Weird Dream, ideas/interpretations welcome

So very well stated, Dennis.

I've preached the same thing about martial arts training - that at a certain level the body takes over before the mind can even grasp what is going on.

The big problem is that, as you stated, they are learned reflexes - it takes time.

Agreed, there are learned reflexes which we instill in ourselves, but there are instincts with which we are born. A bird called the godwit migrates from Alaska to New Zealand following sparsely placed islands in a vast ocean. That knowledge is in its DNA, or chromosomes – knowledge at a molecular level. We humans are complex beings and much of what goes on is beyond surface awareness. I remember reading somewhere that a study was made of people with hidden illnesses that found expression in dreams – nothing very conclusive, but none the less ….. Denise's hippo is some sort of burden. It could be emotional. Take me, for example: I am usually the last one to know how I feel about things. Her hippo could be something physical. If I had that dream, I would, of course, have a bit of fun with it, but in the end, I would stop and take stock. :hypnotysed:

You're a much more logical man than I - I would have just jumped on the hippo's back and rode him like a bronco buster! :D

And you would probably be better off for it! Ya-all will need to excuse me as I am in a bit of a sober mood these days. :eek:hwell:

For as long as I can remember, and I can remember right back to being in the maternity hospital after my birth, I have had this memory, which can only have been a weird dream.

I was an angel :D up in heaven when I was told by the deity, who was a white light, it was my turn to go to Earth and do my bit there! I protested that I wasn't keen to leave heaven, but to no avail, I ended up down here. That is probably why I screamed for the first three months of my life!

That dream didn't stop me losing my Christian faith by the time I was in my late teens.

I think the $64,000 question, in this case, is what did the deity think your 'bit' was suppose to be?

I remember when I was about 3, I was standing outside staring at my hands in wonderment thinking, “I made it!” - very objective thoughts for someone that age. It was so much out of place of my normal thought processes, that I remember it, to this day.

Telling people in all probability it doesn't exist!:D

Several years ago, for almost a year, I had unsettling and recurring dreams many nights a week of being stalked by packs of wolves or coyotes. Sometimes one of them would actually attack me and draw blood :nightmare:. Then one day during a routine doctor visit, it came to light that my blood sugar was too high and I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes (non-insulin dependent). After that, the bad dreams stopped! Denise, I agree with Dennis that the hippo in your dream likely represents a burden in your life. Maybe one that you feel powerless against, since the hippo killed you. But then you came back. Here's some "armchair psychology" for you: you've had a lot of struggles lately, maybe this dream is your subconscious letting you know that you will ultimately put the struggles behind you and be strong and happy. I know you've been working toward that goal. As for how a movie star that abandons you when your safety is threatened enters into all this, I haven't a clue!

Dennis, offering no personal opinion, there have been studies (still continuing,) by reputable psychologists compiling stories from children all over the world who remember things about people/places they have had no contact with. Even eliminating the

possibility of transfer of information from outside sources, some of these claims have been proven accurate. To date, there are
thousands of them. These are memories of a past, that logically, they do not have.

Well, from my own experience, I have had Deja Vu. I "know" I have been in the exact place, same people, same everything but in this life, no, I have not. So it's either premonition, or remembering another life. I don't know any other answers to that one. Dreams are a bit different of course, and I don't know how to interpret them. I think some of the most interesting dream interpretations are in the bible, like the famine Joseph recognized was coming, and shared it with Pharoah.

I should try and document when it happens, hasn't for a long time now. It would be interesting if I really payed attention to the "episodes" to see if there is any pattern going on;)

I have a lot of dreams so one day I bought a book about dream meanings. It said
Actor-Warning to not repeat gossip or you
will lose a good friend
Man- You are under a great deal of stress
Hippo-You have a dangerous rival

When I was looking this up I saw that if you dream about cheese you will have success in your love life. So my advice is dream about cheese.

Ever since I was about thirteen, I have had the same picture in my mind. I am very young, slender, walking on a sandy beach. I have a black wig, brown skin, and I am wearing a short white pleated skirt. There is a lotus in my hair. The vividly blue ocean is on my

left, and I am walking away--so my face is not visible. I know this takes place in Egypt. I love all things Egyptian. This scene is like a dream, yet I am awake, and it never changes.
