we're used to those in this country..very used to them sadly..ever since the IRA and they're continual terrorist attacks in the 70's and 80's...Some sources say what is more likely to occur than a war are terrorist attacks within the United States.
My boyfriend, in Suffolk, is struggling with that too, right now. It was 28C/84F in his apartment about an hour ago and he's trying to sleep. The heat is weighing on my mind ... so warm.. it's cooler than yesterday , but right now at 1.30am, I can't sleep because it's very hot in my house... 85 deg .. even with the fans on there's hardly any cooling...
precisely that..it's horrible... again tho' better than last night, but still not cool enough to sleep.... I put the tower oscilating fan on hgh speed in my bedroom last night for 2 hours door closed, and when I went in there there was absolutely no difference in the temperature..My boyfriend, in Suffolk, is struggling with that too, right now. It was 28C/84F in his apartment about an hour ago and he's trying to sleep.![]()
I'm feeling for you guys.
Hi Seadoug. Geez I'm an old fart but I grew up w/o air conditioning and to this day still don't have air conditioning. I'll just sit right in front of a fan to try to breathe on a 96-degree day. Anyways since you seem to know a lot (and I commend you for that), are Canadians still having problems with extreme fires? I saw a few months back the Minnesota area had to evacuate due to extreme smoke going into their area from Canada. My friend in Seattle has been having the same issue for several years. Very few homes in Seattle have A/C and thanks to global warming their summers have been getting extremely hot. She had to sleep on her front porch a few years ago because it was too hot inside her house. It was above 100 degrees!
Another of my friends there just had her house remodeled. Her husband said they decided to install A/C because a couple of years ago they had to stay in the house and keep the windows closed due to the smoke from the fires in Western Canada.
I've seen the temps in the Northeast and Midwest this weekend and they are unbearable. Very few good choices to live these days when it comes to extreme climate.
How about a bomb spree? So cute! Not.What is weighing on my mind these days is the frequency of political violence that is happening. Not getting political because over the years it has happened on both sides. There is always some crazy that feels betrayed by the system and feels the need to go on a shooting spree.![]()
You are a stronger person than I am! But then I've only lived in Florida and Texas so A/C is a way of life.Hi Seadoug. If so, I feel so, so bad for the folks enduring that and just the same for the animals for whom might be affected. Here? It's always about California fires but in my gut, I feel punks are lighting them on purpose. Sickening as they don't even think about the consequences. Please let me know about the Canadian folks and wildlife as well. Concerning.
See I was the same I grew up with no AC,,never even had a fan... and for all my adult life I've had no AC in this house.... because until 5 years ago we never had these extreme temperatures on a regular basis...despte being in the south..My friend in Seattle has been having the same issue for several years. Very few homes in Seattle have A/C and thanks to global warming their summers have been getting extremely hot. You're so nice. Thank you! But this year in '25, are the folks and animals in Canada okay with all of their wildfires going on? Just very concerned. You are a stronger person than I am! But then I've only lived in Florida and Texas so A/C is a way of life.
Thanks for the compliment, and to answer your question Canada's worst wildfire season was in 2023, although 2024 was also bad and 2025 is producing smoke that is impacting the Midwest (as you mentioned) and the Northeast.
Paulina with all due respect to my friend SeaDoug who lives in Texas you might be better off asking one of our Canadian membersYou're so nice. Thank you! But this year in '25, are the folks and animals in Canada okay with all of their wildfires going on? Just very concerned.
you're very welcome.. any time...let me give a shout out for you..to some of our Canadian members who when they see their names will come and help....if they canWell, that sounds smart. We have Canadian members on here? I guess I haven't met them yet. Oh, thanks for the past advice you've given me. So, so very much appreciated!
I'm afraid of both.I’m more afraid of a Civil War rather than a nuclear war.
People are at each other’s throats. It’s horrible.
That’s what’s been on my mind.
