I concur.I'm surprised and disappointed at how many of the remarks above refer to this woman's size rather than her inappropriate public grooming habits.
The topic is not about her size, nor is it PC or not to comment on her size, nor how she got to be that size .The topic is shaving in a public pool.
The morbidly obese woman in question has CHOSEN to look that way by eating vast amounts of high calorie foods and not getting enough exercise to keep herself fit. She has "given up".
Nobody ever looks like that because of some disease. She got that way because she has no self control. Period !
Sadly, fat shaming remains the only “respectable” prejudice. When will we mature enough as a species to replace judgement with compassion? Almost everyone you meet lives with some sort of internal pain. What does it cost to be kind? This has been an eye opener for me . I saw the "true" nature of some posters I thought were upstanding. Sad.

That's right View attachment 52671
I am so sorry you had to endure that. People can be so cruel. You're right. I'm 64 and I can still recall some of the degrading comments made to me when I was young about my weight ( and I wasn't really that big ) The comments hurt like a knife going into your heart and affect you forever. For years my self esteem was low because of people that thought it was funny to make fat jokes.
I once saw a list of activities that people were reported doing while driving a car. One of them was a guy shaving while driving on the highway. All things considered, that's even worse than what this woman was doing.
People can be very cruel and I don’t understand how and why we still try and shame people. Are we really that ignorant to believe that it somehow helps them?I am so sorry you had to endure that. People can be so cruel.![]()
Awwww traveler. You don’t know this for certain. This is just you being a meanie again. The morbidly obese woman in question has CHOSEN to look that way by eating vast amounts of high calorie foods and not getting enough exercise to keep herself fit. She has "given up".

I agree that it's disturbing that overweight people are the targets of so much hate; it's like they are the last bastion of "political incorrectness."
Perhaps not the rest of us viewing your words, feel the same way.Hate is way too strong of a word. Repulsed, is more accurate. Nauseated, certainly. Enough to ruin a guy's meal.
Thats just it though Shalimar. Unfortunately the human race isn’t very mature. :shrug:3

Verbal abuse has long lasting effects than can be more hurtful than broken bones. You're right. And YES I DO realize and understand what the thread topic is
Yes I have seen some good movies AND DO indeed have some great lasagna recipes :thankyou:Apparently not.
If this keeps up, I can think of many subjects to add to the mix.
Anyone seen any good movies lately?
How about lasagna recipes?
Mais non, my aunt, thin all her life, bicycled everywhere, suddenly started putting on weight in her fifties. A nurse, she went to the doctor, had every test known, they couldn’t discern a cause. She tried everything, and it was only by chance that it was
discovered she had developed a rare metabolic disorder which prevented her body burning calories in an appropriate fashion. At her peak, she weighed 247 pounds, it took almost two years for the medical profession and a naturopath to come up with a successful treatment option. Eventually she returned to normal. I am certain she was stared at, judged, etc quite often during her difficult time.
I gain weight easily myself, I do fast form T’ai Chi for an hour five times a week, walk and swim regularly, and I eat approx one and half meals a day. It is still a struggle to remain slim. I eat about half as much as my peers. My BMI sits at 22.3 hardly spindly.
Priceless!!!!
Grouchy people?I detect some grouchy people here in Mayberry. Maybe we need to huddle and sing Kumbya?
