What have you bought recently?

After some fits and starts with new sneakers, I wound up with three pairs I like that fit well. Will return the pair today that I didn't like and am throwing away all my old sneakers.

When I walked into Costco yesterday wearing the red ones, the lady working the door said, "Ooh! Nice sneakers!"

Since getting these sneakers about a week ago I believe I've fielded more compliments on them than on any shoes I've owned. Ever.

It might be because people don't expect a woman in her 70s to be wearing fun, kicky kicks, but even so....

When lunching with my GFs on Monday, one of them said to me, "Starry, I can't help it - every time I look at your (red) sneakers I just have to smile. Not many could pull them off, but you sure can!" When I went for another treadmill test on Thursday, the two RNs running the test complimented them and asked about the brand and if they were comfortable. The who set me up for the CT scan said, "Whoa - nice shoes!"

They really are adorable and comfortable.

I bought several different ounces of washed, carded wool for spinning. I bought 4 larger amounts of Heritage wool for the best spinning ever, all from England and Scotland and all in natural sheep colors. So today I spun a half bobbin of Hartwick wool in medium grey and what a joy!! When I get my camera figured out for JPEG I'll post some pics.

I have only just seen them and I love them! :)

DD wanted to visit Clarence in the garden center at Lowe's. She said she had a "hankering" to visit him. What could I do? When I'm with her, I'm captive and have to go where she goes.

She got a million-bells petunia for half price ($9). She's leaving hers in the hanging basket it came in. She made me get two orange marmalade plants in little pots for $4 each. I've already planted them.

There goes her inheritance💸💸.

ETA: I had this thought about not being properly supervised and encouraged to piddle away DD's inheritance: revenge! Revenge will be that she'll have to manage this whole enormous garden, planted mostly in perennials, by herself. Revenge, as we know, is a dish best served cold. I'm gonna be cremated. By the time she has to deal with the garden, I'll be plenty cold!:ROFLMAO:

Bought a new overhead light fixture for the Kitchen. The old one gave up the ghost this morning. Cost me $89 bucks at Lowes. Lowes would have charged me another $209 bucks to install it. So I did it myself. It was a real pain in the butt working overhead from a ladder that was too short on the rung I was standing on, but too tall on the next higher one. Took me two hours and my back aches like crazy but I saved $104.50 an hour so I guess it was worth it.

Air conditioning in my Jeep was loosing pressure and that was unacceptable with temps reaching the upper 90's lately.
Found the Schrader valve in the low pressure service port had a slow leak.
Bought a Valve Core Remover / Installer Tool Kit.
It allows replacement of the Schrader valve without loss of A/C refrigerant charge.
Replaced Schrader valve on the low pressure service port and topped off refrigerant.
Jeep is blowing cold air again. WOooHOoo
Figure I saved a ton of money by not having to take the problem to a repair shop.
Took less than 10 minutes to repair.

I wish you were here to fix my a/c in my car. First, he was telling me I probably needed to recharge it for $240-250. Now, it's an electrical problem...$$$$$. I love the feel of fresh air blowing on me. :giggle:

I hear ya. Chasing A/C gremlins can be a pain and pricey. Luckily mine was an easy fix. It did take me a couple of hours online, looking at youtube videos and researching tools. I'm no A/C guy but since all I have is time, I like to research and see if I can fix something before I turn to the pros. At $240-250 for a recharge, the pros are making a killing. Shoot.

Refilled two bus cards with ten rides each. DH isn’t driving because of a shoulder problem so he had his first ride on the local system. I don’t use them much but they’re handy to have rather than digging for exact change.
here we have free bus passes after 60..... so if I had no car at all I could use the buses but it's all a faff.. an hour between buses, and then they only go to the nearest market town, so then it would mean more changes of buses, and or commuter trains.. all exhausting.. it can take 3 hours with all that faffing with public transport, to cover a distance that I can drive in 20 minutes..
