Things you enjoy that most people don't?

Are you seeing tangible benefits from your ginger root consumption?
It is hard to say. Ginger is supposed to be one of the best natural anti-inflammatory. But I also consume a lot of spices such as tumeric and curry and eat a largely vegetarian diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Clearly, all of this has reduced my use of ibuprofen to almost nothing where as before I was taking it almost daily for back pains. So I don't think I can attribute all of the effect to ginger alone.

But I like the ginger as well to add a zing in my oatmeal and juice.

Oh, and a side note about tinnitus. For me anyway, excessive use of anti-inflammatory drugs, especially Aleve, gave me tinnitus. Years back when I had a car accident, I was taking these quite a bit and then had very bothersome ringing in my ears. I no longer take Aleve at all.

I have the same. In both ears, but sometimes, the right ear is very quiet compared to the left ear. The left ear is constant. My left ear is either really loud, or kind of low keyed. Whoever finds a cure for this disease will be an instant multi billionaire.

I have been to more ENT's than I can count. They all tell me the same thing. To save my money on home remedies and ads you see on TV or in magazines. There is NO cure. I was even at Walter Reed years ago (I spend 2 days there doing testing) and Johns Hopkins Hospital for treatment. There is nothing they can do. BUT, Supposedly the NIH is experimenting on a cure, which entails the neurologist doing something with the wires in the brain. Check it out on the internet. I am sure you will find something about it.

If you know of a cure, please advise at once. Thank you.
I'm also a tinnitis sufferer. (Constant high pitched electronic whining) But I'm not sure I'd want a neurologist fiddling around in my brain, rewiring things. Too scary. If I was on the brink of a psychotic break because of the noise though, I might consider it! 😱

I could almost become a vegetarian, but I gotta have some chicken and occasional fish. Getting away from NSAIDs will likely save your life, I have a couple different back pains and used to take alot of ibuprofen, but the increased risk of heart attack and stroke finally caught my attention.
I do gentle movement(Taichi, Yoga) which help alleviate my pain.

Since I've aged and accepted my introvertness I enjoy my alone time much more than I expected too.
Of course these 2 hooligans are usually up to something but as the sign says" cats can purr their way out of anything"😸
Happy Labor Day,folks

A tinnitus cure would be huge , I would gladly contribute to making of the billionaire. I tested with a V.A. audiologist, they gave me a 10% disability for hearing loss. Part of the test revealed some kind of bone damage. If I find anything about the NIH's research I'll surely report back here.
I would also gladly donate. When I was at JH, the Neurologist told me that when or if a cure is ever discovered, it will more than likely involve some type of brain surgery. He didn’t see how any type of medicinal substance would be able to correct it. As of that time, which was about 12 years ago, he said that the problem lies within the cluster of sensory nerves, but trying to single out which nerve and what will be required to repair it will be the cure. He said just imagine that each nerve is smaller than a piece of sewing thread in your wife’s sewing box and having to attach electrodes to each one until the correct nerve is found. He further explained that the nerves aren’t color coded like they are in a text book, so each tiny nerve has to be identified and independently tested. He told me that he has had patients that had tinnitus so loud they wanted the surgeon to just cut all the nerves so the noise would stop. No doctor would be willing to do that.

I did find this: https://newsinhealth.nih.gov/2011/02/tinnitus-cure-may-lie-brain

Interesting!
From the article:
The researchers used vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), a technique known to release chemicals that encourage changes in the brain. They paired it with the playing of different tones other than the tinnitus frequency. This technique, the scientists reasoned, might induce brain cells to tune to frequencies other than the tinnitus one.

The researchers played various tones during VNS to noise-exposed rats with tinnitus 300 times a day for about 3 weeks. Both the rats’ behavior and brain activity tests showed that their tinnitus had disappeared.
If this can end up being a viable treatment I hope it can be available real soon, 10 or 15 years down the road might be too late.[EDIT] for me.

This is even stranger.
I have to be near a river or a creek as often as I can. Something is pulling me there.
Can't explain it.
I don't think this is strange at all. I crave being around water, even though I haven't in ages. I don't know if it's the drought or what.

I watch the Charlevoix live bridge cam and the water and boats just make me want to be there.

i too am an introvert and i don't mind being left alone. i actually find it to be very pleasing and peaceful.
i enjoy video games as well. not sure how many my age or older do.
i know a lot of people who don't like reading. i like to read sometimes.
i kinda like making lists. lol!

One thing I believe everyone enjoys but is afraid to mention is.....a good poop! A good poop is like a yoga class, so freeing and relaxing, such a pleasant way to end my day. I call it TM (toliet meditation)

Be honest, who doesn't like a good poop?

Namiste pooper pals, namaste.
Amen, brother of the throne!

Presently, there's no one I know who enjoys animation as much as I do. Most people think of it as "just cartoons," but good animation is so much more. Some of them are true works of art. There are many types of animation, but I'm particularly fond of old-school animation with genuine artwork where each frame is drawn by hand and stop motion animation (it's come a long way since Gumby), but some CG animation is also very good, and all can be fantastic. And it's not just the artwork, it's also the storylines. Surprisingly, they aren't just amusing but can also be sensitive, thought-provoking and memorable. There are often very powerful messages in "cartoons." I also like original short films. In fact, I'm going to start a thread. Maybe there are a few people who'd enjoy seeing what I'm talking about.
Watching cartoons.
 Have I found a kindred spirit? 🤔😊

High speed interstate driving. There is a certain feeling of freedom when zipping along at 80 mph or more. Haven't been stopped yet but I'm sure my luck will run out someday.
Not to worry - at least around here (California, North of San Francisco). Freeway congestion can at times be murderous, but near as I can tell the Highway Patrol no longer enforces speed limits. We've got plenty of signs and dire warnings, but that's about it.

Sleeping on hard surfaces, like a floor, with no pillow, or OUTSIDE, under the stars.

I am, or was, a decoy collector. Last century we had a famous decoy carver here abouts. Name was Richard Janson, but people called him Fresh Air Dick. As a merchant seaman he always slept on deck under the stars. Maybe you're related? How does Fresh Air Gaer sound? (-8
