WOW impressive senate races, and an impressive governor race. Remember others are in the race as well

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I may have heard before that in other countries that a party wins, then those representatives vote for one to lead. This USA election, no common voter voted for the vice president to be on the ballot. It was all party officials deal making.
You are correct Lawrence.

In the Westminster system the people elect their local member, not necessarily by the same method in every commonwealth country based on Westminster. In UK the members are elected by first past the post, or simple majority. In Australia we have a preferential system of voting. New Zealand uses another system based on the principle of mixed-member proportional (MMP). I don't know what the situation is in Canada.

No matter which system is used, the government will be the party or coalition that has the numbers to pass legislation. The party that is in government meets to select the Prime Minister, who then chooses his cabinet ministers. The PM and ministers are sworn in by the King's representative, who has almost no powers that are not purely ceremonial.

1. Looks like the U.S. will be living under Project 2025 (900+ pages) that’s nine hundred plus pages, Which was completed months ago.

2. How P-2025 affects social security retirement benefits.

QUOTE:
”And one of the top targets of the people behind the plan is Social Security.

Project 2025 authors have endorsed and supported plans to cut Social Security by raising the retirement age, and their ideas can be found in the two most recent budget proposals put forth by conservative U.S. House Republicans – both of which sought to increase the Social Security retirement age from 67 to 69.”

3. I’m sure someone will find a way to debunk these links or take them out of context and re-interpret.

Let the U.S. folks not forget WE have paid into Social Security since the first day we hd to fill out a W-2; 16 for me. I for one am glad I am 77 and don’t have too many years left to lose my freedoms———

Well, then maybe we can get something done.
Yes, things will change now. It has been very inactive the past few years. Now policies will slip right on through. Some very controversial matters. There could be some protests, almost expected. Things will probably heat up. It has been quite here on the SF for a while. I wonder how we will handle these impactful decisions. How can we possibly keep politics out of our everyday lives? I know there is plenty to do besides talk about that stuff, but so much of our lives are determined by these political decisions. I know it is hard, but I still am in favor of keeping this forum an "apolitical" forum. :)
