Little things which irritate which probably shouldn't

That's probably better than licking your fingers after they've held onto the shopping cart handle, though. Produce is usually a long walk to the far side of the store, right?
it's the opposite in the UK... fruit & veg is almost always the first aisle as you walk through the door of our supermarkets.. so after disinfecting hands and trolley handle at the door, fruit & veg is the first to be encountered.. :)

Grocery markets here usually set up the produce well away from the entry and exit doors, and heavily trafficked areas in general if they have the space, because the produce sits exposed. Some Walmart stores are an exception. They place the produce section off to one side but not as far from an entryway as smaller supermarkets do. Still, there's a recommended distance between doors and produce.

Every supermarket style store around where I live has the first aisle produce. Those buildings would have been purpose built. Some of the smaller stores left over from when neighborhood groceries were the rule, have produce located elsewhere. Never thought about if it was a regional thing.

Interesting. Here, where there is a recommendation to set up produce a certain distance from entryways, no one has a problem buying produce at open markets and we have shops that sell only produce and obviously don't observe any recommendation for distances from doors. It is a standard recommendation (a reasonable one, imo) but not a regulation, mandate, or law.

There's another thing that annoys me but I couldn't possibly explain why: when people don't lock their car doors as they exit but, instead, must walk 20ft then turn around and use the remote to lock their doors, resulting in the loud honk or chirping sound  I suppose it may bring me back to the days when only luxury cars had this technology so, it was assumed, those who drove them wanted to draw attention to the car.

Similar to this, those people who set off their car alarm because they can’t remember where they parked.

Dirt. Can't stand the stuff and it is everywhere. Clean it up and it's back. Drives me nuts. If you have indoor/outdoor pets you'll know what I mean. Also some cats enjoy smelling bad. Clean them up and they come in smelling bad again. Never noticed that before because I had humans around who exuded odors. Now that they are gone the cats have taken over, but number one on my irritation list is the current canned cat food shortage. Yes local Wal Mart shelves are bare. I am trying to stay calm but these are trying times.

Echo a lot of what's been said already:
1. Packaging that's very difficult to open
2. Produce bags that are difficult to open. I sometimes use moisture from the produce dept's sprinklers, but my favorite produce store doesn't have those. I'll try @Pinky's trick there. If I conjure a genie I definitely won't waste a wish on opening a bag though, @Murrmurr!
3. People who incessantly whine about younger generations' flaws. (As if our elders thought we were so perfect - and we weren't offended by their generalizations and judgments!)
4. Freezing cold grocery stores. I always wear a sweater if I'm planning shop for more than 15 minutes, even when it's 100° outside.
5. Men whose aim or splash control is less than perfect and who don't clean up after themselves. (Men in my family were taught to sit when using a home toilet.)

Surprised that nobody mentioned this yet.
I can't stand to hear people snap their chewing gum. Some can snap it quite loudly, too. It is so rude and disgusting.
Yes!

Good mention, Ruby.

In school I used to get irritated when someone in class would click their pen top repeatedly.

Oh, people who walk their dogs and refuse to pick up after them.
Or people who let their dog run off leash and act surprised when it barks at someone and rushes at the person.
I walk a trail where this happens often.
