Today was a lovely walk. It was 16 degrees and a mixture of sun and cloud. At the start of our walk , we saw this huge catamaran.
We think it might be from Europe.

Our walk was 3 kilometres.

The boat in the water is lovely but I really appreciate nice sky scapes like the first few.

Haven’t been online a lot for a few days so just now getting caught up.

Today we walked through a subdivision but most of the lots are vacant. It’s a subdivision that isn’t cared for by the municipality.
We walked 4.5 kilometres and saw 8 dear.
Fives doe’s , two fawns and one buck. The buck was with a family. He had a wife and 2 kids. lol

Today was a beautiful sunny day with a high of 28 so we went for a bike ride. We decided to go up further on the trail to places we haven’t been before. We biked 30 kilometres in total and every bit was fabulous.

My bike has a metal basket in the front and cargo rack at the back. Our picnic lunch was in the back rack and my phone and drink were in the front. Today I stopped at the dollar store to purchase a plastic liner for the front basket so stuff doesn’t fall through but found this adorable , oval , material kitty cat basket instead. It was the perfect thing for putting my phone in. Isn’t it the cutest? It fits perfectly.

We passed at least 3 horse stables so I took pictures of the horses. It’s obvious the horses are ridden on the trails. Thankfully their waste is shovelled to the side.

IMG_5932.jpeg
There were many wooden bridges to cross like this one.
IMG_5952.jpeg
We talked about coming here in the autumn when all the leaves start changing colours.

Later on we passed a rusty trail trussel bridge with an eagle sitting right on top. Unfortunately we scared him away so I didn’t get a photo.

IMG_5958.jpeg

We passed a place along the way that rented e bikes as well as doggie trailers for those who want to take their dogs.

There was a river right by the track with tea coloured water. It was so peaceful. It will definitely stand out more when the leaves change colours but I’ll try and give you a glimpse of it.

The rock formation from the cliffs was very interesting too. IMG_5962.jpeg
And lastly on the way home I spotted an attractive church so took a photo. It had a lovely statue as well. I’ve got this thing for churches. A soft spot, one might say.

And lastly, I fell again. Just as my last bruises started fading I fell again. My man started telling the dogs that he’s going to get me a set of training wheels. 😂 He says now the dogs are so glad they are on the back with him. I couldn’t help but laugh.

Today wasn’t a nice walk. I’m depressed already and getting struck with Seasonal Effective Disorder. I’ve got a sun lamp but never used it. I was told you should keep your eyes open but not look directly at the light.
If anyone uses one, can you offer some assistance?
Have you ever tried making / comsuming your own milk kefir @PeppermintPatty I've read up on allot of the benefits of looking after our second “ brain” ….being our…Gut …

I got into it after suffering horrendous pain from Diverticulosis attacks
since I’ve been consuming kefir I’ve not had one single attack …..but I swear by home made in preference to shop bought ( milk kefir ) not keen on the water variety ….
I believe the shop milk kefir is made with a powdered form of probiotic ..rather then the fermented type I make

Read this woman’s story ( she owns the site )
I’ve got 3 books she published ….i make a few cultured foods in summer but generally not in winter

and how cultured foods changed her moods / depression

Small world. We started a sourdough starter 3 days ago. It is fun to watch it grow. I hope this will improve our microbiomes. I have chronic GERD, and we hoping this will help. What do you think, is this a good idea. I googled it, and the answer seemed like there is a good possibility it will?

Do as I did ..read up on it …look at the link I posted about Donna’s site you can search for topics relating to your Heath issues
she has podcasts and plenty of free info
Her summery probiotic salads are delicious , if you ever decide to try making milk kefir ….buy ….the real live kefir grains …they double up,( grow) and any excess can be stored in the freezer ( in milk ) …i got mine on gumtree ….
( I’m Aussie ) …its a free site …most likely like .what’s it called …..US ….site …..you only have to buy ONCE ….and you’ve got them for life ….
I didn’t even buy mine I was given it ….prob 10 years ago ..oh and there’s 100’s youtube videos on the subject …

If you ever decide to try …

Never use any metal utensils or containers to make / strain / freeze kefir ..I use nothing but ball mason jars / plastic lids

Kefir is an acquired taste, however I do a second ferment ( meaning straining after it’s fermented ) …..

THEN …. adding fruit of your choice ……..to do second ferment.

I add 2 slices of fresh orange and it makes the MK sorta… tangy / fizzy however I do add frozen berries sometimes ….raspberries are the nicest …and you can add sweeteners to taste …after it’s been strained …but I don’t …

I bought a kefir mother at the health food store but didn’t known what to do with it so eventually threw it out. I’d love to make kefir again. I DO believe it would really help you @Peco Dennis. It’s recommended for healing the stomach. Hopefully my husband will get into it too. Where do you suggest we purchase our Kefir from @Kadee? I’m excited about this. I think it’s something that we could use for our internal health.

We’ve almost finished riding the trail we’ve been on. It’s 90 km in total and we ride approximately 30 kilometres there and back. We were 3 kilometres from the end yesterday. If we would have known that, we would have gone to the end but we didn’t know. In a few weeks the leaves will start changing colour. That will be a great time to ride the trail.

Now we are looking for other trails to go on

Can you elaborate on the starter kambusha?
I know Costco sells a kambusha. I’m pretty sure I got some and think it got all mouldy.
I signed up? What questions should I be asking? Where does Donna live? Is she in Australia?

Not sure why posts on this thread are not showing up in alerts. They always used to. But I'm glad I looked it up. Nice photos @PeppermintPatty but like Hawk and others have said, please no more falling. I'm intrigued by electric bikes but for that very reason I don't ride bikes now. It has been too long and my coordination and balance aren't as foolproof as they used to be.

I needed a couple of old photos for a letter I was writing yesterday and in my search for those I found some nicer photos than I get these days. For one thing I used to do more ambitious hikes and for another I used to get up at the a**crack of dawn to beat traffic and morning light if my favorite. Here are a few from that search taken at Fort Funston beach in San Francisco.

Smokey waiting for me along the steep path down to a lower level. This one was taken in the afternoon.

The sun hasn't quite cleared the higher cliffs in the shot along an intermediate level.

Very early morning along the beach.

The vertical rock along the skyline has fallen recently in big storms which have greatly eroded the cliffs too.
