I honestly don't know. Am I unusual in that not only do I not know but I don't really want to know!
Gone are the days when I had interest and good knowledge of pop music of the day. Now I have not a clue. I admit I don't know anything to about Ed Sheeran either, except people seem to worship him.

Am I the only one and am I missing out on something?

She's actually very talented. I've been listening to her a lot recently. I hear the film of her recent concert tour is terrific. I like Ed Sheeran as well. He's a cutie pie and a decent songwriter. And yeah, imho, you're missing out. Music didn't stop being good in 1980. There's plenty of good stuff out there in the pop world.
 
I assumed she was another of those cable TV child stars who grew up and changed her look and got famous singing. Some aren't even dependent on autotuning!

no! she's actually quite good! Writers her own stuff, is definitely not dependent on auto tuning and is currently the most popular pop star in the country (along with the fabulous Beyoncé). I listened to her on my walk today and I'm still humming her songs.

I don't think so... I believe that accolade goes to Robbie Williams... he's had 14 .....and tbh with you..i get out a lot..I worked in showbiz.. as does my husband.//and I haven't got the foggiest what Taylor Swift looks like or sounds like.. and I have absolutely zero interest

Rose, you are not alone, I have seen the name but when a surname becomes a forename it does make it difficult to guess the gender.
Devi, you are right, it's what I do, not that I am any the wiser though. My popular music taste never got past Glenn Miller. Can you imagine a Baby-Boomer who is ignorant of the songs of The Beatles and all that 60's explosion? That was me.

LOL. Well, I'm still listening to the Stones (Rolling Stones), so ...

But I know who Taylor Swift is, along with a ton of others. I do read a lot, and sometimes check out their music. Big music fan here.
 
She’s a self-made billionaire at 34. She’s a brilliant business person and also very good boss, according to her staff. She pays them well, including medical and big bonuses. If the young gals want to admire a star, she’s the one to follow.
