What's for dinner ( or lunch )

Right this minute I've got chicken baking in the AF..... and I've already cooked the Broccoli and that's waiting for the chicken to be ready... and I'm about to try frozen mashed potato for the first time. When the chicken is done and resting..I'll put the frozen mash in the Microwave.. for 3 minutes.. and we'll see how that tastes ..

Anyone else had it before ? what do you think ?
How was the mash?

Don't think much of that frozen potato TBH... very dry..even after I added butter & milk to it... Don't think it's worth the preservatives in it.. I'll stick to real potato once this bag is done..

That is a shame but, air fried chicken is nice. :)

I've only done chips or hashbrowns in my AirFryer. Pretty good.

I've a Weight Watchers 3 tier steamer for hardboiled eggs and all my vegetables. Used to have a rice cooker but as it's over 5 years old can't get replacement silver bowl insert. Currently buy microwave rice.

We love frozen mash. The best ones are Perfect Mash from Iceland

I find them better tasting than the dry flakes pouch.

Regardless, I always add milk, butter, onion granules/powder, S&P to taste. They're wee tubular sticks. A quarter bag is good enough for one person. For daughter and I, half a bag isn't enough lol. We're mash crazy lol...

yes I have the AF chicken probably once a week.... but this was my first time trying the frozen mash. It comes in little pellets.. ..it wasn't offensive, and it would probably be handy to keep in the freezer for emergencies.. but it doesn't taste like real mashed potato...

I am not a fan of mashed potato.

I really like the air fryer. I recently tried breaded cod in it for the first time, it was really good. :)

I don't like anything breaded.. but I have cooked battered fish in there, cane out great.. but you have to use 2 linerS (if you use them).. because an awful lot of oil come out...

I've tried pies in there.. they come out fine, but slightly more dried out Than in the oven,...

Homemade Hamburger Helper style pasta.

Fusilis with minced beef, mature cheddar and a tin of tomato soup. We've got a wonderful 50/50 bread, so I'm making garlic butter with fresh garlic for toast.

Dessert, M&S Apple pie with UHT single cream. Warmed up in microwave 🙂

I didn't notice a lot of oil tbh but, I have been looking at the liners and wondering if they are worth getting. I am glad you mentioned pies because, I was thinking of trying one in the air fryer. :)

yes I think there's much more oil in Batter coating than Breadcrumbs... I wouldn't be withiout the paper lier at all now. I use them for everything I bake in the AF.. prior to that I was having to wash the whole AF after everything I cooked, but with the parchment liners.. which I buy 50 at a time ..I don't need to wash the AF unless it's been something like chicken or pork which would have splashed a little bit...

Thanks, I think I will get some liners :)

I didn't have dinner tonight, because I had an all day breakfast for lunch at the pub.. which consisted of Bacon, eggs, Sausages, and chips... I ate only the egg and bacon...and maybe 6 chip ( fries) but it meant I didn't feel like dinner tonight.. instead I had a little chocolate fudge mousse cake ..

Daughter knew I was upset. So she cooked dinner. She made double cheeseburgers with salad, sauce, pickles and cooked onions. In our new AirFryer, she made the chips. A glass of Schweppes Canada Dry Gingerale with ice cubes. Followed by a cup of brewed tea. Yummy!

Last night I had a Chinese Take-away.

Chicken Curry, Egg Fried rice and Chicken Chow Mein. They boiled the chicken in the chow mein.. I didn't like that...

Pork chops in a simple stock, add thyme and black pepper, baked in oven for 30 minutes. Eaten with a mixed green salad. It's an unusual but tasty combination.
Other times I do the chops with lots of creamy mashed potatoes, maybe with a warm baguette to mop up the gravy.

Gammon, egg, chips. Followed by cherry pie and custard. That was our easy Sunday lunch instead of a roast this week. We eat that then only a snack in the evening on Sunday.

I had lunch at the pub today.....so tonight I just baked 2 sausages in the AF... I overdid it.. I'm always a bit afraid not to cook sausages all the way through.. so I cooked these big links at 190 for 23 minutes... and the skin was like tough paper.....I'll have to cook them at lower temp next time for a couple minutes longer maybe
