Rant Thread-Tell 'em off Thread

Yeah, what's with that? A boyfriend would be screaming at me to get out, get out, you have an hour to get your stuff out of here! So, even if I'd just had major surgery or the bus stop was many miles away, and I had to leave everything behind, I left.

Then I'd hear from them a year later, and they'd say, "I miss you. Why did you leave?"

???
Ain't love wonderful?

I'm going to rant about people who write using abbreviations. Here's a news flash; many of us have no idea what many of the abbreviations stand for. There are just so many anymore its like deciphering coded messages, and not knowing the key.

So here's me asking for a favor. At the beginning of what you're writing spell it out the first time, then you can start using the abbreviations.

Dimn people like me appreciate you're understanding.

Do not like how the endless growth, development, overpopulation, wealth seeking, Wallstreet corporations along with their puppet politicians are destroying our precious blue water planet with its incredible life, thus often voice such herein.

Being on this forum forces me to address with relative calm, a few negative worldly things publicly in some depth. Otherwise what most often is likely to emotionally annoy me weekly are the many impatient, aggressive, and or inconsiderate pinheads driving highways and freeways. And especially dislike the many people with littering trashing pig behaviors that one just tends to see the roadside result of.

As long as we're ranting, one of my pet peeves on this forum is people who don't provide even a rough idea of where they live, then post about their weather, government policies, local food and fuel prices, and so forth.

Do you really think we're going to track you down for nefarious reasons if you list your location as North Dakota, England, Western Canada, Iceland, Missouri, etc?

Why is that so important?

I think it's fun. I'll be having a 40 below zero day, snow everywhere, and someone will moan about how hot it is!

But yes, somehow I do think that if I name my rinky-dink town, or give too many clues, someone will show up here and bother me. Which is kind of strange, because you are all welcome to drop by any time. (PM first.)

If you look out of your window you’ll see a man wearing a red scarf and blue woolen hat sitting on a folding chair with a portable heater near his knees. I've been waiting there nearly 3 days for you to come out so I can fake a, ”Oh! Do you live here?”

I have no objection to someone pinpointing their location right down to the street where they live. When I joined Senior Forums, I stated that I live on the east coast of the USA, so that's not a secret, and here it is again for those who might be curious and missed my intro post. That's as detailed as I'm ever going to get. While I don't mind sharing a more specific location with a few trusted friends, I'm not about to share it on a public forum that anyone can read. In general, I think most people are okay, but you never know who might seek to harm you. I'm not willing to take that chance.

In what arrondissement? I used to hang out in the Quartier Latin (in the mid-1970s) back when you could spend the night for free on a bedbug-ridden sofa at Shakespeare & Co. when George was still alive. His daughter runs it now. Or at least she did the last time I was there. I also stayed with a friend once on Rue Lepìc behind Moulin Rouge. I don't like big cities but you can always find a quarter that suits you in Paris. I would have loved to have known Paris in the 1950s but I was much too young then.
Cher Monsieur, félicitations, j'ai visité Paris depuis 1970, habitée a 5ème 6eme 7ème.

depuis 2016, j'habite 6eme près de St Sulpice,

Of course, one must be careful of the pickpockets on transport, , flea markets, rough areas, but most areas I visit still safe even at night. Worst hazard to seniors nowadays : scooters, traffic, streetworks, huge tourist busses, loud, rude and infections tourists.

Bon Soirée

Nefarious? Who knows…you have two wands and super powers…you can get up to anything.
Anyway, I trust you so my address is :
221b Baker Street/Marylebone, London W1

We’ve had (alt. are having) a spate of the vilest crimes imaginable. Young boys are being accosted by Arab/Somali groups. The victim is forced to undress and lie on the ground where he is slandered and beaten. Then he is forced to open his mouth while the assailents urinate. Occasionally, the victim is also sodomized. It’s been a few months since the last reported case but it is openly admitted (with pride!) that the media is compelled to suppress such reports so as not to lend support to the political parties on the “right”.

You may be asking yourself what those people are doing in my country in the first place. I can tell you if you’d like to know, but the question is, am I “telling off” the criminals or the ruling government? What do you suggest?
Definitely the government. Brutes are brutes...in a decent society, they would not be free to act on their primitive instincts. The same thing is happening in Britain and for the same reason. God forbid that anyone in authority is accused of racism! However, enough is enough...and this sort of leniency will bring down a government and the end of Liberalism, which clearly does not work.

Well, obviously, I must rant about my life long petpeave of perfectly healthy people leaving their shopping carts in the parking lot when there's a caddy ten feet away.
I know Ill get the "gives people a job" and I know sometimes someone is disabled but most of the time it comes down to laziness.
I put them in the category of people who litter and don't pick up after their dog.
So, there you go, thanks for the rant. 🐵

This has not only angered me it's sickened me to my stomach...

In today's papers...

Students at a prestigious university dubbed 'Oxbridge for farmers' strapped a dead fox to the roof of a car during a charity rally, MailOnline can reveal.

A photo from the fundraising event at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) in Cirencester, Gloucestershire shows the lifeless animal sprawled on the vehicle's roof with each of its legs secured by blue rope.

The students' union stunt appeared to spark amusement among onlookers yesterday, with two spectators apparently laughing as the car passed by them and a caption on the social media photo reading 'does it get anymore Ciren'.

Founded in 1845 as the first agricultural university in the English speaking world, the RAU recently ranked among the top ten universities in the country for student experience

But its 'Hooray Henry' students have also gained a reputation for rowdy behaviour and a heavy drinking culture.

Referring to yesterday's incident, a source told MailOnline: 'Given it's a university with the motto ''caring for the fields and the beasts'', it's a fairly clear (if not shocking) breach of their supposed ethos.

'The RAU is full of entitled old fogeys who are resistant to any sort of change - most are so rich they think they can get away with anything.'

The university said it condemned the students' behaviour and had contacted Gloucestershire Constabulary for help identifying the perpetrators.

However, it is unclear whether any crime could have been committed.

Wild foxes are considered vermin, so while it is against the law to hunt them with dogs it is not illegal to shoot them humanely with a registered firearm.

I think you're being wise... we have to remember that while any of our forum pals may be welcome, there are a LOT of "guests" reading us at any given time. Okay, let me confirm that. I just checked... it's 7 a.m. eastern time ... even at this time, there are 26 members online here, and 203 guests. 🤔

I say this all the time.. it's not who we know it's those we don't know. However giving a location of a country, a city or even a large town.. is pretty safe... No need for specifics
