets to bring back." "Nope, keep the baskets and just throw the fruit out."

Now, that's customer service for you. No arguments, no fuss. I have a feeling that they had got a bad crop of their "special" pears that year and I may not have been the first to call to complain. Whatever the reason, I appreciated the good service.

So, we took off the boxes of pears, retied the bows and everyone in the office got to take home a pyramid of goodies. And goodies they were. Nothing cut-rate about the Harry & David stuff.

I got everything Christmas packed up and back on the shelves in the garage. Some of the decorations are in the trunk of my car and going to the charity shop tomorrow. A lot of people like to buy them for next year.

Once Christmas is over, I'm ready to move on.

I had to go to Walmart today for some grocery shopping. The place was deserted, except for Customer Service, where a LOT of people were bringing stuff back. Their Christmas section was still packed with stuff, so I guess people weren't buying much this year. It's all marked down to 50% but it doesn't seem to be moving. It would have to be at least 75% to get my blood moving....LOL.

Oh, and good news, my toes are NOT broken, just badly bruised. My foot looks like I poured india ink on it, but it will fade with time. I'm still limping and the foot will probably hurt for a long time. I have only one pair of "outside" shoes I can wear on that foot, so I won't be a fashion plate for a while.

It just hit me that I forgot the lemon, that’s two days in a row. It was a nice morning for walking so I went to the store for a few supplies. Killed two birds.

Facetimed with my granddaughter and two greats. I’m not designed for all that energy and noise.

the other thing that's against the rules is spamming... !
I'd delete the entire series of posts if I could, or ask for them to be if that didn't make me an even bigger PITA for the admin than I probably am. :p

I've even wiped the post that started all of this. I'm not going in there again no matter how many try to drag me kicking and screaming.

I managed to sit at my old sewing machine for a very short time, for the first time in many, many months. (that means years)
I mended a bedsheet that is worth it to us. I felt very happy to do something like that.

Been on the phone a bit with medical people, got complete
forgiveness of debts of hospital stay awhile back, except,
my home town ambulance won't recognize any forgiveness at all..!!ah well....
Ours is the same, but will accept very tiny payments. You could ask about that, or just try doing it.
I am glad you got the hospital benefit!:)

Thanks... the only slight damage so far is to my right foot. I was trying to secure the rubbish bins when the wind literally lifted two of them and one landed on my foot. It was sore for a while and probably bruised, but it could have been worse.

These are the sort of bins we are provided with - and they're heavy, even when they're empty.
