School shooting in Nashville!!

Did anyone else watch the video looking at the interior of the school? To me it looked like a lovely, well run school where the children could have their lessons in pleasant settings.

From now on the rooms will be places of apprehension and fear. For the survivors the trauma will still be with them long after they have their own children.

Funny - Some people play back the same, tired recording of "This gun should be banned...." "Only the military should have this gun....."
But no one ever replies to post #345. I just can't figure out why........... :giggle:
Personally, a shotgun is way better for home defense. The shots travel less and dissipate quicker so you may fire 30 rounds, from a rifle, but end up injuring your neighbor.

But a rifle can hold 30 rounds and with multiple invaders your chances of surviving are better.

I know that, and since they don't need them there is no need to have them at all, especially not in the hands of anyone who fancies themselves as amateur law enforcement.
I doubt very much gun owners consider themselves as anything regarding law enforcement. You're just going out on a limb till it breaks it seems.

Some people just post White Supremacist propaganda videos promoting AR-15s. I just can't figure out why.... :giggle:

Commas were used far differently 200 years ago than they are now. Just look at comma placement in the Declaration of Independence for more evidence. Our Founders would never pass a present day English class the way they wrote.

I started reading Scalia's Opinion and hardly any of it is based on any facts; most of it is pure conjecture. Scalia was a hack.

Another negative about a shotgun, besides limited capacity: Slow reload.

Check out these home-invasions with multiple thugs. Note how many rounds were fired. And note that the homeowner survived.
Do tell us what other weapon would suffice:
Ruger Mini 14 will do the same thing yet never mentioned. WHEN I was involved in a Failed car Jacking only 2 shots were fired by me it stopped the crime but the distance was only 9" WITH a 45 ACP CAL. 1911. After dad and myself suffering stab wounds to our face and body.

I have been shooting AR 15 type firearms since the early 1970's in competition and still do so. 2 and 3 gun matches are my favorite to shoot.

News outlets need to stop turning the shooter or shooters into celebrities. They talk more about the shooter and their family than they do the victims. It would be nice to learn a little about who the victims were and their families and what their goals in life were. If they want to fill air time, use it to talk about the real victims.T
They are mass murderers not just 'shooters'. Every time they are mentioned or talked about the term murderer, killer, coward, wacko need to be attached to their name. Name them but describe them because they are mass murderers, cowards, killers along with being 'the shooter'.

Continued use of the word 'shooter' makes them seem like a video character not the cowardly killers they are. This cowardly killer Audrey Hale is from the video game generation as many these mass murders who chose to shoot unarmed people in a school. They want infamy, that is their blaze of glory, they are attention seeking and more important a cowardly pos killer like Audry Hale.

D outside of 1-2 models very few shotguns hold that many rounds unless a mag extension is fitted which normally restricts movement and reliability the models I mentioned are never used in competition due to reliability issues, go with what is known to work well. I have seen some Siaga brands with stupid looking extended magazines normally they are ammo and reliability sensitive a lot. Jam o matics.

So three teenagers break in, one with a knife and two with brass knuckles, and you're sure nothing less than an AR-15 would have stopped them? I expect one shot in the air with a handgun would have sent all three running. In the unlikely event that they kept on advancing, the handgun should have done the trick.

This morning at about 11 AM, I received an alert on my phone, informing me that all the schools and the 3 universities were on lockdown as a precaution at this time. No further information other than to limit 911 calls for extreme emergencies only. Well, that was enlightening, I must say. I walked out of my apartment and ran into my pharmacist, who I asked if he knew what was going on. He told me that he'd hear there had been a shooting at St. Elizabeth's College, just 2 blocks away. I wasted no time getting back into my apartment.

Since I had an appointment to have a Cat Scan and an Ultra Sound in a couple of hours just 4 blocks beyond this alleged incident, I quickly found a local news site covering the event.

It seems there was no shooting anywhere, but a man seen acting suspiciously on St. E's campus, all hell broke loose. I still do not know what his suspicious actions were, but the response was the correct one, given what is occurring all too
often in our society these days.

Roads were blocked off, trains were halted, and people told to use utmost precaution if outdoors. Helicopters were scouring the entire area.

We were permitted to proceed to my imaging building, but had to be escorted in.

There is still no all clear, but local schools except for 2 universities are no longer in lock down.

What a terrible world we have come to.

I think most of them are suicidal and want to cause as much death and destruction as possible on their way out of this world, and like you said, go out in a "blaze of glory."

Good thing the kid protecting his home didn't have a flame thrower handy. He would have burned down his house to stop the home invaders.

That said, I'm all for the right to protect yourself and your home. People don't need a high-powered, high-capacity, semi-automatic rifle to do that, though.

The word “shooters” comes from being in the military for 30 years. If your an infantryman, you’re a shooter, grunt, or GI Joe. If you are in the Calvary, you’re a tank man, or sometimes called hunters or killers, or a if your an aviator in an air wing, your a fly boy or a birdman. Get my drift? Sometimes these semantics drive me crazy.

I will try to be more specific in the future.

I get why they use the term. Media/social media wind up score keeping rather than reporting and/or adding information.

The media/social media seems to forget what the mass murderers actually did and wind up playing score keeper. Must take the allure off these mass killings ie do more than report the score.

Doubt away but I seem to remember an instance where two men decided that a black man jogging through their neighbourhood was up to no good and he ended up dead after being shot in the back.

Obviously, you are desperate to demonize a gun you don't like. A good guy is entitled to ALL the edge he can get, since he's already at a disadvantage by being outnumbered. And he's not the criminal.
The three dirt bags (and the woman getaway driver) are not entitled to anything, except being at room temperature.
And I don't care what type of weapons home invasion robbers are armed with - or whether they're armed or not. By breaking into an occupied dwelling, they have already put me & my loved ones in danger & I wouldn't be foolish enough to ask what their intentions were. I also would not be at the mercy of a group of thugs.
You may be interested in the female getaway driver's statement in the robbery: She doesn't blame the homeowner for killing her 3 friends.
