What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

I am getting desperate for something more appealing to watch but it seems most movies nowadays are about darker subjects. I started to watch a Harry Potter movie again last night, from sheer desperation. Tried Rom-Coms the other day and got myself a stinker, so that soured me on that genre for now!
Tom Selleck did a series of "Jesse Stone" movies that are excellent. Selleck plays a divorced, aloholic, chief of police in a small town named "Paradise." Try one and I'm certain you'll watch the whole series. We watched all of them and honestly, I wish there were more. In order:
Jesse Stone: Night Passage (2006)
Jesse Stone: Stone Cold (2005)
Jesse Stone: Death in Paradise (2006)
Jesse Stone: Sea Change (2007)
Jesse Stone: Thin Ice (2009)
Jesse Stone: No Remorse (2010)
Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost (2011)
Jesse Stone: Benefit of the Doubt (2012)
Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise (2015)

Ah, we think alike, @Rich! I watched them all and loved them! At present I am reading all the Spenser books again by the same author and when I'm done I'll switch to Jesse Stone!

One Nation on Netflix. Clash between the Left and Pro Hitler young people in Poland. It's disturbing at times but a pretty good movie.

From Mike Judge, one of the creative minds behind Beavis and Butt-Head, King of the Hill, and Office Space, comes an outrageous sci-fi comedy that'll make you think twice about the future of mankind. Meet Joe Bowers (Luke Wilson). He's not the sharpest tool in the shed. But when a government hibernation experiment goes awry, Bowers awakens in the year 2505 to find a society so dumbed-down by mass commercialism and mindless TV programming that he's become the smartest guy on the planet. Now it's up to an average Joe to get human evolution back on track! Filled with razor-sharp sarcasm and outrageous sight gags, Idiocracy will make you laugh out loud whether you're an absolute genius or a complete idiot! Click on the movie if you have a Youtube account. (over 18)

Well, I've watched half of a movie that Netflix has definitely out-done itself on the weirdness factor. I'll attempt to finish it this afternoon. It's called "El Conde" and proposes that the former Chilean dictator Pinochet was a 250-year-old vampire, who is now living in exile in a crumbling estate in the Chilean outback with his bitter (but NOT bitten) wife and his Russian vampire valet. He's tired and wants to die but can't. He's trying to die by not drinking blood but his wife is secretly spiking his food with pureed human hearts.

Through some convoluted plot, his five children show up to make sure their inheritance is still there and send for an exorcist nun to do something to their dear old, old, old dad.

That's how far I've gotten. It's in black-and-white and, of course, is dubbed....

There's a lot of narration and the narrator is....get ready for this....MARGARET THATCHER. I understand that she is going to show up later in the movie as his long-lost mother, who is, of course, also a vampire.

As I said, molto weirdo, but it's a change from "The Queen's Gambit", which I was bingeing the last couple of days. Competitive chess is blood-thirsty in own way, I've learned.

One of my favorites and considering it was made in 2006 it's been scarily prophetic. :D

Harrison Bergeron Movie or 2081 ( free - rated 7.2 )

Harrison Bergeron' is the story of a society that is trying to ensure that all its citizens are completely equal. Although this seems like a good goal, Vonnegut shows that this is impossible to achieve. It is a warning to all of us to maintain our free will and not give the government too much control.

Not many new movies have caught my eye.
If I'm not watching an older movie from my collection, I'm on Curiosity Stream watching
one of the 1,000's of documentaries they offer.
We have had it for a couple of years and still enjoy the content.
Price seems reasonable for what we get.

The series Stranger Things on Netflix. It plays kinda like Stephen King meets The X-Files meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Begin with Season 1, Episode 1 or it will be incomprehensible. At first you‘ll think you’re watching a kid’s show as the cast are mostly pre-teens at that point. Be patient and expect a learning curve, but you’ll be rewarded with a great science fiction/horror experience set in a sleepy town in the 1980’s where monsters cross over from an alternative dimension, the government is conducting secret unethical experiments, and the Russians have a secret base under a shopping mall. Our fate may reside in the hands of a human lab rat girl with awesome psychic powers…truly wild stuff!
