What was your first car?

Here is my wife's first car, a '53 Chevy Bel air. Her Dad bought it for her in '58. I don't know what he paid for it. After 3 wrecks that weren't her fault, he made her trade it in for a '58 Chevy that she still had when we got married.

Here is a photo from the web of my second car, a Renault Dauphine. It's the worst car I've ever owned. I paid $1000 for it and sold it for $50 to a mechanic for parts.

The '53 and '54 Chevy's were the best looking Chevrolet's ever built, IMO. My first car was a 1950 Oldsmobile that I worked and paid for myself. I use a picture of a '50 Olds as my avatar. The best.parts of that car was the suicide knob on the steering wheel and the center horn ring with the deep blue sky and the stars and planet with the ring around it.

Not got a pic but the first car we had was a a Ford Thames 5cwt commercial van in about 1962. The speed limit was 45mph in the UK for vans without side windows.

My Hubby made it comfy in the back and that van got us from the south of England to Scotland to see friends and return via the Highlands.
The van was brilliant but did have a problem crissing Rannoch Moor when the fan belt snapped and we were stranded but got to a garage somewhere it was fixed and got us home over the Border. Did some leg (mileage) that old van did on its mammoth journey. Happy memories!

Next car we had was a Ford Anglia and this proved a good'n too. We sold it as there was a rust hole in the floor and a dealer bought it and we got a good deal.

Then we had a Vauxhall Victor Delux and it was not a good choice and got shot of it. Then came a Ford Cortina1.6 Ghia Injection and was a nice car in the 70's and a I worked for Ford Motor Co andGot a discount. A nice model back then and we ran it into the ground and sold it for silly money.

Then came a black Ford Orion 1.6 Ghia Injection and had the spoilers and showy bits on it that was all the buzz back in the mid 80's. She lasted nearly 18 years and a good car and not what the motor trade call a Friday night job.Called it Black Bess.

Then came a BMW 1.8 Series 3 we bought in 1999 in Holland and this car has been great and done 70 k miles on the clock and Ive still got it...a brilliant car and looks the biz.

Love all the pics on here and just love those American/ Canadian cars from back when 🚘

I never owned a car when I was in High School....I did use my brother's car (Desoto) to get to work after I graduated from HS...
When I married my husband he had a 1957 Ford....

It was a "Rebel. ooh! It was my younger brother's car, but iIdon't know what happened- my parents gave me the car. My parents aren't exactly the car giving kind- so SOMETHING had to happen. What it was is still a closely held secret. My brother couldn't explain the bullet hole. rebel.jpg
