The Piano was released in the late 90s. I've never seen it, but maybe it just didn't age well.
Directors like Jane Campion and a few "progressive" film producers and studios are cranking out films and series these days that I just can't stomach. Films and series that cram "the message" down our throats, that totally ruin the franchises they've been bequeathed, like Star Wars, and DC and Marvel Comics, completely abandoning the worlds they've built and the quests for peaceful societies they once represented. Even Disney has abandoned its wholesome values in order to push "the message" down children's throats.
If I see one more teenage or 20-something girl smart-alek her way through an otherwise reasonable and necessary debate on strategy, or destroy an entire criminal organization that's managed to "outsmart" the Justice League or whomever for 50 years with one stroke of her petite open fist, or invents some magical tool no one ever thought of before or wipes out an entire race of beings just to move the plot along or add action content, I will hurl all over the theater seats.
I don't even like to go to the theater anymore. It's not worth it when I can get "the message" crammed down my throat for free just by logging onto my PC or turning on my television. At least then, if I unintentionally get slapped with "the message," I can vomit in my own toilet.
