Who Knew? Some Fun Facts

Gosh, I could almost smell a fresh box of Crayola crayons. How exciting that was; a new box and new coloring books!

I want them now.
Yesterday, TGS wanted to color. When I lifted the lid on our large box of Crayolas, that wonderful aroma brought me back to my own childhood. (Cheap crayons don't have the same smell or quality, doncha think?)

I hope this is not a repeat but I learned yesterday that Chinese Checkers originated in Germany in 1892. I was floored by this. I thought it was some strategic game dating back to an ancient Chinese dynasty.

"Sternhalma, commonly known as Chinese checkers (US and Canadian spelling) or Chinese chequers (UK spelling),[1] is a strategy board game of German origin that can be played by two, three, four, or six people, playing individually or with partners.[2] The game is a modern and simplified variation of the game Halma.[3]"

I used to like this as a kid. I had forgotten the rules so for nostalgia sake...

I would love to go here!
I had a feeling you'd react to this video!
We went there in the early or mid 1990s before computers and gaming destroyed kids' minds. There was a big room with tables and chairs where kids would sit and draw and color with crayons. Nobody was restless. They had bins full of crayons that kids could use. The kids were so engaged.

John Lester Nash Jr. (August 19, 1940 – October 6, 2020)[1] was an American singer, best known in the United States for his 1972 hit "I Can See Clearly Now".

Nash sang the theme song to the syndicated animated cartoon series The Mighty Hercules, which ran on various television stations from 1963 to 1966.

I absolutely love that tune. it's one of my all time favorites.

Hippos can’t swim. Hippos really do have big bones, so big and dense, in fact, that they’re barely buoyant at all. They don’t swim and instead perform a slow-motion gallop on the riverbed or on the sea floor. In fact, hippos can even sleep underwater, thanks to a built-in reflex that allows them to bob up, take a breath, and sink back down without waking.
