What did you get for Christmas ?

Hope this isn't too off topic but do any of you remember, in grade school, the teacher having the kids go around and each tell everything they got for Christmas? Even at the time, it seemed like a bad idea to me, and looking back I'm sort of appalled.

My little school was in West Virginia where a few kids came from very wealthy families, but some were so poor they came to school barefoot in the fall until the PTA women got shoes for them. Ask them where they lived and they would answer, "Up a holler."

The year I was eight my parents were building a new house and we didn't get much. I remember thinking, well at least poor Charles would have someone else to share the shame with.

With the energy shortages, a lump of coal might be a nice present this year.

I'm still waiting for my Hanukkah present(s) to show up. I think I'm getting some mixing bowls (judging by the hints my daughter has given me).

Some think that mixing bowls would not be a good present, I think it is lovely. Some times it the simple things that we can use everyday are the best present. I love getting kitchen towels, house shoes a robe or a throw. Who doesn't need new wooden spoons, new measuring cups and spoons. Those type of things thrill me, they make my life better!
